  4. Crystal, Right after before my pre-op appointment, I started to go through the quite a sad stage, then I didn't want to go through the "last meal" phase, and that lasted a few days I felt even worse. It was the fear of the unknown, the fear of never pigging out again on the "good stuff", and I realized that my life will not be over, I will be gradually be reborn. We have the same surgery date, and I have only a 2 day pre-op diet, I'm not freaking out anymore, I just want the 25th to come. I know that once I taste success of more than 5-10 pounds, I will want more. And I can deal with that, it just getting there. We can be buddies, pm me if you'd like.
  5. I think that one may have been worse than mine. I mean thats someone you know. I didn't know the culprit in my circumstance. Well, we will show them!!!
  6. Like I said, it totally motivated me. My fear about surgery is almost gone, now I just want it over with. It was very humiliating, especially in front of the whole table. I mean was I supposed to take it as a compliement? I could of told him, yeah you look like one of those slobs on the Sopranos, but I think I have class and an am careful of other people's feelings.
  7. There are a lot of us being banded on that day. I can't wait for all of us to compare notes. I think on the surgery date thread there are like 4 or 5 of us but there are a few more people that haven't posted on that thread. Are you spending the night or are you going to be outpatient? I have to spend the night:(
  8. pmcdaniel- when you reply to a post, you get notifications of more activity on the post, not necesarily directed at you.
  9. Hi, I am 9 days away from surgery, at my pre-op appointment they asked me if I had been sick in the last month, which I said no. Well now I have a stuffy nose thats it. Will I have to reschedule? I'm not miserable, just a little stuffy.
  10. That's funny, Linda. I was in to much shock that he would do that, that loud, for me to have a quick comeback. Anyways, it definately made me less scared about having the surgery. LOL
  11. I was at my kids skating party last night and I was talking to another parent sitting at one of the tables and one of the people she was sitting with said "hey you look like that girl from the View" pretending that I didn't know who he was talking about, I kinda ignored it. Then he screams "I know who she is, Rosie O'Donnell!!" What the hell, was that supposed to be a compliment??? Nice...... I can't wait for my band, people used to say I looked like Brooke Shields!!!!!
  12. I told myself that I would never post on a blog, I don't know why. Probably because of the reality factor of actually writing my thoughts and feelings for people to see frighten me. Well here goes the official entry. My story: I was a gymnast from the age of five to the age eighteen. I was never the petite type gymnast that you see on tv, I was thicker, and quite muscular. When I quit competing at eighteen I was active for about a year later, I contemplated bodybuilding but that would mean having a body I really didn't want. Soon came my parents divorce, which I was just downright pissed over, not upset, pissed. Along came my knight in shining armor. We were friends in high school and we were instantly inseperable, and very comfortable with eachother. So it was very easy for us to go out to eat. He was a football player and I had a pretty good appetite. Well without being in the gym and working it off they pounds began to creep on. I always thought the reason why was hormonal not what I was eating. Well we got married in 1998, we started having children right away by Sept 1999 we had our first child, I was able to get down to prebaby weight until I was pregnant again, had our second child in 2001, a little bit harder to get to prebaby weight. I joine Weight Watchers a couple of times, tried Atkins, started exercising, got pregnant with our third child, he was born in 2003. Soon after he was born, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's and Hypothyroid Disease. Finally, I thought this is my answer. I will take these little pills and they will help me. DENIAL, I know. Weight Watchers on-line this time. Fourth and final child born early in 2006, and to this date know where close to getting back to the pre-babies weight. That's the long boring background of it all (except for the babies they are far from boring). So here I am 10 days away from surgery. I am so fearful, doubtful, and excited. I had my pre-admission testing done 3 days ago and I've had a knot in my stomach eversince. My doctor only has me on a two day pre-op diet. I start it on Saturday, February 23 with full liquids and on Sunday, February 24 clear liquids, with surgery on Monday February 25th. So here it is, my very long first entry ( I now promise myself that from now on they won't be this long) Here's to a little over a week of nervous behavior!

  14. YOU ROCK!!!! What an incentive to keep going, and for the rest of us who are scared out of our minds, that success is possiible!!!!!!! Keep it up!!!
  15. I started my process with my nut. counseling in May. Last year BCBS of Michigan required 12 months of the counseling then the first week of January my surgeons office called and said that its now only 6 months. So I had already completed my requirements. Just be thankful its the six months rather than 12.
  16. Hi, I am being banded on the 25th of this month and I just recieved two invitations for family bridal showers (one on March 9 & March 16). I will only be 2 and 3 weeks out from surgery. How do I handle this?? i will still be on liquids. I have only told a few people about the band, but I am having my gall bladder taken out at the same time, and they do know about that. I really don't want to be flat out obvious. My MIL and SIL do not know and I want to keep it that way for as long as I can and they will be at one of those showers. HELP!! I wouldn't have a problem not going, but I would like some thoughts, please!!
  17. Cindy & Crystal, do either one of you have to spend the night at the hospital? I do, my surgeon doesn 't do it outpatient yet. I am also having my gall bladder out at the same time ( that's something I've been putting off for years!).
  18. Crystal- same with me, I'm worried about the "cycle" during surgery. Just one more thing to worry about.
  19. Crystal did you have your pre-testing at the hospital yet? You and I are being banded the same day, and I did all that on Monday and then today I went to pay what my insurance won't (fortunately it was $783 and not higher). Anyways, I've been so moody and spacy eversince Monday. The reality that I am going to actually do this and all of the questions you have above are racing through my head, along with the failure questions. I think I have a lot to keep me distracted until then, my kids will be on winter break next week and my house needs to be cleaned for a birthday party next week. Fortunately I will only have a pre op diet for 2 days, Saturday full liquid, and Sunday clear liquids, so not to miserable. Its just my nerves kicking in high gear!!!! UHHHHHH, I just want it overwith already!!!!!!

  24. I am going to be an overnighter as well, its procedure with my surgeon. I am also having my gall bladder taken out at the same time. My surgery is at 7:30am so hopefully I can get out of there early then next morning. Now that everyone is having their surgeries, I am getting so excited. I'm glad everything is going well for everyone and I'm sending healing and head hungerfree vibes your way.
