You do know this is exactly the Keto eating plan. High fat, moderate Protein, low carb. The REAL fats help curb hunger and your body has found the right formula if those for you!

For me, to lose or keep lbs off, I cannot eat Too much Protein. Has to be a balance of good fats, moderate protein and low carbs. Too much protein will stall weight loss.

I started this thread 11 months ago. I am back to report that in May of last year I started gradually falling off my wagon mostly due to the expectations of others and because so many (not here but in real life) mocked my WOL and guilted me and I fell for it. My own fault but it is hard to stay strong and put self first. When you fall off besides weight gain I find that I get depressed eating carbs and sugar and am just not happy at all! It is like a deep dark hole that you don’t know how to get out of it and the vortex of eating for comfort and carbs just keep sucking you in.

I gained about 25 back of the 35 I had lost last spring. I am re reading what I wrote above to get myself back on track with baby steps.

I never read some of these comments before so will comment now that I never had experience with met forum as was never diabetic (though close). When I am a carb eater I do get shakes and ravenous however and “need” a fix or feel nauseous.

I did not want to advertise my “failure” but decided to do so to let anyone reading to feel they are not alone if they also struggle.

Only seeing success stories can be depressing when you are struggling so wanted to let everyone to know to keep fighting the good fight and never give up!

Its valuable for people to hear the reality of life years out. It was something I wish I had been more prepared for. Congratulations on all your weight lost and getting things back on track. It's never too late to work on this and turn things around.

I'm almost six years out. Lost 100 reached goal in 7 mo. Kept off about 3 years. Regained 27 lbs. lost it with 5:2 intermittent fasting and very clean eating. Kept that off another two. Now have lost 18 since Jan of the same 25 regain. . It can be done. I'm on 1000 a day low carb with two day lower around 500-700 cal. If I eat more than 1350 a day I WILL gain. My problem is junk!! It CAN be done and pretty easily once you start losing again but you have to be really really conscious of what goes into your mouth and When. try to give yourself at least 12-16 hours after last meal of day and the first of next.

It is somewhat common for people to develop ulcers after surgery. Generally the advise from the internet is:
Treatment for both marginal ulcers and stomal ulcers should include avoidance of NSAIDs, antisecretory therapy with proton-pump inhibitors, and/or sucralfate. In addition, H pylori infection should be identified and treated, if present.
So you said that you are taking pantoprazole which is a proton-pump inhibitor, you are already following one of the prescribed approaches.
You should also avoid all NSAIDs. This includes aspirin and Excedrin (which contains aspirin), which can cause ulcers or make them worse.
The following is a list of NSAIDs: Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Diclofenac, Naproxen, Meloxicam, Celecoxib, Indomethacin, Ketorolac, Ketoprofen, Nimesulide, Piroxicam, Etoricoxib, Mefenamic acid, Carprofen, Aspirin/paracetamol/caffeine, Etodolac, Loxoprofen, Nabumetone, Flurbiprofen, Salicylic acid, Aceclofenac, Sulindac, Phenylbutazone, Dexketoprofen, Lornoxicam, Tenoxicam, Diflunisal, Diclofenac/Misoprostol, Flunixin, Benzydamine, Valdecoxib, Oxaprozin, Nepafenac, Etofenamate, Ethenzamide, Naproxen sodium, Dexibuprofen, Diclofenac sodium, Bromfenac, Diclofenac potassium, Fenoprofen, Tolfenamic acid, Tolmetin, Tiaprofenic acid, Lumiracoxib, Phenazone, Salsalate, Felbinac, Hydrocodone/ibuprofen, Fenbufen

I just got back from an amazing horsey mountain weekend. We saw UP CLOSE - a bear and a bunch of mule deer. That deer was so close, we could see her beautiful eyelashes. We also saw an elk, across a meadow. Of course lots of birds, butterflies, flowers etc... but the most amazing thing is we saved a golden retriever dog from maurading deer. Seriously. they must of been does with fawns they were hiding but they had that dog pinned down and whenever he tried to escape, the deer went after him. We had to shield him with our horses and escort him home! i am riding a spooky arab borrowed horse and was thankful he stayed steady through that peculiar adventure!

I'll post. I went out on a date with a guy who took out his teeth at the table when he took me out to lunch. I'm going to be alone forever I posted about it in the mars and venus collide forum. It was so gross!
I am really enjoying my trainer. He's really good and motivating. I just wish I could lose a few lbs as I am eating right and exercising and nothing is happening. It's really frustrating. I should just box up all my clothes that don't fit and get rid of them all.
I'm going out of town tomorrow to a neighboring town and am looking forward to that. Plus I bought my plane tickets to go to Chicago in August and I am really looking forward to that.
Sheryl I know people like that too. I know a guy who was trying to live on $700 a month social security. I finally had to stop being friends with him because he was always asking to borrow money, and every time I saw him, I became depressed.

I had so much fun this weekend. I attended 2 parties on Saturday; hosted one Sunday and then went to mariners on Monday. I am enjoying my friends and also socializing with Michael's circle of people.
It's not just men, I know two women who are in their 60s, own nearly nothing and plan to rely on social security.

I was going to ask about Memorial Day but thought I had figured it out. Over here we remember on 11th day of 11th month at 11.00 am when the whole country comes to a halt for a 2 minutes silence. The Sunday nearest the 11/11 is designated Remembrance Sunday and there are ceremonies at war memorials.

@@coops hope things get better soon. Always willing to listen if you want to vent.
I got a bunch of weird news yesterday, put me in a slight funk. Went to Michaels for dinner, one of his friends was there. They argue about politics and everything for sport which I am usually up for. M was in a bad mood and it wasn't a nice debate, it was not fun. after about 2 hours of the negativity I decided to just go home. I wasn't mad, just not in the mood for it. I felt so bad because his friend left and M was so concerned that I was leaving angry. I wasn't angry, just worried about the bad news I'd gotten earlier combined with the aggressive discussions' just wasn't up for it. I don't want to mess up a good thing over one bad day, So I took a deep breath and we sat down together and talked. He is a pretty strong personality kind of guy, but the expression when he thought I was offended... Makes me think he is falling in love with me and I don't know what I think about that. I feel unsettled.
My bad news is a company re-org that will likely affect my job AND finding out by accident that my 27 year old needs a heart monitor only he hasn't told me why. I am trying to not worry.

I am struggling too, but I have to say "no way" on the statement that it is just like presleeve. I am fighting with the 160s when I would rather be 150 (or a dream in the 140s) ... presleeve this fight would be happening in the 275-300 range and regains would be huge, not 10 or 15.
I have to assume it is similar for all of us. I remain grateful for my sleeve!
In my case, I am having too much fun and not focusing enough on clean eating and working out and tolerating some hunger... sigh

Some good news, hubby has secured an interim job for about 3 months followed by a part time post with the same company following that. We are so pleased and it stops the bank balance falling any lower. This is exactly the type of position he has been looking for.
To Celebrate Kevin wanted us to book a holiday so we just went in to the Virgin shop and booked for Cuba, so excited. Cuba has been on his bucket list forever, there and India! We go in mid August for 2 weeks, one week in Havana and one week on the coast. I know it is going to be quite old fashioned and backward in some ways in regarding the tourist industry but we are excited to go before it changes too much.
So I really do need to get this weight under control before my hols - I might need to wear a swimsuit!!
Public holiday (May Day) here today so I'm home from work and relaxing which is nice cos I just been to see mum again this weekend and sorted her house a bit more. She seems to be OK with it and says she appreciates it but sometimes I feel like I am ripping her life apart as I get rid of 'things'.
Hope everyone is well and happy.
