Well I did it, cheated my a** off today, 14 days post
I totally agree that it is bad to rush the other stages!!!!!.. i'm 8 weeks post-op and i can barely get in 1/3 of a cup of soft food still... sometimes i even go back to full liquids after having trouble with a food (especially chicken breast--my nemesis)..denser foods MAYBE 1/4 cup if i'm lucky.. i think my sleeve capacity is quite small... which is good & bad in different ways

60 days post surgery - what's the worst that coulld happen?
I think you should be fine... I haven't tried popcorn yet, but i had a few sun chips the other day and if you chew well, they go down well... I imagine popcorn will be the same... I'm actually going to see Kungfu Panda this sunday and I'm going to try a little popcorn... I'm also going to put a small plastic bag in my purse just in case i hurl ... And what you said about feeling guilty... i don't think you should... eating a cookie or a hand full of popcorn every now and then will keep us from binging like we have in the past... Total deprivation is not the way to go... instead we should teach ourselves to have a cookie, enjoy it, and then move on... Several of the superwomen on here who've been sleeved over a year admit that they eat junkfood or Snacks every now and then... its normal for them.... so we should make it normal for us... new key word= moderation

I just want to point out quickly that not everyone has a post-op liquid diet... I was put on mushies as soon as i left the hospital and anything i want to eat after 4 weeks... of course i didn't follow that bit of doctor's advice and did liquids for 2 weeks, then mushies... but i just wanted to point that out!

The Importance of feeding myself.
Wowzers!! It sounds like you had a really tough day!! Packing Snacks sounds like a good idea!!! I've done the same thing, where my blood sugar gets so low i feel like i'm torn between passing out and ripping the nearest person's head off! LOL... you know its bad when you start to see bright spots floating around you.. I need to start carrying snacks too!! Usually i throw a small package of sliced ham into my purse before i head out the door, but with summer coming, that's probably not the wisest idea anymore.. I think i will get some of those tuna kits too and maybe a ziplock of almonds (my sister's trick...and why she is a size 2)

I'm glad you are feeling so well post-op, but you should take it easy... you need to be eating small amounts of really soft foods right now so your stomach can heal properly.... take care!! I'm worried about you!

My first stall was the week of my TOM... I only lost 2 pounds that week and subsequently gained 1 and then lost 1 during the next 2 weeks... total bummer!!! I heard this is common since you retain Water... but it totally sucks!!

Suddenly Single... now what?
I'm sorry about your relationship! That really sucks!! I know cuz my ex-boyfriend dumped me the Friday before my surgery!! I was heartbroken and terrified and that was the worst week of my life i think! I'm also worried about finding a new boyfriend when I'm covered in lose skin, but right now i'm focusing on me... I'm going to be thin and smoking hot when I see my ex again and i'm going to flaunt it in his face! Great plan huh?!?! Anyway, I'm glad you aren't giving up!

Swimming--anyone know the wait time after surgery?
That's cool I taught Water aerobics as one of my part-time jobs in college, as well as lifeguarding at my uni pool... one woman who had had her knee replaced, could hardly get in and out of the pool when she started... i had to help her... but after a few months of daily w.a. she was practically hopping out of the pool by herself... That made me so proud!! And in a salt water pool is even cooler cuz of the increased buoyancy you get....

Top of the Seventh: It's just a stomach.
LOL.. i feel the same way!! I'm wondering what is going to happen to my diet when i move back to Texas in December very scary!!!!

Swimming--anyone know the wait time after surgery?
I swim laps ... lots of them... and after telling my doc this, he said 3 months... If you really swim laps, then you know that it stretches/uses your stomach muscles a lot... if you are just going to putter around in the pool or do some stretching/mild Water aerobics, then 1 month or whatever your doc said for walking should be fine... But warning... you might want to avoid swimming for a while... you know how the water temperature drops your body temp, causing you to be hungry... that might still affect you even post-op... Opps.. just read Disney's post after posting this... and totally agree with her!! LOL

Heparin Bruises....is it normal for them to get bigger?
Hi MeggieP.... mine looked a lot like yours.... they were massive... after my doctor touched one and i yelled cuz it hurt so bad, he took me off of heparin... (at first i told him that the injection sites hurt and he said that is normal and that all the patients complain that it hurts more than the surgery,,,, then he told me to let him have a look... I lifted up my shirt and he gasped... I asked "is that normal??" and he said "NO... no more heparin for you!!!".... Under each of my bruises was a knot (hematoma) of blood that had to be re-absorbed by my body... They were so bloody painful... http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/gallery/album/841-my-heparin-bruises/

When to stop taking birth control? Will it postpone surgery?
I stopped my bc pills 2 weeks before surgery... and had my period within a week... The hormones actually leave your body very fast... Plus, i turned out to be allergic to the heparin (the anti-clotting shots they give you in your stomach)... but I didn't develop a clot..... Mention it to your doctor, but they will probably go ahead with the surgery...

Has someone commented on your weight loss?
On Friday i ran into my student on the way into my building... she said, wow teacher you look hot today! do you have a date today?? That totally made my day!!!
-
I am officially freaking out!
Wow!! Good luck with your face lift!!!
-
Is your birth control the culprit?
This is very interesting!! Thanks for posting... I'm 30 days post-op... last week i started taking my bc pills again because I can't take my iron pills and during my 1st period post-op, i was so dizzy and almost fainted several times.... Since i started taking my bc again, I only lost 2 pounds for the whole week... and I have been craving carbs soooo much, which is strange cuz i've been low-carbing it... I just stopped taking the pills yesterday, cuz I figured the hormones were messing up my weight loss... I hope stopping helps!

Dumping sydrome
Yep it sounds like dumping syndrome... I had it for about 6 months after my gall bladder surgery last year... My triggers were any kind of greasy food, like bbq and sweets... Try to avoid too much grease and sugar... increase your veggies a bit, especially things like spinach and salad... that really helped me, and now mine is completely gone!! Hope you feel better!!
