  1. Hey Gogiants, I understand where your coming from. I was at one time in my life 498 pounds, I had to lose 100 pounds in 3 months just to have my gall bladder removed and a hernia repaired. I lost 130 pounds but I was on a very strick diet that a Dr put me one. I vowed after that, I'd have the lap band done. That was back in April 2007, after a year I put back some of that weight back on . It took me a year or so just to find a Dr that took my insurance. When I found that Dr, I found out I had to travel 58 miles just to have my surgery. He (my doctor) suggested I have the bypass but he said he'd really like to recommend the sleeve. Then then the day of my surgery, he asked me if he had problems could he do the sleeve. I told him to do what ever he had to do. That was back on Sept 24, '10.. It was the best thing I ever did. It's been 6 months now, I still have my days that I struggle but I love it. I've lost 82 pounds now. I'm down to 354 pounds now. I'm so close to my first goal of to see 350 and to get into a swim suit. I'm actually going to start doing Water aroebics next month. I can't wait. Anyway, Good luck and keep in touch with us all.

  2. I've rented the Eating Well after WLS cookbook from my library. I have to admitt there aren't a lot in there that I would use. I need something that I can actually use daily. I'm 5 months out since my surgery and need more ideas of things to eat. If you have any suggestions, let me know. Thanks.

  3. My oatmeal Crisps recipe - Debbie Leidig aka Sweetgalntx

    1 cup Crisco, melted

    1 cup Splenda brown sugar

    1 cup Splenda

    2 eggs, beaten

    1 tsp vanilla

    1 tsp soda

    1 cup pecans, chopped

    1 cup flour

    1 tsp salt

    4 cups quick cooking oatmeal

Mix first 5 ingredients, sift flour ,salt, soda together and mix well. Fold in oatmeal and pecans. Shape into 1" balls. Place on greased cookie sheet. ( I flatten each ball a bit. With a glass.) Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Makes a lot.

  4. Thanks TStew for the info. I have a lot more weight than most people on here have to lose and I really have a hard time getting myself motivated to get up and do anything. But anything that is easy on my knees and back sounds like something I can at least give a try. I'll check with my city library before I check with the hospital library. They have quite a few Cd's and DVD's. Thanks again.
