Low blood pressure
Yes that's exactly what my dr said too. It was so hard to get my personal trainer to not have me do anything involving getting up and down quickly (like burpees)... I nearly passed out each time I tried one!

3 days Post-Op
Congratulations on your sleeve! Around day 5 my drinking got easier. Up until then it felt like food getting stuck every time I tried to drink even just a little sip. I was drinking Isopure in the beginning... it let me get some Protein in while I was trying to get liquids in. For the drain, I just worked around it best I could. It's only in for a little while so what I did was tape it to my body and then just wash around it. After the shower, I changed the bandages for fresh dry ones. Seemed to work for me.

Cash payers...
My husband pulled money out of his tax free savings account and I pulled from my savings account as well. We didn't have to charge anything other than the mustang convertible that we rented while in San Diego

Sleeve is usually a 2 step surgery?
Just the sleeve for me. It's been done as a stand alone surgery for around 5 years apparently.
-
How did you feel the first 2 weeks after you were sleeved?
I've been very tired. A little sore at the drain incision. Otherwise great!

I thought of doing this too but then... what happens if you actually NEED your gallbladder out later down the road?

Low blood pressure
Every time I've lost weight my BP does a nose dive and I have the exact same issues. My doc said that someone with low BP needs to have even MORE water than normal to increase the volume. Also she said for me to move my feet around (think Happy Feet!) before I stand and it will help my blood start moving so that when I stand the blood doesn't pool in my extremities and I pass out I'm sure I'll have the same issue again when I lose the weight this time.

Surgery today in mexico
They're so nice and friendly there. If you haven't yet met Lupita, she's a sweetheart. Tiny little peppy slip of a thing. Sweet as pie! Dr Betancourt hung out with my hubby the whole time I was there! Congratulations!

Some ???'s for those of you sleeved in Mexico...
I outlined this in my blog post here --> http://myaceinhand.blogspot.com/2011/05/surgery-day-outline.html As for the questions not answered, we paid by US money order payable to Dr Mario Almanza when we got there. We paid a downpayment here to the company we used to set it up and then the rest there. The coordinator Louise helped soo soo sooo much with so many of our concerns and questions as well. The hospital was perfectly clean. They were always cleaning every time you looked around. The staff were friendly and helpful and sweet. Always checking to make sure you were ok... even pounding on my back in the night when the gas pains were terrible. We felt completely safe. Never a concern at all. It was so easy, I was surprised at how easy it was.

Awkward moment
I'm blogging too but I'm not giving out my blog to people at work (with a couple of exceptions). I see no reason my work needs to know what I have had done. If they notice I'm losing weight, I just say that I'm on a medically supervised diet and that's it.

Hotel Ticuan
Its easily 4*. Did you go to the website? It looks like crap from the outside but the inside is very nice. www.hotelticuan.com http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g150776-d1930468-Reviews-Hotel_Ticuan-Tijuana_Baja_California.html

Strange Mexico Question
We tipped twice I think. Once on our way back one night we gave them about 50 pesos each for a beer or two, and on the last time Tony drove us we gave $40.

Hlep Info on WLS in Mexico
From what I understand, there's actually 2 Dr Almanza's, a Jr & Sr. The one that I had was Mario Alberto Almanza Reyes in the Jerusalem clinic.

Can I Just Quit Now????
B6 & B12 sublingual/chewable/liquids is supposed to help. Outside that, energy will be better the more proteins you can get in. I am struggling with this as well and I just keep reminding myself that I've just had major surgery so I have to give my body a break and rest as much as I can. Just getting ready for work has me exhausted since surgery 11 days ago.

Strange Mexico Question
Yes its a good idea. They do still work in Mexico so like a resort, they don't make alot of money.... they drive you all over the place, including shopping so its really nice to tip them if you can.

April Update from everyone
Doing well here. 11 days post op now. Got my stitches out yesterday. Tried to put polysporin on my incisions as instructed by the doc and covered with bandaids. This morning my tummy is full of itchy rash. Boo for adhesive allergies! I had soft scrambled egg whites for Breakfast today. It was interesting. Didn't hurt, didn't come back up so its all good. I didn't eat much and it took me a good 30 min to get down 2 tablespoons of food but I feel good otherwise. Today is the first day I've not seen a drop in the scale but I don't really care at this point. I'm getting on the scale because hubby is interested in watching the number go down. I'll be more impressed if I can keep the weight off. That's my main fear is keeping it off, not getting it off!

Recovery House Shared Room
We booked it ahead of time but you don't HAVE to. One person in our group asked to go to the hotel the day we got there when he found out it was an option. If you do pre-book, make sure you tell the coordinator of the arrangements.

Recovery House Shared Room
Yes, that was the part that sucked. The constant going back and forth to the clinic was a PITA and it was painful bouncing along the streets.
-
Recovery House Shared Room
We didn't want to share a room... and there was a risk my hubby would have to sleep on a couch. We stayed at the Hotel Ticuan. It's not ideal choice but if you really want your privacy, ask to stay there instead. It's $68 a night Check out my blog for details on our journey

Started walking today
Every person is different depending on their personal fitness level so there is not really any pat answer. Invest in a chest strap heart rate monitor. They're the best invention ever for tracking your heart rate and calories. Wrist ones aren't as accurate, that's why I say get the chest strap one.
