  1. Well- since I have had a hysterectomy and then later surgery to have my ovaries and a large tumor removed- they know mommy has had surgery before- "to make me feel better" - So I plan to do the same on this one- mommy just doesn't feel good and this surgery is to help me to get to feeling better so I can be happier, healthier and we can do more things together- that's my story- my kids are 6 and 10- and definately if they asked more than that I would not lie to them-
  2. Hey girls- I have had several surgeries- the bumps- are scar tissue forming- under several of my incisions there is still bumps after a few years now- the only time I had a stitch hang out like you described I had to go back in and get it surgically removed- that is your body rejecting an internal stitch and it works its way out of your body- might have it looked at- - but the bumps will take a long time to go away- you wont notice them much later on -
  3. Wow- just really adjusting to this new way of life and then this to happen! You probably feel very overwelhmed- I will definately be praying for you! But like the others said- worry about your baby and at least Praise God you have this awesome tool that will keep you in check during your pregnancy and after! CONGRATS!!
  4. Yep that was what I was thinking too- that you just have to really get rest afterwards- almost to the point where it just makes you - you cant stay awake.
  5. Yeah- I don't know either- sounds like we should find out immediately!! lol
  6. I have tried them and they are ok- its an aquired test- but all protein shakes are! Cost wise- great! Plus - I drank 3-4 a day a year or two ago and lost 30 lbs in one month on them! lol
  7. I know I am in the same boat as you! I don't want to suck it all up for just testing! But my doctor and hospital said absolutely no working for 24hours- and I have a desk job also- but I also work in a 24/7 operation - so I can just trade my days off that week- sorry- I am sure you didn't want to hear that- ( I relate this to when I had a colonoscopy- its better to just go home and sleep and let the meds wear off)...
  8. Wow! I thought jeans that much only the STARS wore them! lol= Congrats Girl!
  9. Your so funny! I saw that and thought the same thing- OMGoodness- one last meal!!!!
  10. Thanks guys! You all know what frustration all that brings- it is good to know time frames- especially when you are a control freak haha
  11. FINALLY- after insurance approved me clear back on March 10th!! They FINALLY got the approval to my dr and so my surgery date is MAY 2nd!!
  12. Hey- Might want to post this in the general forum or the post op forum- most on here- have not had the surgery yet-
  13. WOW! Congrats!!Thats about how much I need to loose to - that is amazing that it hasnt even been two months and you have already made it to half way!!!
  14. Oh my safety pin- they are that long- ugh- I think I feel naususated already- blaah! Nope not liking that at all. I will try some Sobe I have never had that before- I like the propel-= and when you drink half the bottle you can fill it up with plain water and still get a good taste- makes it last a bit longer.
  15. Maybe the thursdays were when they do the lap-band at the hospital- so we stay two nights? Oh my I was hoping I wouldn't go home with the drain- ugh! I have had 8 other surgeries and all but two were abdominal- and never had a drain so that is kinda freaking me out- Oh my 3 shots later!! that is what I am afraid of - I drink ALOT of Diet Coke- but I bought some Propel water- I like it- but I need to check the sugar on it- not sure if there is any- but it goes down fast like the soda so I think I will work on that. Thanks! and keep me posted!
  16. Ha, Your better off than me- I don't like seafood at all and no mushrooms- so probably not going to go there with the veggie stock- yeah - I tried the other day to not drink my usual Rt. 44 diet coke- but by the end of the day my husband was like I am going to get you one RIGHT NOW lol- and my head hurt soo bad- I think I might go ahead and start it in the morning- kinda frustrated right now- my insurance approved me March 10th but would not send the paper to the office for some reason and they just got it today- and Rachel who schedules the surgery is out of the office till Monday- how long did they schedule you out from when you called to get your date? They said when I started it would be 3-4 weeks- then I saw you were having surgery on Monday the 11th - when I called they said they only did the sleeve at Menorah on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays- Oh- and during my consultation with Dr. Malley- he said that he and Dr. Furhing would be in there- is that what you were told? I never even thought to ask him to about having a drain tube and when that would come out- I guess I need to make a list lol - ok sorry to bother you with all this have a great night!
  17. Praying for you! Let us know how it goes!
  18. Ha- this is funny- I was just going to ask you what the preop diet looks like- (ur going with Dr. Malley right) - and then I found you posted this- Does it matter what type of Protein Drinks? I need to try my Injury Chicken Soup and see if I need to buy a bigger supply. Have you tried that- ?
  19. WOW! You are doing great!! Thanks for letting us know- I am preparing myself for surgery date- and like you said I go back and forth- but know there is no other way for me. Keep up the great work! Walking two miles already!
  20. You know I was just talking today with my mom- which I have been very open about this whole process- but today she actually- said to me - "Can't you just diet on your own? I mean can't you just drink your protein shakes and eat less?" I looked at her and said - can you? Take in to mind I am 30 and have ALWAYS struggled with this and so has she! - I think sometimes- they are just making sure you have thought out the process yourself- is it really what you want- but once you have I agree- just tell them- I wasn't asking your approval i was asking for your support- then if they cannot do that- maybe your right about the friendship.
  21. WOW - i read that and thought you must be going to the same one i am here in MO. I called my insurance at the beginning of last week and they said I was approved and have sent two letters to dr stating that- but girl at the office says they havn't gotten anything and can not schedule my surgery till she gets the papers- OMGoodness! I am going crazy- My insurance says they have sent it twice now- very frustrating to know that the only thing that is keeping you from having surgery is some one who does not know how to do their job- plus- like you the office I go to most ly does lap band- and even tho on everything I wrote I wanted the sleeve done- she turned it in to insurance over a month ago- but come to find out- for the BAND not the sleeve- so she had to resubmit everything the beginning of March and now I am approved but can't get her to schedule the surgery - and to think if she actually knew how to do her job I could have been sleeved over a month ago!! - UGH!!!! I so understand your frustration!
  22. Hey- Have you tried this? I bought two big bags- the chocolate and the Cookies and cream- they are not two bad but the 3 huge scoops just to equal 60g protein is a lot just in it's self- So I assume after surgery you could just make one shake and sip on it alllll daaayyyy! lol
  23. Thanks, the sagga continues- I called insurance they said that they DID approve and didn't send a confirmation letter that she would just need to call and they would tell her over the phone- so then Dr. office clerk said they will not do it without the letter- THEN the very next day called insurance again to find out - that I had NOT been approved YET and they were still reviewing it- (how can I be approved one day and not the next) THEN the next day- they called me- said I had been approved a week ago and they did send a letter and they were resending - I think both sides are being less than cooperative with each other- I can understand wanting to just go self pay! OH WELL- thanks for responding
  24. Well after a month of back and forth calling the doctor and insurance and wrong things being filed - I had a call last week from drs office saying they expect it to be another 20 days till we hear anything and she was going on vacation for a week or so- SO yesterday I thought I would just call my insurance and see if they all went on vacation too- and they said I was approved last week and don't know why the doctors office didn't let me know that- SO after being upset for a while- I finally got ahold of someone at the doctors office and again was told that yet another person in the office is not going to be back in the office till monday to schedule my surgery or let me know what I need to do next- I was upset yet again- but I strongly believe that everything happens for a reason and there is a time and purpose - God works in His time- not mine- right- SO- waiting till Monday to get irrate again- I have been really questioning my motives- why am I doing this- do I really want yet another surgery- am I really that addicted to food- and after watching what I do to myself- Yes I am addicted to food- and found myself just this morning eating a McDonalds burrito and hashbrown and after I was done- and being miserable- I wasn't even hungry- then I got frustrated at myself- I know many of you have all been thru this and know what I am talking about- and in a sence I can see where someone who has not had a weight problem can not fathom what this surgery is about or why we choose to do this to ourselves - I have to have a tool to jerk me out of my rut and say HEY YOU HAVE HAD ENOUGH STOP IT! Ok sorry I ramble- but I think I just needed to get a bit out- to people who are not tired of me talking about the surgery lol. Thanks
