  1. Thanks Eddie. I wish you could have too. Guess I fell in deep! oh my the junk emails I'll probably get now! No it's not a comfortable shoe, but it is a familiar one. that is why the ( :rolleyes) roll eyes was used in the first place. My very, very EX was into it and "freak" is very fitting there, but that is only one of the reasons why EX applys and I am certainly NOT into it. Really, can we just forget it! I really should not have opened up the old wounds, :cry
  2. :embarassed: :embarassed: So I guess I will answer myself, you guys all know I was just kidding?? right??? not about the popcorn, but ..... hope I didn't offend anyone. if so sorry! Have a great weekend.
  3. I seem to be feeling a little speechless which is most unusual for me. :rolleyes actually sounds like fun, little messy.....but fun! ok, so my head is in the gutter........lol. really though, congrats to you both. :clap2:. Had my first fill monday. got a speech about the evils of popcorn, but otherwise it went well. what can WE have when the wife is having the evil pop??? I swear it is shear torture, please, someone just piss on me!
  4. Hi Dee, really happy to hear you are ok! wishing you puter well too. good luck.
  5. I for one am glad to hear someone bitch, so I don't feel so all alone! I'm doing about the same, only nothing has moved for a month! yet I know I've no one to blame but me cuz I canceled my 1st fill. I had good reason at the time, but I really didn't think it would be this hard without it. anyway, that will all be better soon I hope. got my apt for Monday!:clap2: I'm not sure it will ever be second nature, not after a lifetime of getting here. But, maybe, we can always hope. As far as the weekend goes, same old, same old.:cry work, work, work....that better get better soon too! Just need to sell my house , get rich and retire or :bandit. My wife is anxious to get on with "our" life without the added stresses of necessary additional people around (renters ) and we continue with that goal. It's our main sorce of conflict. anyway, that is a long boring story not worth getting into. Just want you all to know , that even though I just found you all, you do all feel like family, and although I may not always write, I do check in often and am SOooooo... glad you are all here  to all. Pamela, you gorgous thing, thanks for the picture!!! I got to be sure my honey (all 108 lbs. of her) doesn't see that! Happy weekend all!
  6. HI Lorna, haven't been in this thread for awhile, but I can tell you that I haven't experienced much at all. It's been rather sympton free except that I do sometimes have "cute" little burps when I drink too fast and they don't last long. really, I don't sound like a beer slugging truck driver( sorry if I offend any beer drinking truck drivers out there! I was married to one in my dark past so I know what I speak of!!) I think you tend to hear only the bad things experienced , like anything else. if it were like that few would want this. My only problem is that my 1st fill had to be posponed due to my location and lack of vacation/sick time to take the day off. Not a good idea. :hungry: all the time now. wasn't hungry at all nearly till the fill was due. oh well, haven't gained but stopped losing, but that will all be better soon!!! Good Luck
  7. just a quick note, if you plan to drive from Boston it will be longer than an hr., it's an hr. once you hit the cape. I think there may be a boat from boston that would be quicker. My wife and I got married there last October! it was just a day trip for us, as we live in the area. I wish we could suggest some places but didn't stay in any. We really did like the justice of the peace if you were so inclined!!:kiss2: maybe if I figure out how to post pictures ...........later, Oh, you can log on to Home: Provincetown, MA on Ptown.org for info. now, for this site, it is doing weird things, I haven't been getting emailed either, and that is how I link directly to this thread. so I clicked on an old one to get here and it didn't log me in as a member, that was a first. had to go look my password! and many thanks to Eddie for starting this thread, wish I'd found it sooner, it's great , feel really conected. no special plans for the weekend, have to think about that one!
  8. congrats Consafo! hope all is well. you are so lucky to be where you are and know who you are "this young" and be able to change your life with the band. you got a whole life time of outfits and "out" everything ahead of you. things were not so when I was 19! but, I making up for lost time now!!! Dee, Mine are burps! at least hick-ups are kinda cute! I sound like I just crawled out of a bar room, and I hate beer! (love mud slides, think that would go down? just kiddin....) I'm SOooo glad all is well with you two love birds, Eddie.
  9. Eddie, know what else is weird? just since yesterday, everytime I click the "post reply" when I'm finished, instead of keeping me here at the site, my screen says "done" but is totally a blank white screen and I have to start over from my email to get back! WTF???:speechles any thoughts?
  10. Thanks Juli, it was the copy/paste thing I had trouble with, but I think I got it!!!:biggrin1: and now I know how I did it thanks to you! Hope you are having a great weekend.
  11. hi, trying to edit , my last message didn't post, wish I knew what I was doing!
  12. playing with the ticker, this is just a test!!
  13. Hi juli and Eddie, just so you don't think it's your computer (I did!) I got Eddie's email too, but not here, But Juli's is, go figure! Like wise, loved the joke, I'm surrounded by ADHD. Some time I'm going to figure out this "ticker" thing!
  14. :clap2: North Hampton, Ma!!! Big les town, if I were to move I would like to go there. My honey wants to go warmer, but I want to go where I'm welcome. "........*#!% Romney!!! other than Mit, Mass is really fairly gay friendly, especially the Vineyard, where I live. Maybe now that we just got the vote to "not vote" (on the news tonight!!!!) other states will follow! For now, Mass is safe till at least 2012 when the next opportunity will come up for the opposition. Eddie, glad to hear things are better. thought about moving up here? you could do a summer/winter thing , and do your thing!
  15. Hi Eddie, first, thanks for the info on the hungries and fills, really helped! I can't pretend to give advise on the peace and war going on with your hubby, I just had my own blow out with my wife! that's why I didn't come back sooner. Been real tense around here, but I know from yrs of this that it will get back to normal and things will be all happy again. It's a process! But you need to let it go the doormat thing go. I'm the "sean " of our marrage, I get the calls about work and must take them, It's really hard to balance life sometimes , for me it's an over kill of responsibility and probably poor boundry issues, but it pays the bills!!! we get over it ! We've been together since 94, had a few rough spots, but last October, went to P Town and got hitched for real for life!! It's a good thing! Let me know how the fill went. hope I can keep up with you all, this is a fast moving thread!
  16. :guess May it would be a better response if you went to the RI chat thread??? this is a Mass. thread.?! Good Luck !
  17. Hi every one, just found this thread!!! who knew?! been on the "state" threads and never ventured. I got banded 4/26 and haven't had a fill yet. My wife can't wait till I go on 7/2 for my first. she is anxious for me to get going with the loss again. been on hold for 2 wks now. I find myself "expermenting " sometimes and get hungry couple times a day. BUT , I'm anxous about the fill , do you really have to go on liquids again?? I have never experienced any problems with eating anything. this is great!!
  18. Hi gingersnap, thanks, this isn't really the best place for details, and everyone's details are different, so your experience will most likely be different than mine. They were good about the pain meds, I didn't have to ask, but, I never require much anyway..I'm just used to aches and pains anyway and gave up trying to fight them years ago. I just found the port site to be very sore, but it is okay now, can't even feel where the band is not even on day 1. I think the most important worry would be the insurance. you really need to call them and check and see if there is any waiting period being it's a new policy and you are a new employee. the surgery is easy! you are responsible to find out if it is even possible, the drs. will take it from there to get it covered. they didn't really explain that well enough at first, but it is written somewhere in the first night info session. I didn't notice it and got quite far before I realized that.fortunately, I was covered. apparently your employer can opt out on wt. loss things to save them money on the company policy and thus it can be different than the general policy. YOU REALLY Need to CALL!! good luck,
  19. Hi Christie, Welcome! If you go to the mass bandster chat thread pg. 23 for 5/7 "how soon" I answered that question. good luck!!!
  20. Hi Gingersnap! thanks, I think I am doing well, getting a little anxous with the post diet wanting it to be over and on to the real deal! I love the Drs. and the whole department at Lahey. I think it is an excellent program. It's good that they don't just "slap" it in and leave you on your own. They really do try to give you all the tools and info to make it! so far I'm down 22 lbs!! Good luck to you. and Bostonchic too!!
  21. :decision: Of course you know that this site is all "lapband" land, so naturally we are all going to be a little prejudice . But, I have to say from all my research and personal experience with friends, family and co-workers that had the bypass, this is MUCH safer. My sister-in-law, cousin, 2 co-workers , a client (I work for vns) and several friends have had the bypass. only 1 has had no problems, and she is very new only 6 wk out. many of them discribe the problems as life threatening. My cousin nearly died and was hospitalized for 2 weeks. AND, her wt. loss has really slowed down and been on hold at 260 (she was aprox 340) as she discovered she could eat certain high cal. foods. So, that is not fool proof. yet, she is happy as she is much smaller. I think you have to be willing to "work" which ever you pick, neither is a magic bullet , the thing that makes the other seem easier to lose is that you are more likely to heave if you are "bad", so if that is what it takes to keep you from eating junk than that may be the answer. the diet dr. is the one that will help you to determine that. Also, if you decide this was a huge mistake, this is reversable! so far, BEST thing I've done ever, I know it will slow down, but so far, a lb a day is coming off since band day:thankyou:..there are other reasons too, maybe you need to do a little more digging. I will warn you though, the drs. lean to the bypass as the "gold standard" , I think because it has been around longer. that's the down side, don't think they give the divice a life long warranty as it hasn't been around long enough to know. but hay, got to start somewhere.I don't want to wait my life time to find out. May have to get a new model down the road !! no, really, it seem very durable to me.:nervous
  22. wjt, I'm only a day behind you, DITTO!!! but it beats the chicken broth! I had a SF pudding today, it was gooood. I was bummbed, I thought this week was the start of mushies, good thing I checked.
  23. Hi Shopper, unless they do things very differently, it is a bit of a long process. At lahey, you do 1 informational, then get a psych, diet, and physical evaluation. If that goes well then the surgeon sees you. If you are accepted you have to go to a once a week class X4 for behavioral, a support group at night and just before a class with the nutritionist and nurse pract.. Oh, and I should mention that they want you to lose a little wt. first. they determine how much. for me it was only 14 lbs but for others it was anywhere up to 50. depends on how "tight" you stomach is.They want to be sure you survive the table! that could be the longest hold up. I started mine mid december and just got banded 4/46, been worth the wait!!! I had a few delays with weather and travel to do the manditory things and coming from the Vineyard. good luck with the June thing, let us know how it goes.
  24. If you are this close, than you will know when you get there. The people at Lahey will also let you know if it is right for you. they are very careful and if it isn't they will not let you proceed with it. For me it was years of research, and another 28 years more than you to realize that the struggle was a never ending cycle. At your age I was a member at the gym, had all the pricey home equipment and really did make the effort. it was also the heavest time of my life. I finally just got REALLY tired of the battle. Your trainer will never understand, unless he has had a BMI of 49 too! and that was just before surgery, 60lbs less than when I was 37!! Just don't let them talk you into bypass, that is very scary stuff. I work for VNS and also know a lot of people, friends and family and ALL have had many problem, many of them life threatening. But the band....This a good thing!
  25. that is fanatastic, I have to ask if that is just since the band or the total inc. the pre wt. they want you to lose? I just got banded on 4/26 , first weigh in monday, I don't see me doing that well. But it is definately coming off. I'm confused as to when to start the count! the home scale says 7 since the band, but it's 21 from the start. if you count from my absolute highest wt. ever, which was many years ago then its 64! see what I mean? just not wanting to get my hope up toooooo high!
