  1. Try the chewable Fiber One tabs.
  2. I know what you mean! I was banded on 3/22/07. The third piece of sushi I ate for dinner did not go down. First PB, not fun. What's weird is that I had the same meal 2 days ago without a problem. I guess the rice was a little too dry or maybe I took too big of a bite. I don't know. I excused myself to the restaurant and up it came. Oh well. Now I know.
  3. When ever I feel deprived of calories,I remember that bodyfat is stored calories. So If I eat fewer than my body needs to run (about 1600) then my body will supply the rest of the calories by breaking down fat. Neat system. The key is not letting your blood sugar spike and drop to severely and try to get the protein and vitamins, so that you don't break down your own protein (muscle mass). So eating an 800 calorie diet won't harm a person who has 175,000 extra calories stored on their body (about 50lbs). That is as long as you eat enough protein to keep from digesting your own protein.
  4. I am a registered nurse familiar with good sterile technique. I'de go to the ER. Unless I was on a desert Island with betadine and a syringe and then I would hope that my surgeon was on the island with me to give me an unfill.
  5. Thanks for the quick reply. I am supposed to be on clear, but I thought if I strained off anything remotely solid, it might be okay. I guess that's a cheat. I really don't want to cheat but the yogurt smoothies that I am allowed are good in the morning but just too sweet for night time. Im allowed to thicken up my liquids in 2 days, I guess I'll just have to hang on until then. Marsene
  6. I am glad someone had the courage to post this. I am beginning to wonder if all my plumbing still works, lol! I am on the 12th day with no BM. Lots of rumbling etc. I thought it was because I have only been taking in liquids. I don't feel bad, so I guess I am ok. M.
  7. Is the port directly underneath the port incision? I seem to feel it a couple of inches below where my incision is. Is that where it's supposed to be? I have superglue Patches over my incisions and they are starting to get annoying. At what point can you peel those suckers off? I know some of these questions are probably specific to my doc, but these don't seem like important enough questions to bother anyone about. I also food processed 1 spoonful of black Beans, 1 spoonful of rissoto and a cup of chicken broth then strained it. Is this okay on Day 8? I am getting tired of the sweetness of yogurt and shakes and regular chicken broth is losing its luster. What is a reasonabl amount of liquid to drink at one time. I don't want to start off any bad habits, but it seems as though I can easily drink a cupful of liquid. I don't know if this would stretch the pouch or if it all just runs through. I know this a kind of trivial issues, but I am curious. Marsene
  8. I had surgery 5 days ago and except for the post-op gassyness - which lasted about 2 days, I had very little (if any)pain. Had surgery on Thursday, back to work on Monday. My stomach rumbles quite a bit, but nothing painful.:clap2: Marsene
  9. I was banded in TJ by Dr. Ortiz. My starting BMI was 32 by surgery my BMI was 30. It was a good experience
  10. Jack, you put it so aptly.
  11. That's a good one Mark! I like your quote - except for the part about dinner. Can't think about food - only slimfast. Marsene:clap2:
  12. I totally agree. I am 5'8 and 140lbs is a reasonable healthy weight for my height. When I was younger, before kids, I weighed 125 - that was a little too thin, but natural for me at the time. Now Im at 194lb and I don't feel like myself anymore. I have little health issues creeping up that I don't think I would have at a lighter weight. Marsene
  13. I told my parents, they are watching my daughter. I told my daughter (she's 16) that I was having surgery, but not precisely when. I told 2 close friends. My employees I left an air of mystery, I told my key employee that I was having minor surgery. I told everyone else that I was going to Tijuana to meet my cabana boy. Marsene. PS Wating in the airport. Tomorrow is my B(and) Day!
  14. Trace, I am right there with you 48DD and I would give'm away if I could. Marsene
  15. I am getting banded in TJ on Thursday. I am 5'8" and weigh 196. That puts my BMI at 29.8 . My starting BMI was 31.5 but the preop diet has me in the not technically obese range. I am still getting banded because I 've lost 50lbs several times. I keep it off for a little while -up to a year- and then gain it back. If I look around at my family there are quite a few people that are would qualify for bands no problem. I decided that I didn't want to wait. I want to get control back now. I have arthritis in my neck and back and carrying around this extra weight is making it worse. I know there are risks involved but walking around with 70lbs of excess weight is a risk too.
