It is becoming my best friend. Lately I can not go to the bathroom! I don't want to be dependent on these so I try for 2 days but I have a very hard time eating fruits due to the band, not because I don't love them.

I can relate...the other evening as I was rinsing plates and silverware for the dishwasher, the regular sized dinner plate and regular fork that my husband had used seemed huge to me, as I have used a smaller salad plate and smaller dessert fork for over a year now.
Sometimes you have to experience these epiphany moments to realize just how far you have come along your journey towards health!

That nurse just fed you a load of crap. The band sits on a nerve that send full feelings to your brain. It takes that nerve 20 minutes to tell you you're satisfied when you are unbanded. I dont know about you but i can destroy lots of food in 20 minutes which is why I was morbidly obese!!!
When you're banded and filled properly, the nerve is almost always being touched, so you DO NOT feel the same kind of hunger as before, and when filled right you CANNOT eat the same size portions as before or you will get food stuck and feel horrible. That horrible feeling is called restriction. If you don't feel a struggle or tightness when eating or drinking, you don't have the right fill period.
There are a few people who CAN eat anyway past those feelings. Those people are at serious risk for band complications.
The majority of filled bandsters feel an unbelievable freedom and joy at having hunger controlled and warnings from overeating . For most people, this is all we need to lose weight rapidly, to make better choices, and to leave food addiction behind.
I wish I could slap medical professionals who give misinformation. A lot of them tend to be nurses. They are not doctors!

My band is one of those lucky ones that I am restricted on how much I can eat one bit too many and I have to throw it up sometimes this happens before I can even get a half a cup in. Other times I can get a cup in. I feel like this is how the band was portrayed to work. I do throw up a lot though.. I can't eat fruit very well unless in a smoothie or something. Some say I prob am too tight but it's working for me and that's all that matters. Keep trying don't give up

It is probably from moisture trapped in the folds. Can cause rashes/infections that have icky odors. Dry thoroughly and use a powder- baby powder does fine- just to make sure you're really dry there. Probably nothing to do with the band.

There is something that I would like to add and hopefully this is sensible and not just more trying to have the last word.

SOMETIMES THE MARKETING AND THE REALITY ARE DIFFERENT

When I was first banded I was told that the band would prevent me from eating too much. I was told that overeating would make me sick but it was also noted in several places that vomiting was not normal.

What I discovered was that if I attempted to overeat I would be very uncomfortable. That sometimes it was not possible to tell what was enough and what was too much until it was too late. I also found that I quite often got a very full uncomfortable feeling in my throat that felt as though food was sitting there although apparently this is a referred sensation from pressure on the vagus nerve. I didn't like any of these sensations and for me they were not what I had been told that eating after being banded would be like but I was banded, it was working and if that was the reality then so be it. It would have just been nice if the Drs had given a more accurate picture. Also that was back in the old days when we were told that the food sits in your pouch and only moves through the stoma really slowly.

The new line that is being spun is actually quite hard to swallow ( excuse the pun). The way it is stated it actually sounds like a cross between utopia and/or the band doing nothing. I am still not sure which it is.

The bottom line is that you are not supposed to be so tight that you have a huge list of things that you cannot eat, but you should be able to get sufficient feedback from your band that you know that it is working. If you don't then the whole thing is rather pointless.

My bands far from tight. I have 4cc in my band I eat a half cup of food I'm full for five hours that doesn't mean my band is to tight if it was I'm sure my Dr would be taking Fluid out.. If I was told all the band does is satisfy you and toot can eat as much as you want I wouldn't of been banded. It definitely does restrict your portion sizes... I've learned not to argue with the lapband knw it alls who have the same answer on every response they make.. To each there own. My bands working I'm losing weight, I've lost half what I need to lose in 7 weeks with eating healthy eating less exercising six days a week and it was 20 grand well spent to get my health and rockin hot body back

Wow i wish i could eat some of the stuff everyone else does!
On an average work day i have:
    Breakfast: iced coffee(sometimes with protein)
Lunch: smart one or lean cuisine(1/2 of a panini or roast beef and veggies which Is about a cup of food)
Dinner: 1 tilapia fillet with lemon juice
I cant eat much more then that. And if i get hungry before bed i eat about 1/2 cup of Cereal or maybe treat myself to a few bites of ice cream.

Also, I gave my husband 3 choices:
    1. He could eat what I eat.
    2. He could cook his own food.
    3. Go out and get his food, and eat it there and not bring it home!
I wasn't sure which option he would choose, but I knew it wasn't going to be #2! LOL!! But he's made the right choice and he is reaping the benefits and getting himself prepared for his upcoming Lap-Band surgery.

Ok i dont know why mis73 keeps telling everyone that the band is not suppose to help you feel full. Its designed to help you feel full, feel full longer and with less food. Heres a clip from the web
    Adjustments
The lap band works by decreasing the size of the stomach as well as making the stomach feel full longer. The lap band makes you feel full by inflating a small balloon located inside of the device. This balloon can continually be inflated and deflated by outside control. It also allows the physician to expand the balloon if complications occur. To expand the lap band a small amount of saline solution is inserted into the device through an access port just underneath the skin
Now me personally feel full all day long when i dont even eat a damn thing. My stomach could be growling like a damn bear but i feel full/no hungry. Now its not designed to to make you feel stuffed or anything but it does help you to feel full plain and simple.

everyone is different. If I do not chew thoroughly, eat too fast,or too much it technically goes down but then it will come back up. Its not a violent throw up... its more like ... imagine if you swallowed a piece of hard candy and you caught yourself and were able to bring it back up. Its kind of like that for me but its not voluntary.
Now if I eat anything fatty... it will take longer and then start coming back up about 30 minutes after I eat.
    It isnt painful...just gross.
