A Couple of Questions -Day 8
My port is a few inches above my incision. As for the dermabond(superglue) just wait until it falls off. It will probably take another week or two but you definitly want to make sure everything is healed up before you go picking it apart!

February 2007 bandsters!
The easter bunny does not have to be stingy, he can just bring non candy gifts instead. My kids are getting sports related gifts from the bunny along with a few treats (more specifically things I hate, like peeps). My daughter is going to get all of her gear for softball and my son some baseball stuff. I think they will enjoy it better than candy anyhow. SO do we have any takers on an April challenge? I say protien or exercise or both.

Feeling Down
No problem. I know what it feels like to be in the position you are in (somewhat) and it sucks. Just try to take care of yourself!

Feeling Down
Julie that is her loss not yours. As much as it sucks right now and as hurt as you feel she doesn't desrve a friend like you if she is just willing to up and abondon for no reason. As for your son, I would take him to counseling. If he doesn't want to talk, fine. Just make him understand that you are going to remove every ounce of freedom from his life until he cleans up his act.

Keeping it a secret?
I work at the hospital where I had the surgery done, in fact I work in the OR so it would have been very hard to keep a secret with my name and surgery type up on the board! I don't care who knows. Though we all know the truth about how "easy" it is (ha) I just tell people so what if they say I am doing it the "easy" way. What's so bad about that? Why would I want to do it the hard way that has not worked for me time and again?

Road to "TWOterville"
Yeah so I managed to get another fill yesterday. I know I lost 4 pounds the past week but I really think it was a farce. It was probably my worst week ever in eating and exercise. My surgeon told me I am not allowed to come back now for at least 3 weeks now unless I have a problem. lol He told me I need to have a healthy obsession and to not go overboard. It is just so darn hard to be patient. My only regret is not doing this much sooner and now I feel like I need to play catch up to get where I want to be.

LapBand vs. Gastric Bypass?

February 2007 bandsters!
I know we were banded the same day and I am going in for my thrid fill today. Call your Dr. and insist you get one sooner. My first fill was very small but when I went for my second it was discovered that the band absorbed more than half of it. Some girls in my support group have said it took then upwards of 8 fills to get proper restriction. I want to get another one because even though my portions are less they are not as small as they should be and I can still eat bread very easily.

South Park
World of warcraft was the game. My husband plays and I hate the stupid game so much. I almost peed my pants watching the episode though. My top 5 would have to be: 1. World of Warcraft 2. When they killed off Chef 3. Tom Cruise Trapped in the Closet 4. Mr. Hanky 5. Wheel of Fortune

You know they warn me and warn me about soda and what do I do? Just a very small sip. Not even a full drink. Pain, pressure, burp and up comes the last few bites of Breakfast. Just the beginning of a horrible horrible day. Yeah I am so not interested in drinking soda again.

Your MOST embarrassing experience? Spill it people!
Of course mine would have to be a sexual one lol. When I was 17 and giving by boyfriend some, uhhhh, oral pleasure for the first time ever in my life we heard a sound outside my bedroom. Quickly we rolled off the bed and hid. I assumed it had been my Dad coming to turn off the porch light (I thought he was sleeping). After that I dropped my boyfriend off at his house and came home. Later I went in the kitchen and my younger brother was giving me some funny looks. I asked him what was up and he said "I have just one question for you". I was like "What" and he said "Did you spit or swallow" DOH!!! I never forgot to close a door since.

No Child Left Behind? How about adults?
I have never seen this show but I have heard about it from co-workers. Sadly the jeopardy people are probably the rare few seeing as when while I am hearing about it at work, I am hearing about how hard the questions are and how there is no way a fifth grader would really know the answers. Or I might just work with a bunch of morons.

Road to "TWOterville"
I know 1 pound loss is better than a gain, I was just really hoping to be on the lower side of 250. It is going to happen this week though. I got my three miles in this morning, got my fill yesterday and I am ready to go. Those of you who are farther in than me (pretty much everyone since I seem to be the band-virgin around here) what kind of exercise did you start out doing and what kind are you doing now? Like what type, how often, how long, etc.

February 2007 bandsters!
Without restriction my portions are definitly smaller than they were pre band but larger than they should be. After my first fill I felt a little bit tighter in the morning. I would have my protien shake which was about 12 oz of milk and the powder and that would damn near stuff me for almost 4 hours. I never had a problem getting it down but it definitly helped me to stay full. After about a week though it could eat fast again, gulp water, and not chew as well. I had maybe one or two time were I chewed so little that the food would not really get stuck, but I could feel it in the upper pouch then squeezing through to the bottom. But I could still eat bread and when I managed to eat almost a whole grilled chicken sandwich (bun included) I called the Dr. for another fill. As for this fill I don't know how it is going to be. I did manage to drink a 16 oz water throughout my 50 minute workout. The working out is one thing that is keeping me going. It is probably the key to any weight I have lost so far. I far from love it but I am getting to the point now where I feel guilty if I don't do it. All I am doing is walking now but I have managed to get myself up to 3 miles a day at a 3.5mph pace. Not too shabby for 250lbs. I would say if you are ahving any problems with overeating before a fill to just get up and walk. At least then you are counteracting against it in a way. Supposedly the real wieght loss isn't supposed to really start until the 6th week and I am there now and ready to go.

Road to "TWOterville"
I like that theory!!!! I am just in a tizzy after looking in my Feb07 thread and seeing how well people are doing. Makes me feel not so good. I think my biggest problem (though kind of a good thing) is that I don't swell or bruise very easily so I don't think I had very much swelling after my band was put on. Heck I could eat solid food like a week out. So I really need to get some restriction to take care of my eating. I hope the fill today will help me out because this past week I have been able to eat like a normal person and not a bandster.

February 2007 bandsters!
I was having the same frustrations. I could eat solid food within a week and I was not getting full. It was such trouble to eat super slow because I knew I would be fine. I got my first fill two weeks ago and it helped a little for a few days then back to normal. I just got my second fill today and I am definitly feeling more restriction. I know it is hard and it sucks but just be patient and work with your doctor to get good restriction.
