  1. Tuna comes in a package with enough moisture, you don't have to add anything. I usually cut up a pickle in it. Also, tuna salad and chicken salad comes in little cans. I buy those little six packs of peanuts. You can put them in your pocket when you go on hikes. Cracklins, not sure I want to describe it, it will probably gross you out It is fried out pork skins, they are very hard and tasty, I know, I know gross right. But hey, I'm from Alabama, what do you expect Share your new ideas!
  2. The pic isn't that bad, you are beautiful! You sound like you got amazing willpower! I'm gonna try that picture thing too. I already keep one beside my bed by all my vitamins, so I have to see it every morning. You really inspired me, I'm gonna get my booty moving!!!!!
  3. My snacks for camping were, beef jerky & cracklins. Not nutritious but at least carb free.
  4. Yeah. I went through the same thing. All in all I had to wait a year from my first visit to my surgery. It was oh so worth it. I know how it excited I was, so a BIG CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU!!!!!!!
  5. First and foremost, Quit beating yourself up. We've all been there, done that. If we all had such great willpower we wouldn't have needed the lapband for help. Just try your best to control yourself till you get the proper restriction. If you mess up once in awhile, thats ok. You are human. I myself don't have proper restriction yet, but hopefully will w the next fill. So until then I allow myself one day a week to eat any carbs I want. That way, I don't feel so deprived. Good luck.
  6. I thought it would when I seen that big ole needle. They numb you first and that burns a little. I didn't feel the big fill needle at all. It was over in like 25 seconds. Good luck
  7. I've had my band since 3/19/12, and boy have you hit the nail on the head! I really hope folks will let you know. I am wondering too!
  8. I'm telling you, we are a glutten for punishment. I have the lapband, I belong to healthy accountability on facebook and also belong to Dixie recipe swap. All those sweet southern recipes......yet its like a car wreck I gotta watch.... and see... and imagine....and fantasize....and....gotta go....headed back to dixie recip.......
  9. I started out on it but I couldn't afford to eat that way. So now I just cut out carbs, its simple, its cheap. One day a week I allow myself carbs, within reason. This is what my nutritionist, recommended. Good luck
  10. I can see how this is going to go in a bad direction, if there is a way for me to delete this topic please let me know. It was a rant that I should not have put on here and I am sorry that I did. This is what happens when the fingers work faster than the brain. It doesn't change how I feel, This just wasn't the time or the place.
  11. I am not talking about the people that have real issues. I am talking about the whiners. I recognize that some have gone through a very rough time. I feel bad for them and care. I think people dwell too much on petty things and let that rule their lives. I don't see how it reflects poorly on me to tell people straight that things aren't as bad as they think they are.
  12. First off, I'm scared of heights. Second, You are right, everyone has their own battles. People eating certain things, rude comments and slight pain shouldn't be what gets people down. And if thats the worst thing in their life then they got it pretty good and should recognize that.
  13. I had just had a conversation with my mom about our friends son and what they are going through than got on here to see how everyone was doing and the topics by some complaining about petty things just got to me.
  14. Maybe I should have made it shorter. I am very supportive and encourage wherever I can. Sorry if I offended you personally.
  15. I get your point But I didn't see it as complaining, I seen it as maybe a reminder that what we are all going through isn't by far the worst and we have all become very self absorbed. I am on a computer now but am usually on the android app and by the time my phone loads the discussion its to late to just skip it. Then its just wasted on another complaint. It just seems like there is nothing good with anyone on here. I thought the lapband was the greatest thing that could happen to me as far as my health goes and its well worth the "little" things we have to go through. More people should dwell on that instead of all the minor things.
  16. I have 10 scars on my tummy 5 from lapband, 4 from gallbladder, 1 from c-section. This was by far the easiest. Goodluck!
  17. I am trying to figure out how to delete this post. I only erased the content. If anyone know, let me know. Thank you!
  18. Nagging only ends with him wanting to get away from it. Would you want to be around someone that nags? You need to decide right away if you will accept that this is your lapband not his. Don't try to control his eating. He is grown. Quietly be an example, that goes way farther than nagging. (my aunt was a nagger, and she nagged her husband right out the door)
  19. I learned the hard way to not pay attention to sugar content or sugar alcohol content. They are just "fancy" ways to tell you "eat this, I'm good for you" pay attention to the carb content. That is what will raise your sugar levels. My daughter was diagnosed w juvi diabetes when she was 3, she is now 20. Letting her eat diabetic candy back when I was ill informed, I couldn't understand why her sugar was high when I watched everything she ate. Not only that....she would get very bad cramps after about 2 or 3 pieces.
  20. I'm from Alabama but, from Valley. It's on the ga/al line north of Auburn
  21. I had gallbladder removed in July, they couldn't get one stone out and it caused severe pain rubbing against my intestine. Had to go back to the hospital and was sent to have the stone removed in another procedure. That was painful. Banded this March and it was a piece of cake. Gas pain was tolerable as long as you move around. It builds pressure when you're still. Good luck.
  22. I think its a natural question and they aren't trying to be rude. My bro-in-law had gastric a few years back and I could tell he was losing so i'd ask, "how much?" My sister does weight watchers and I ask her too. Not trying to be rude, just mostly striking up conversations. I in turn have been asked alot, and I've noticed the only time it bothers me is when theres no wieghtloss, so I'm embarassed but, thats, not their fault.
  23. I was banded 3/19/12, I felt the same way. Boniluuu gave some good advice. This too, shall pass, I promise. Food was our way of life, now we are supposed to just let it go. Well, after a lil over a month I realized I let it go and didn't even know I done it. It does get better, just don't dwell on it. Like the saying goes, idle hands are the devils workshop, so is an idle mind. Keep your mind and body occupied.
  24. Todays the 8th so, I'm checking in and hopes everyone does. Started the month at 187 goal is 177 for the month of June. Today I am 184, down 3 lbs. Yay, go me! Of course it helps that I have pockets of pus all over my tonsils, and can't hardly eat c:
