  1. Hi Lisa...I understand how you feel. I was sleeved on 9/22 and am really looking forward to "normal." I am still in pain, not sleeping well, and weak. It is getting better and better so I know in another week I will have improved significantly. I am still pretty swollen. I tried to go to the park this morning with my family and I literally could not fit into my pants. That was a little discouraging, but I am sure things will calm down. I am walking as much as possible. Good luck to all the new sleevers :001_tt2:
  2. Do a liquid breakfast (protein shake) and dinner with a light lunch. You WILL lose weight:thumbup:
  3. selvester420...that big bubble is acid reflux and it hurts! If you didn't get a prescription for something call your nurse and ask for it. Now that I seem to have the under control (pepcid every 12 hours with a chewable maalox in between) I am feeling much better. Sip as much as you can. I am pretty much always nursing a protein shake that I make with water, but I feel weak too.
  4. I have ad a lot of acid and am taking Pepcid twice a day. I crush it to nothing and take in a couple of spoonfuls of pudding or applesauce. My doc told me to bridge the gap between the doses of pepcid with Maalox. Keep your stomach coated. Good luck!
  5. Day 4 and I am doing a little better. Today my goal is to drink, drink, drink. Still so not interested in food, but I will work down my protein shake. I am pretty mobile. I went for two walks around my neighborhood yesterday and walked around the house as much as possible. Pain is still there and I am not particularly motivated to do anything, but I can't lay in bed anymore. It is killing my back! I think it will mostly be a couch and movie day, but I do see light at the end of the tunnel.
  6. I would recommend not getting on the scale. I did today and I am up 3 pounds I know I am really swollen so I am fine, but better not to subject yourself to that. Wait a week. I am struggling to figure out what works for me. Discovered the pepcid is huge. Doc is recommending I take Maalox in between because it seems to wear off after 7 hours and I can only take it every 12 hours. I am taking liquid Tylenol with codine, but I think I am going to switch to regular liquid tylenol tomorrow and see how I manage. The codeine makes you constipated and I have seen no action since Wednesday so I think I might be headed in that direction. Not good :biggrin0: it is great to hear I am not alone. Everyone says how "wonderful" they feel after surgery. I am guessing they are not talking about the first couple of days because this has not been wonderful. I feel so unprepared.
  7. I am having a hard time chocking down anything and am totally NOT hungry. My concern right now is fluids and pain medicine. It takes me 30 minutes to chock down the pain medicine and then I sip on my protein shake which I make with water. I finally slept for 4 hours so I need to make up some drinking. I am worried about dehydration. I can't believe you guys able to eat anything with texture. I wish. I must be more swollen then most.
  8. I relate to everything you are all saying. I had surgery Wed and came home yesterday. I was unprepared for the intense pain. I generally have a pretty high tolerance to pain, but this has brought me to tears. It takes me FOREVER to get anything down. I am going to try a Protein shake today, but I am not looking forward to it. I spent 40 minutes getting down 2 ml of liquid tylenol. I tried to take a spponful of applesauce last night and it felt like a bolder going down. Anyone else having a had time getting anything down?
  9. Congratulations! Wishing you a speedy process :001_smile: I am having surgery tomorrow through kaiser in S. San Francisco. Kaisr can seem a little slow, but you'll make it. Cherice
  10. Hi there...the order of the appointments seems to vary. I had both in the same day. You might want to check out a sub group of Richmond/South SF Kaiser people on the discussion page.
  11. You might want to check with your supplemental insurance to see if they only pay for "disability period." You will not be disabled for 6-8 weeks and no ethical doctor would write you a note otherwise. My supplemental plans only pay if you are truly disabled in my experience as a HR/benefits person.
  12. Kaiser doesn't really support that, but I lost most of my pre-op weight by drinking protein shakes. Their "diet" is just way too much food for me. There is no way I would lose on that. At least not very fast. If you doecide to do it, just keep it to yourself :lol0:
  13. That should be fine. My surgeon says 3 weeks, but lots of people seem to go back to non physical jobs after 2 weeks.
  14. I am not volunteering the information in advance, but I will definitely tell people after. I won't be screaming it from the roof tops, but honestly, I cannot imagine lying about it. Saying you cut portions and are working with a trainer is a lie to me, but that is my own personal ethics (no judgments). People will find out and feel deceived. I have been on the receiving end of the "cryptic" information and I lost all respect for that person. I am confident that surgery is the best option for me and if the people around me think less of me for doing it, they I don't care about them anyway.
  15. I don't really have a presurgery diet. I had to lose about 20 pounds before they would schedule surgery. Now that I have lost that, I just have to maintain until surgery day-9/22/10 :lol0:
  16. Hi Mariah, I work in Human Resources for a government agency in CA. There is Federal Family Leave (FMLA) and CA Paid Family Leave (PFL). PFL is income replacement and does not protect your job. FMLA is job protection, but not income replacement. The leaves will often run concurrently if you are eligible. Since you will be out for your own serious illness, you should be eigible, but you will need a note from your physician. This is typically a pretty standard thing for medical offices so I am sure if you ask the Mexican doctor he will be able to send it to you. Keep in mind, that you may be required to use up to two week (definitely one) of your own leave balances so you really won't get a lot since you won't be out that long. I encourage you to contact your HR department ASAP and ask what the requirements are. They may have their own forms to complete and you probably only want to contact your doctors office once about this. Cherice
  17. Can anyone recommend an unflavored Protein powder (or liquid) that can be mixed with hot foods? Thanks!
  18. Hi everyone...I am so excited. I GOT A SURGERY DATE!!!! This feel like it has taken forever, but the wait is almost over. My surgery will be 9/22. I am so excited I could just burst
  19. Wow Sherri! I am impressed with how fast you are going through the program. I just had my orientation in South SF today and I really hoping things go fast. It looks like you were not required to lose a full 10% of weight before surgery-is that true? Cherice
