  1. I flew last week and had no problem eating on the plane. But for the week I was away, def had a few things get stuck that normally would never have a problem with. I came home 4 days ago and finally feel better.
  2. great article.....as I sit here wanting to eat! Think I will have a cup of tea!
  3. 1000 is where I lose the fastest. I wouldn't pay attention to myfitnesspal!
  4. 3 months is way too long!
  5. 3 months out I was down 28....you ahead of me! And believe me, even with fills it took a long time to feel any sort of restriction. Hang in there! Though waiting til Sept for a first fill seems a little rediculous to me! And even if you are losing it doesn't mean that you don't need a fill. I lost every dr visit but it takes a while to get the band to where it needs to be. Good luck and keep us posted!
  6. sounds like you got something stuck. I would stick to liquids and soft diet for the next few days.
  7. For the longest time I was always waiting for restriction. I couldn't understand why my p.a. would tell me that it's not about restriction, it's about being "satisfied" on smaller amounts of food. I couldn't wait to be restricted! Well, it happened over a month ago and it was no fun. Had some removed and felt so much better. So now I have accepted that I may be hungry before 4 hours has passed. I can still pretty much eat anything which is ok by me. I have friends that can't eat a lot of different things that I am able to. But I weigh and measure everything out and really am pretty satisfied at the time of my meal. So, I too can eat more than a cup of food at a time, but I don't. Now if could conquer every battle in the head and not give into snacking, that would be nice!!!!!!
  8. Maybe lower your calories to 1000 a day. I lost 18 pounds in the first 2 months so you are ahead of what I was at the same time! I was pretty good at keeping it that low for the first year. Now I have a harder time. Good luck, it will come off!
  9. Lydia, I am sure you get your fills in Mexico but wanted to let you know that my dr does see patients now that he hasn't done their surgery for. Just in case you ever have an emergency situation. I know you live near by. He has an office in Irvine on Tues and the rest of the week in Brea. www.oliakcenter.com
  10. I was self pay. Had my first visit on a Tuesday, scheduled for surgery the following week Friday. It all happened so fast! I had the first visit, 2nd visit , blood work and then surgery.
  11. My suggestion to you is make sure you find a local surgeon who will do your fills if you have surgery elsewhere.
  12. My fills are not under fluoro. I will not complain anymore about paying $150!!!
  13. I am self pay and have a lot of friends who are also. Would have to beg to differ with you on not a good idea for self pay patients! I pay $150 for a fill, much better than $1,000, but I knew up front and before my surgery what it would cost me.
  14. My driver's license says 158 and the picture was taken 3 days before my surgery weighing in at 235!! You wouldn't even recognize me in the pic, I tell you bad angles at the DMV!!! My friends or I should say my 11 year old girl's friends like to look at it for a good laugh!! Told myself I would get a new one when I reached my goal and could be honest about the weight. Time to get myself in there for a new picture! It did make for a good post on facebook when I wrote I finally weighed what my driver's license said!
  15. great posts everyone! Before you know it will be next summer and what a difference a year can make! I can honestly say these last 18 months have gone by so fast for me. Just remember that the band is a tool that you must use, it can't do it alone! Good luck everyone!
  16. wow, I can not believe he told you there was a low success rate for lapband! Are you logging your intake and keeping your calories low? Journalling has been key for me. Weighing and measuring everything I eat also. I struggled for quite some time with hunger, even now the band hasn't really curbed my hunger except for when my band was too tight. My dr prescribed phentermine for 3 months for me, it really helped. I know a lot of people are against diet pills, but they were a huge help for me from about 8 to 11 months in. I wish you luck!
  17. I love my fit bit! But I don't allow myself the extra calories from exercise. Not saying that I don't go over my amount for the day at times! I lost the most when I stayed at 1000 calories a day and exercised. Both my dr and nutritionist do not believe in starvation mode.
  18. I don't have any problem with cooked broccoli. Don't think I have had raw broccoli since being banded just because I stay away from the dip!
  19. elcee.......never met a potato I didn't like!!! I still eat them a couple of times a week. Either a golf ball sized baked potato or 1/4 to 1/2 cup of mashed or crock pot potatoes. I also have no problem eating the skin too.
  20. I agree with Cocoabean. 3 days is long enough and you prob aren't going to get better. I had that happen last month too and tried to wait it out. Waited until Thursday and unfort they were in surgery on Friday so I waited til Tuesday to get some out. It was a long wait! I'd get in as soon as possible.
  21. woo hoo!!! Happy birthday and congrats on your success!
  22. bets, it's all about willpower for me too. The only time the band "restricted" me from eating anything was when I was too tight and having acid reflux. Sure, it was nice losing some extra lb's, but life is too short for me not to enjoy the food that I like. So I had a little bit removed. I can still eat bread, Pasta, pizza and I am filled 7.35 in my 10 band. Do I choose to eat those everyday? Nope. I measure and weigh everything, log it all on myfitnesspal and that's the reason for my success. In regards to the original poster.....maybe eating half of what you used to be able to is still too high in calories for you to lose at a speedier rate. Are you keeping track of how much you are consuming? And as for feeling full, that was the one thing that was hard to get used to NOT feeling. Preband , I would eat til I was stuffed. Now I measure my portions out and rarely go over what they should be. Now mind you, I rarely leave anything behind either but I am content on the smaller meals.
  23. I was where you are at just a month ago. I had 7.55 in my 10 band, about 3 weeks after the fill I got really tight. Could only eat about 1 ounce or less too of protein. I had .2 of the .25 fill removed and felt much better. So now I am back to feeling hungry again, but life is too short to not eat and be uncomfortable! I will give another fill a try next month, but just a little bit. Good luck, I'd say have some removed!
  24. will add you!
