  1. That's great news,,I'm very happy for you, Raquel!
  2. When I grow up, I want to be just like you Makingchanges What you say makes total sense to me. I am a faithful person and maybe what you say will make me see things differently. Not about telling people because I already agree with how you are handling it, I am doing the same. When I have the surgery, I will tell people if they ask but I've been just telling people who are close to me to keep positive thoughts coming my way..I have some family and friends who aren't so positive and would probably try to sabotage what I'm trying to do. What I'm talking about is how you are giving it all to God. I don't want to take this forum to a spiritual place but He did make my body so I should lean on Him more to get me through this. I've prayed and maybe asked for too much instead of just saying,,"Here Lord,,you take this journey and lead me on it". Thank you for opening my eyes a little wider, Makingchanges.
  3. I don't know where I read that about vomiting,,or maybe I just misunderstood but thanks for clearing that up. It's still gross,,lol I'm sort of scared of this now. I have no gag reflex,,I'll end up throwing up anyway.
  4. I've been approved by my insurance but due to health problems, I have to have some extra pre op tests. The scheduler won't give me a surgery date till she gets the results. 1 of the test hasn't even been scheduled yet. I'm waiting on her call. I'm trying to find another surgeon as a back up in case my surgeon can't get me in this year. Waiting till 2012 poses a problem since I have met my ded and oop amount for the year,,and my husband's policy will change. I don't know if the new policy covers wls. I was wondering what surgeons some of you may have here in Ky? I'd like to see if I can get in just in case I don't make it through the clinic I'm at.
  5. The way I understand it, if you eat too much too fast,,you will vomit a slime like substance. Dumping syndrome has a variety of symptoms.
  6. This is a wonderful and inspirational segment from the popular news show, Nightline. This touched me and motivates me. This is for those who wonder if there really is hope after the surgery. http://abcnews.go.com/Health/woman-loses-130-pounds-months-radical-stomach-surgery/story?id=14859458
  7. I've had many surgeries,,including my organs being dissected,,you can handle this. Think of the pain and suffering you put yourself through now by being overweight. Think how much worse that it could get. You've gotten alot of great advice..you're going to do great! It sounds like you are already doing really well except a case of nerves..which I think is very normal.
  8. Congratulations, Makingchanges..awesome to hear!
  9. Congratulations! Time flies around the holidays,,it'll be here in a blink!
  10. I'm so happy all went well (except for that 90 min thing) Save me a spot on that bench now, ya hear??!!!! Congrats to my friend,,you really deserve it!
  11. Ok girlfriend,,I'm ready for an update...I hope all went great! You've been in my thoughts and prayers. Hope to hear from you soon!!!
  12. Good luck, Raquel. Don't worry, everything will be wonderful...like a new day when you awake. You will be a better Mom because you'll be able to do so much more with and for your kids. My thoughts and prayers will be with you!
  13. I don't think I'm making sense. I just mentioned Ky because that is where we live. I know it's a federal program, I have medicare also I was wondering if a program like this will offer the sleeve,,or if anyone knew: What is a Medicare Advantage Plan (Part C)? A Medicare Advantage Plan (like an *** or PPO) is another Medicare health plan choice you may have as part of Medicare. Medicare Advantage Plans, sometimes called “Part C” or “MA Plans,” are offered by private companies approved by Medicare. If you join a Medicare Advantage Plan, the plan will provide all of your Part A (Hospital Insurance) and Part B (Medical Insurance) coverage. Medicare Advantage Plans may offer extra coverage, such as vision, hearing, dental, and/or health and wellness programs. Most include Medicare prescription drug coverage (Part D).
  14. There are other programs through medicare..in ky, anyway. like medicare aarp, medicare advantage..etc..I was just wonder if any of these will pay for the sleeve?? Thanks for replying
  15. I personally have not had my surgery yet but I've heard some surgeons are really strict about it. They want you to shrink the liver so they can get to the stomach easier with less risk.
  16. Does anyone know of any Ky medicare programs that cover the sleeve? My sister is thinking of having wls and with medicare she can only have the bypass or band. With open enrollment, she's checking her options. If anyone can help,,it would be greatly appreciated!!
  17. Good luck, thoughts and prayers are with you!
  18. Awesome video, thanks for posting!
  19. I know the feeling,,I've been fighting for a year.lol I just got approval,,still waiting on a date. Congrats and best wishes..keep us posted on how you are doing!
  20. I have to get cardiac clearance and have an EGD between now and surgery so I'm guessing it'll be the latter part of Dec..as long as it's this year because I met my ded and out of pocket,,plus the policy changes for 2012 and I don't know if they are covering bariatrics on the new one..so I'm not completely relaxed.lol Good luck, fluffylibra30!!
  21. Felicia, thanks..yes it's exciting and now I can relax a little.. 2bfit..thanks,,well I just got approval, no date yet either,,we might be december sleevers together! Keep me posted. Good luck with the holidays, it's so hard,,I know how you feel!
  22. Thank you, LL!!! I appreciate all your help!
  23. Thank you, ladies. What brand shakes, soups,,smoothies..there are so many. I don't know what to choose.
