I also had my VSG through Dr. Kelly. I made all my plans through Sandy and Alighterme.com. She was extremely helpful through all the arrangements. When I finally reached TJ, and met the hospital staff including the doctor, I was put at ease. I just can't say enough about the treatment I received. I feel that Dr. Kelly is the best. What a fine gentleman he was. Treated me and my weight problem with respect and concern. If you choose A lighter me, you will have no regrets. Plus, you'll be a part of the Dr. Kelly family. Well, great news!!!! I am exactly one month from my surgery. I am down a total of 17.2lbs. I feel good about this number. I was in a stall for over a week and it was driving me nuts. I then realized that I was doing mental logging. Didn't work. I got out my notebook and began writing everything down, and Whallah!! Weight loss. Dah, am I a ding dong or what. I really thought that I wouldn't have to diet ever again after a VSG. I'm back on track and excited to see the scale reduce in numbers. I know I shouldn't watch the scale, but I can't help it. Those dang numbers mean a lot to me. My clothes are fitting so well now, actually a little big. Congrats to me for turning on the light.

I was back to work on post op day 6. I had no problems except having to nap after work for a couple days. I have a "desk" job so it wasn't that difficult, I guess it depends on the type of job you perform.

I had my surgery March 15th and went back to work March 20th. I am a nurse but do mostly desk work. I was tired but I worked through it and napped when I got home.

Don't dread the liquids, it's easy-peasey. You will not be hungry with the protein shakes. Just remember what you are doing, and why. Your transition to the "lighter side" will be a cinch. Keep the faith!! I went to Mexico and Dr. Kelly did my surgery on March 15th. You will be put at ease the minute you meet him. He's just fantastic. Good luck.

I had surgery on March 15th (along with Miters36) with Dr. Kelly. I experienced no nausea. My pain was well controlled. I only had two injections for pain, they were after I woke up from surgery. These injections worked very well, they were non-narcotic, it was toradol. I have had no problems since the my surgery. You will just love Dr. Kelly, he had a great bedside manner. My leak test was done two days after surgery just prior to going to the hotel. I have lost a total of 16lbs post surgery. I have now entered my "stall" but am keeping a good out look on my loss. What other diet has you losing 16lbs in 3 weeks? The staff at the hospital and hotel are just wonderful. If you choose Dr. Kelly, you will not be disappointed. Good luck to you.

I had my sleeve done on March 15 with Dr. Kelly. From the moment you meet him you will be put at ease. He is such a charming man. Great bedside manner. My surgery went very well. No complications. He's a very competent surgeon. I am a nurse and was watching every thing that went on. First you will check into the hospital, and a nurse will obtain a urine sample, then place an IV, labs. You change into a gown. Your next visit is a cardiologist for an EKG, then chest xray. Dr. Kelly will come and answer any questions. I guarantee you will feel comfortable. Then the surgery. When you wake up, you will feel gas pain. So my advice is take a pain shot, gog back to sleep to clear the anesthesia. When you have cleared your head, walk, walk, walk. I took a safety pin along with me to pin the drain to my gown everytime I walked. It will keep the drain from swinging and pulling on the stitch holding it in place. Most important is walk walk walk. Only you can rid the body of the gas in the abdomen. Gas X doesn't work because the air isn't in the stomach. Two days in the hospital and then you go for a leak test. After that you are transferred to a hotel. Get this.......The doctor visits you there and brings you bottled water, gatorade and boullin cubes. two days in the hoteland then back across the border to the airport. Piece of cake. All the staff treat you wonderfully. Don't forget the safetypin and chapstick. The will give you ice chips after surgery. Remember baby bites. Hope you find this helpful. I came home on the 19th and went back to work on the 20th. I feel great. They will also give you medicine, pain pills (non narcotic), omeprazole for the tummy and antibiotics for wound healing. Also a bottle of antiseptic spray for your wounds. You will have 5 small incisions. No outside stitches, he uses dermabond to lessen the scarring. Good luck with your weight loss. i was sleeved on March 15th. The BEST thing I took with me was a simple safety pin. This allowed me to pin my drain to my gown. That way it wasn't free swinging while I walked. It also kept the drain from pulling on the stitch. I know it is simple but it was a big help. The day I was discharged I gave it to the woman across the hall and she swears by it.

Thanks for the "pick me up". I needed some encouragement. I guess I am expecting too much to happen at once.

Hey all, Well I am eleven days post op and I was down 12lbs. Today I weighed myself and I am up one pound. Ugh!!! Is this normal? Have I reached my "plateau"? I am still on liquids, I have slowly introduced tomato Soup, and cream of asparagus soup. Do I go back to Clear Liquids? Or stay on the full liquids and just keep trudging through this? Any advice out there for frustrated me?

I was sleeved by Dr. Kelly on March 15th. It was just a pleasant experience. I traveled alone and felt very at ease. I had every faith in Dr Kelly and his staff. I too am a nurse. I came home on the 19th and went back to work on the 20th. Dr. Kelly was WONDERFUL. There were no complications and I am now down 11 lbs. ONE week today, back to work, and lost weight. WOW, simply amazing. I just loved my experience.

I have 2 more days of this diet too, my sleeve is scheduled for March 15th. Where are you flying to? I will be in TJ with Dr. Kelly.

I am having my VSG on March 15th. I have every confidence in my surgeon. My doubt is.......will this work for me? I have been on Jenny Craig three times, Weight Watchers twice, HCG drops, Adkins, and caloric restriction. I always gain my weight back. Now that I am menopausal, I can look at food and gain 2-3 lbs. This surgery is my last hope............will it work?

Hey there everyone. This is my first posting. I just want all to know that today is day one of my liquid diet. I am scheduled to have my surgery on March 15th in Mexico and am sooooo excited. I know that my life will change. I will have a better outlook on life and my confidence will sore when I start losing. My daughter and I have already planned a vacation over Memorial Day weekend. I hope to have lots of pounds off by then. Here's to me for this decision. YEAH. Go, girl, Go.

I'll be in your boat soon. I start my diet on March 2 and will leave the cigarettes alone. I know I can do this. Plan on taking many naps. Can't eat and smoke if I'm sleeping. lol

All of your thoughts are going to be there. I am having my sleeve on March 15th. My friend had it done and she is so stoked with her new body. "The best thing she has ever done". She is now excited for me. Yes, there are risks with the surgery. But aren't there risks crossing the street? I am an RN and I have researched this surgery. I am looking forward to the surgery without any real worries. I have faith in the doctor and staff. Everything will be just fine. Put your worries aside and dream of the future. You will look back and "poo-poo" those thoughts.

wow, you sound like me. Jenny Craig, weight watchers, no carbs, low carbs, and yes HCG. It sure is tough. I'm just tired of the yo-yo diets. I'm 50 now and can't keep up. My surgery is scheduled for March 15 with Dr. Kelley in TJ. I am so excited. 33 days and counting.

I too have made the decision. I am not going to look back. The date of my surgery is March 15. I am excited and at peace with this decision.
