  1. An example of this happening showed up for my sister-in-law at boot camp ; she HATED the MRE's and refused to eat them and would only eat the fruit she pilfered from the mess hall and it wasn't long before her hair started falling out, not sure how long it took before it started growing back but I know she was not happy, yet still refuses to eat the MRE's. She's in Afghanistan now and may be bald by the time she gets home.
  2. I am just on day 3 of the pre-op diet but it has gone much better than I was expecting. I make my days worth of Beriessential in a blender, I first have a big 'ol cup of decaf with splenda and skim milk, I wait about 45 minutes and have my first of 4 servings of BE. I space my Protein drink out about every 4 hours, I drink Crystal light and a lot of Water throughout the day. My big treat, about 8:00pm, is 1 c. of Rachel Ray chicken broth, I add a dash of salt and a good hot white or black pepper bring it to a boil and then sip it out of a coffee mug. I can't believe this works for me but the hot broth completely takes away all my cravings. I should have prefaced this with the fact that I have never had an ounce of self control but I don't want any complications if I can help it! I may add in some caffeine free hot teas today, we'll see though. I know you will figure it out. I know it's probably easier for me too because I don't have children and my husband is cooking for himself. I work out of my home so I'm not tempted by other people eating around me. We can do this!!! What is your surgery date? cherrybell
  3. Thank you! I do and will pray every day! I actually think I will do okay on the pre op diet, not gonna' love it but I keeping thinking that this will help lesson any complications and that at least I'm not gonna' be in true physical pain this next two weeks just hungry...that I CAN survive. Thanks again LilMissDiva!
  4. Mine are 1 - NOT wearing Cuddle Duds tights to bed so my thighs don't stick together 2 - illegal in 48 states kind of sex 3 - boots fitting over my calves 4 - NOT having to hear my Mother say "you used to be so pretty" 5 - breathing, just flat out being able to breath! 6 - never again telling my husband I'm starting another diet
  5. Today is day 1 on my liquid diet, only 13 more to go . I know I can do this it just feels so overwhelming! I am getting freaked over the "after" surgery because I have opted not to tell anyone other than my husband, and he can't be there for the procedure or the first night or two when I get to my hotel (I'm doing this in Dallas, about 6 hrs away from home). I think what scares me about that is who will make me get up and walk and NOT take my pain meds before the 6 hours are up. I don't want to tell my family because my parents are both elderly and not in great health and my dad had an 8 month stint in the hospital fighting MRSA...it was awful!!! I also don't want to be perceived as being weak for having this surgery, and yes that would be their perception. I'm all good, I think I am just having normal doubts and questions. I keep thinking this time next month I will be starting on pureed foods and this will be a distant memory.
  6. There, just said a prayer for you. You are at day one of your new and better life...yay you!!! Congratulations and let us know how you are doing. Cherrybell
  7. Hip-hip-hooray! I'm having mine on 04/26/11 and I am sooo ready! I start my pre-op diet on Thur and I'm trying to get myself psyched for that! Good luck and I hope all goes well.
  8. I was given a Dr Pepper, my drug of choice, and the head ache went right away. I still feel a bit woozy but I survived so off to Dallas tomorrow and hello to the real me.
  9. I don't think I would have the nerve to wait that long. I hadn't even thought of doing this until about 2 weeks ago driving home from Houston and saw a billboard in Dallas for VGS and my husband told me to check into it if I was interested then I could do it. So here I am. I'm not telling anyone but my husband and it's all I can do not to let it spill...I want everyone to assume I finally found a modicum of self restraint.
  10. Thanks, and the test wasn't terrifying as several had led me to believe but it wasn't fun, was VERY quick though. I am excited about my surgery and gawd awful scared as well. I keep thinking about the outcome and I'll be just fine. Hello toes : )>
  11. I got my cardiologist clearance tests today, not loving the chemical stress test! I go in for my consult, NUT class and pre-op tomorrow in Dallas. I have my surgery date already, April 26, this is going very fast since I am self pay.
  12. I will be driving to Dallas for my surgery ( I plan on doing this without anyone with me ) and was wondering if they will allow me to drive myself to my hotel 2 days after and then 2 days later driving myself 6 hours home. Is this reasonable or should I grant myself a few more hotel days? I have not had my consult with the doctor yet but I am trying to get an idea of things that I might expect. Thanks all.
