  1. Hey guys, I was only suppose to stay in the hospital overnight after surgery, but my blood pressure was very high so I had to stay longer(I've never had blood pressure issues). They let me go home Wednesday afternoon and the only pain I've continuously had was gas pains. I sneezed about 10 minutes ago and I thought I was going to faint lol. I've been attempting to drink more water, and it's kinda hard cause I actually think I may be having hunger pains as well (could it be???) Last night my mom set up a nice spot for me to sit, a heating pad, some warm water to drink and it was like magic, I woke up this morning with no pains (except for gas pains). She also mixed prune juice with warm water and made me drink it and it's helped with the gas alot. I feel like I'm making great progress because I couldn't hold anything down in the hospital. Since Surgery, I've lost 11 lbs and I think most of that is just from the lack of tummy lol. I hope that I can continue to drop the pounds. I hope that you all have a good day
  2. Congrats! I hope you are feeling better!
  3. I've been walking since I was coherent and its not really helping at all. I walked my apartment complex this morning. I hope it goes away soon.
  4. Hi, i had surgery on monday as well. Did you have any chest pains due to gas? I've taken the prescription for it that was given to me and its not helping. The gas is so horrible. If it wasnt for the gas I would feel at about 90%.
  5. I had surgery on Monday and my last day of the liquid diet was on Sunday, by Sunday I had kinda grown use to it but it was horrible. I felt so deprived of energy and all the above, those protein shakes are torture! My surgery went great but I've been extremely nauseous, my blood pressure was high (so I had to stay in the hospital longer) and now I feel like I could go without eating, I'm in love with sonic ice, sugar free popsicles and apple juice. Take care and I hope you guys have a great surgery experience
  6. I was just released from the hospital about 2 hours ago. I am personally in a lot of pain and i can't seem to get comfortable. I've tried to get comfortable and nothing is working. I had to stay an extra night because my blood pressure continued to go up. The reading that scared the nurses and me was 207/105. I was like man, what did i do? I've never had high blood pressure in my life and so hopefully it was just due to the pain. This is the most alert I've been since Monday afternoon. Can I use a heating pad on my left incision? That's the incision that hurts the worst. well, I'm about to take another nap.
  7. Ken, that sounds like a plan. i will send you my email.
  8. I've been able to sleep but I find myself tossing and turning alot. I feel more anxious than anything. I'm scared of the pain afterward, but other than that I am not really scared about the procedure it sorta feels like my mind is at peace on that particular aspect of things. Do you feel like you've had enough time to mentally prep for all the changes? Sometimes, I feel like I haven't but I feel like I'm changing drastically all around. I feel like a new person already.
  9. Thanks! I know your surgery will turn out great! The countdown really begins
  10. My surgery is on Monday and I'm more excited than anything, but I slightly feel scared. So not looking forward to the pain, but I'm really looking forward to being off work and taking a break from school. I'm graduating from college this summer and this will be my last break, 4 years of college and that freshman 15 turned into freshman 100. It's exciting to know that my life is taking a great turn. I'm finally adjusted to the Pre-Op diet, but for some reason my weightloss has stalled (kinda scary). I've almost got to the point where I don't want to eat which is weird. But yeah, I am very happy and I hope that you all are experiencing the utmost happiness as well! Candace P.S. After surgery, when do you guys think it would be ok to start flying? I intend on traveling very soon but I'm scared to do so.
  11. Thanks! So far, so good. That's amazing on your weight loss! Congrats!
  12. I have a 2wk liquid diet, it's torture but you have to stick to it. If your liver doesn't shrink your doctor may not do your surgery. My dietician who works with my doctor suggested eating veggies with every shake because it would help relieve some of the hunger and the calorie intake would not be bad. (ex. a can of spinach is 30 calories I believe). That's a suggestion. I never thought veggies would taste so good lol. Good luck with your diet.
  13. So, Today is my 4th day of the "all liquid diet"- It's been pretty bad. Like I've actually dreamed about eating bacon! BACON of all things lol. My boyfriend is being supportive and he is following the diet with me so that I won't feel alone and hungry by myself and it's great to share that with him cause I think I would go insane. Today is going ok, but I just really want a cheeseburger. I saw my dietician yesterday and she thinks I'm going to do great, but it's so hard because my sister leaves hot pockets and Chipotle and Subway everywhere. I even found myself about to take a bite out of her Hot Pocket and she opened her door and I dropped it on the floor- it was a sign lol! This is by far the hardest thing I've ever had to do, but I know it's preparing me for something even greater and so I'm venting my frustrations. 12 more days until surgery.... wow.... Well, I hope you guys have a wonderful day! Go Team Sleeve! Candace
  14. Yesterday I scheduled my surgery! I'm very excited! I start my all liquid diet on Sunday (to help reduce the size of my liver) and I'm slightly anxious about that. I fear that I will be so hungry!!! I can have one meal a day but 2 cups of veggies and a 5oz. piece of meat (chicken, fish, etc.) My boyfriend volunteered to participate in the diet with me up until 6 wks post op. I don't think he will be able to do it for that long but I'm very grateful that I have his support! I hope that you guys are having just as good of a day as I'm having Candace
  15. Hi Michelle, I am a patient of Dr. Nicholson as well. My surgery date is 4-4-2011 and I'm very excited! The approval process went very fast for me, and I had to do the same requirements you are required to do. I started on the last week of January (with the insurance process) and I was approved on March 3rd. Congrats on your journey! It's cool to actually find someone on this site that has the same doctor!
  16. Tomorrow I go in to schedule my sleeve. My insurance was approved and I'm ready to go! I'm slightly scared and excited. I'm just ready for a wonderful new beginning. Wish me luck, Candace
