Question post-op about ab workout
i was petrified to do any ab work. i am a little over 2 months out and have had no problems with ab routines. my trainer always checks in and make sure i'm ok with whatever he has me doing. the only exercise machine that i cant do is when you lay down on the machine and curl the bar up towards your butt. this presses on my port and is uncomfortable for me.

Gas Pain is Killing Me. How much longer?
i hate to be the bearer of bad news but i was banded on may 20,2011 and i still at times have the shoulder pain. it is worse than the port pain, i dont feel that walking helped me either. i'm not trying to scare you, but just my experience. i have no idea how much longer i will have to deal with this. it isnt as frequent or intense, but still happens. sorry!

Lap Band size differences?
i think the size of the band is based on your anatomy and the great curvature of you stomach, so i think it's strictly up to the surgeon

FINALLY I CAN REALLY SEE IT!
thanks again everyone. I have already been diagnosed with hypothyroidism, and my levels are normal the last time they were checked about 2 months ago, but i think that may have something to do with it as well.

FINALLY I CAN REALLY SEE IT!
Ok I havent blogged here in a while. There hasnt really been anything big to report. I now know my band does not like white meat chicken or egg yolks from boiled eggs! I must take small bites and chew chew chew. Yeah i know this is bandster 101 stuff but it bears repeating, well to me anyway. I got some not so good news at the dermatologist today about my hair loss(not band related) and I cant relax my hair, wear pony tails or any type of weave, only wigs. ok this may seem stupid to some but i was literally crying leaving the doctors' office. my hair is such an important part of me to me. i dont care if that sounds shallow, it's how i feel. any how, after i talked to my mom and another friend i got over it and decided to not focus on that. While at walmart i decided to pick up a pair of XL scrub pants to see how close i was to squeezing into them. well i got home and they fit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I CAN WEAR XL SCRUB BOTTOMS (and i'm a sista with a lotta junk in the trunk, so this is huge too me)!!!!! yeah me!!!!! just wanted to share that with everyone!!!!!

Downsizing over here!!!!!
I went to the dermatologist about some hair loss(totally unrelated to the band). Long story short I cant do anything to my hair for 3 months except wash/shampoo and wear wigs! i cried like a baby. no weave!!!!!ugh! but on a totally opposite and positive note, when i picked up my prescription from walmart i decided to buy a pair of XL scrub pants( i usually wear 2X and they are too big) and lo and behold i can fit them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM SOOOOOOOOOO HAPPY!!!! HAPPY DANCE HAPPY DANCE!!!!!!!

Please tell me it gets better!
Hang in there hun...the first 3-5 days are the worse. i promise it gets better. i thought my all my insides were going to fall out everytime i got up. I think back now to that and it seems so long ago(actually only 2 months). i ate chicken broth a lot, but the protein shakes were ok with me. i didnt have an appetite for 3 weeks so i was fine with sipping on flavored water or the occasional juice. Hope you feel better soon. hang in there. i had the dreaded shoulder pain, and i'm not trying to scare you but it took about 6 weeks for mine to go away completely, but everyone's body is different. congrats on your decision to be banded. feel free to add me as a friend and PM me any questions, no matter how silly or gross you may think they are. That's why we're all here to support each other. Blessings!

How do you deal with in between clothing sizes?
I used to wear 2X in scrub pants, but now they are falling off, but i still cant fit into a 1X comfortably? My workout pants are also starting to fall off. I dont have the nerve to wear fitted clothes to the gym yet so all my stuff is pretty baggy, but i'm not there to be cute, right? LOL! Wish someone would invent a way to adapt your clothes until you are comfortably in the next size. Nope I cant sew, even a button causes me problems! LOL Just wondering how others are handling this dilemma if they have it?

Are your fills done under Fluoroscopy, or Standard way?
I've had 3 fills all done under fluro. My doc numbs the area and the needle is under compressed air so it's so fast i just really hear air and feel a small prick. I have no idea what it feels like to have it without it being numb. Even though the a is numb I still cant bring myself to look at the large needle sticking out of my stomach. I like the fluro that way the doc can see exactly what's going on with the fluid I swalllow and not just going on what i say i feel or just a standard 2cc's or whatever. I like mine. . Just my 2 cents

Slow weight loss!
i dont want fast weight loss, i just want the 1-2 pounds per week. i just want to see some fruits of my labor..that's all. I'm ok with it being slow, but not non-exsistent. i also have hypothryoidism so my mind knows my weight loss will be slower, but that doesnt make it easy to swallow that pill. i did not go for by pass cuz i think its too drastic for me.
-
Stuck and sliming for the first and last time!
i totally understand the whole forgetting to chew enough. i have got to learn how to slow down..i only have a limited time to eat breakfast and lunch so i'm always rushing..any suggestions.

Slow weight loss!
i'm in the same boat. today marks 2 months since i was banded and i am stuck at 17 pounds. i'm trying to just focus on working out and eating right. i've had 3 fills and i'm trying not to get too discouraged. i freak myself out thinking what if i'm one of those people that wont loose weight with the band. i was self pay so i would be so devastated. tryn to stay focused and not on the scale.

Progress takes some time...
tanya...i am about 2 months out and i cant seem to hit the 20 pound mark to save my life..17 and creeping towards 18....ugh so frustrating, but i've taken my focus from the scale. i havent weighed myself in 4days and that's HUGE for me!
-
Week 3.. No weight loss :(
dont be upset about the lack of weight loss. as many others will tell you the first 6 weeks is about healing not weight loss.. u may even gain a few pounds. i totally understand you're frustration. BEEN THERE! sure your are getting in enough doing some form of exercise. i am about 8 weeks post op and get to 20 pounds to save my life. i can tell in my clothes and face that i'm losing. i have decided to hide my scale in the trunk of my car so i can stop obsessing over it! LOL
