    Recovery time

Although everyone is different, I would be willing to bet that 10 days for you to recover is plenty of time. I had surgery on a Tuesday and went back to work on Friday (and worked a full 8 hour shift). My job does not require a bunch of lifting, but it does require me to be on my feet all day. I was a little sore and tired at the end of the day, but overall I felt pretty good!!! Good luck in your journey, I am sure you will be just fine!!

    Upper GI after surgery

I didn't get an Upper GI after I had surgery. I am sure every doctor is different in regards to their testing, but I can't think of a reason why you would need to have one. I did have an x-ray though to show the position of the band - hope this helps!
  5. I guess it all depends on what kind of diet your doctor has you on post-op. For me I am on shakes and clear liquids (jell-o, sugar free hard candies, and under 10 calorie drink like crystal lite or propel are keeping me alive !!). Make sure you have a heating pad when you come home (really helps with the gas pains). For the hospital I packed my contact case, contact solution, hair tie, lip balm, slippers, and cell phone. I totality forgot to bring a pillow (helps with the bumps on the way home) but my husband convinced the nurse to let us take their's lol. Don't forget to walk - it helps so much with the pain!!! Good luck:)!!

    How long did it take...

I went to the seminar the end of November which was on a Saturday and I called the office the following Tuesday to get the ball rolling. I was banded January 25th so the hoops and jumps I had to go through took roughly 2 months. I personally would call and see what is going on... maybe even try to get the first appt scheduled.... Good Luck:)!

    Psych Evaluation

My psych evaluation lasted all of about 20 - 30 minutes. I was asked questions regarding my upbringing (abused, neglected, etc.), how my marriage was, why I was getting this surgery. It was pretty easy - I felt completely comfortable throughout the whole session. In the end he told me that he was reccommending me for the surgery and wished me all the best in my journey:)! Good luck - I wouldn't stress out too much if I were you.
  8. Hi! I was just wondering how long people took after surgery to start exercising, what did you start with, and for roughly how long? I was banded January 25th (a Tuesday) and went back to work that Friday. I feel amazing - no pain, soreness, etc. looking to get moving on the treadmill or ellipical. I am planning on calling my doctor in the morning and seeing if I can get the green light to go ahead and do something... Thank you ahead of time for your responses !

    Recovery/Returning to Work

Patti - Provided your surgery goes smoothly with no complications, it possible. I had surgery on the 25th of January (a Tuesday) and returned to work that Friday. I work at the DMV, where I am on my feet literally all day long. I was a little tired after my shift, went home and rested and was back at the grind on Monday. Good luck in with your surgery, I am sure you will do great:)! Stacey
