  1. Every dr is different, but mine wanted us to drink 3 protein shakes a day and get in 60 grams of protein. They do have protein soups, maybe the soup being hot will go down easier for you. He said the reason you need protein after surgery is to help with the healing process.
  2. My dr charged a program fee too that included 6 months of nutrionist and pyschologist visits plus 3 months of fills. I am not sure what the amount was now. I paid out of pocket for everything.
  3. I would def give dr # a try!
  4. I had heartburn the 2 times I had to have an unfill. I felt a little heartburn about a month ago, thought for sure I was going to end up needing an unfill the next day but then it went away. I hope yours goes away too!
  5. Congratulations!!! I took that same picture on the scale!
  6. My dr is in Brea and will also see other patients. I pay $150 for a fill, not sure how much a first initial visit would cost. www.oliakcenter.com
  7. I was never told to not use straws either!
  8. oh boy, I feel for you having to go through the weekend being too tight. Happened to me the last time I needed an unfill. Good luck!
  9. I didn't eat much of it the first year. Now I eat pasta, about 1/2 cup once a week. I don't eat that much bread at home, but if I go out I will have 1 piece. I used to be a big fan of soft tacos, but now my family prefers hard shell tostados so I can't even remember the last time I had one. Like Missy said above, if I want it I have it and it comes down to calories to me.
  10. 2 years is too long to think about it, just do it!!!!!!! best thing I have ever done for myself. If I could go back and be skinny at 21, I would in a heartbeat. But being 47 and skinny ain't too shabby either!
  11. I lost 83 pounds my first year. I just had my 2 year anniversary and I am down another 19. Once I hit 100 down last summer I bounced up and down the same 3 pounds, until it was 7 that I gained! I have been trying to stay around 1,000 calories a day for the last 2 weeks and have lost all that I gained and an additional pound.
  12. You definitley need to get in and be seen by your dr. If you can't eat food, something is wrong! The lapband isn't about restricting your food, you need to eat girl!
  13. I would say the risks for not having the surgery outweigh getting a new one. I would say take a chance on the second time being the charm!
  14. mis73 just posted a great link about the lapband, http://drsimpson.net...estriction.html. Read when you get a chance!
  15. great read Missy!
  16. Life is too short to not enjoy what you enjoy, within moderation of course! I log everything I eat, and if I do indulge I just try to still stay within my calorie range for the day.
  17. I was never told not to eat before my fill. But then again I always went for my visit's when they first opened up and I wouldn't eat breakfast because I would want to see the lowest weight possible....
  18. 6 weeks seems like a long time for a followup appt!
  19. I was told you need your fluid out in case you get sick from the anesthesia.
  20. my dr said it's ok to drink up until your meal and that a few sips with your meal is fine as long as you wait about a minute like you would do for food. I only drink with dinner but it is very minimal.
  21. My friend had her band unfilled last year too for surgery and she is now tighter at a lower fill amount. She has gone up in weight and having a hard time getting to the greenzone as well. My brother has the band too, has 2 knee surgeries since and he didn't get unfilled. I'd like to get my arms done, making me think twice if I want my band unfilled at that time. Anyone else have surgery and didn't get their fluid out?
  22. I lost 13 the first month, you are ahead of me!
  23. I paid $13,900 which included my first 3 fills. I am in Calif.
