  1. Sorry, everyone..it's just been a bad day emotionally. I know with time I'll feel like this is the greatest thing I've ever done. I don't really regret having the surgery but not quite ready to say,,yay this is awesome. Eating pudding,,I just take a few baby sized bites as suggested by my surgeon to help one of my daily meds from hurting my stomach. Maybe since I'm having all the liquids I can hold up on the pudding if yall think it's going to be a bad idea. I want to make the right choices. I appreciate everyone commenting and for all the thoughts and prayers. I'm so thankful for the support.
  2. After surviving a leak, I've been put back on liquids along with my tpn. I'm on full liquids now. I tried to drink 3 oz of wonton broth and a had a couple bites of sf pudding and it is sitting at the top of my throat and I keep feeling like I'm going to vomit (sorry if tmi). Am I trying to take in too much at one time? How long does it actually take liquid to travel out of the stomach? I'm trying to space out when I eat to make sure I'm not putting too much in my stomach at one time. I seem to stay confused on how to eat now,,maybe I was one of those that shouldn't have wls, I don't know. Too late now. Feeling very frustrated.
  3. Thanks yall! happy,,unfortunately I'm on tpn,,practically pure sugar..I've gained 9 pounds back worth of fluids. I can't aim for any weightloss till I'm off the tpn. Once I am, I will be back to square one with the clear liquid diet..and so forth.
  4. Finally! I got to come home yesterday. I still have my pic line for another week or 2 so no food or liquids yet. I go back to see my surgeon on the 17th. They'll set up an upper gi to see if the leak has closed. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers, the support here is amazing!
  5. Thanks everyone for the well wishes. Unfortunately, I did not get to go home, I'm still in the hospital. My sugar went high and they are trying to get that stable.
  6. Thanks to all those who left recent posts. I'm still in the hospital..should come home tomorrow. I'll be under home health care for a couple weeks I think.
  7. I will have a homehealth care nurse
  8. Thanks everyone. I've had alot of nausea, diarrhea and a uti. I was told today my urine came back positive for e. coli..the antibiotics are helping. They told me when I can go 48 hours consecutive without a fever, I could go home. I sure hope it's this weekend!
  9. I'm sorry to scare you hon..I was just sharing this part of my journey. And remember you don't hear many of this side of the journey. Also keep in mind that all WLS has it's risks. Good luck to you, all will be fine whatever your choice.
  10. Thank you, circa and happy. Happy, I'll do my best to answer your questions. I was sleeved on Dec. 27, discharged on Dec. 30. From the first day I had a difficult time getting fluids in but I think thats normal for most everyone. I did pretty good though. I stayed in pain and my stomach would become distended,,looked like I was pregnant at the top of my stomach. My pain was mostly on the right side of my navel, if it was touched too hard it would shoot pain across to my side. Last night I became really sick, my stomach would ball up and it almost felt like a spasm,,a really bad cramp. I would get light headed and chilled. I took my temp and it would flucuate between 99-101..normal for me is 97. I called the on call nurse and she gave me a few tips thinking I was dehydrated so I did what she said,,it actually helped the pain,,a wet hot towel wrapped around my middle. She called my surgeon and he said I needed to head to the ER so the rest is history. I really thought I had a stomach virus or something..I'm totally blown away that I had a leak. I'll have a pic line in for a week or 2,,they have to keep the tummy completely empty so I can't even have a drink of water,,due to bacteria. I'm on some heavy duty antibiotics..get pain meds as needed. The nurse I had today has been with this hospital since 1990,,she said "we've never lost anyone to a leak", she said mine is very small and everything would be ok. I'm trying very hard to keep positive. I'm not really worried about the leak now as I am the process of healing,,this really stinks. Never thought I'd want a protein shake.LOL
  11. Thanks, everyone. I love this site, I knew everyone would pick me up when I'm down. LoserMama..I've had pain since surgery so it's hard to tell when it started but last night I had pain beyond pain and a fever so I just felt something was wrong. Thanks for thinking of me,,it means so much. I'll be ok,,just a hurdle.
  12. Yes, they are. I am being given lots of fluids and antibiotics,,they've cut off all food and drink and put in a pic line. They are trying to keep from doing surgery. It's just a small leak so if I do what they tell me to, we're hoping it will close up. It's a little overwhelming but I'm trying to stay optimistic.
  13. I am asking for prayers tonight. I got very sick last night and developed a temp of 101. My surgeon told me to go to the ER to be evaluated. A ct scan and upper gi confirmed I have a small leak. Out of several thousands, I'm the 2nd one that this has ever happened to with my surgeon. Everyone here has always been very supportive and I appreciate any words of encouragement. I'm feeling quite down right now.
  14. Your stomach muscles are probably weak and making your back work harder for the support.
  15. It's the first bit of coffee I've had since surgery a week ago...it's half/half. I didn't really like the taste and really set off my reflux so it's an easy sacrifice. I've gotten alot more fluids in through the rest of the day. I know how important they are.
  16. I feel like since I've had surgery just a week ago, I'm bombarding the forum with all these questions that I should know..sorry. I'm wondering if anyone could answer for me..today I've had 2 oz coffee, 2 oz protein shake, 2 oz of strained veggie soup and about 12 oz various fluids spread out through the day. I feel full to the top of my throat, I feel like I have something in my throat. My upper stomach is distended (and still so sore..have doc appt tomorrow). I'm also gurgling like a choking fish. I'm afraid to fix my afternoon snack or any dinner..I also haven't used the bathroom much at all today. Is all of this normal?
  17. Probably a dumb question but when we are able to eat solids, should I focus on fixing all my food healthier or eat whatever I want but in small amounts? If there is a secret, I'd like to know. My fear is that I won't be able to prepare my food to taste good..I'm an all flavor person. I hate bland food.
  18. Thanks everyone, my husband found the literature that had all the info I needed on it. It was along with my discharge papers.
  19. I have several pills that I can't mix with others, like my thyroid med..vit d will deplete it so I have to take some in the morning and I take all my supplements at night,,whew.it's a chore but I do what I have to do. Yes, I hope with time I can get off of alot of these pills. Thanks for the fb,,I guess I'm doing everything right.
  20. I'm a week out and starting full liquids tomorrow. My problem is, I don't know how much I should have..how much is enough? I feel full all the time due to the swelling. I have no regimine I'm following because I just don't know how to do this. I have a pill box with 20 pills I have to take each day and I can hardly get those down, then I have to drink all the water. Where can I get my protein in? I thought this was going to be easy for me but it's not! My manual gives examples of idea shakes I could use but doesn't tell me how much I should be taking in and how often. I'm so afraid I'm going to over do it and not even know it.
  21. I was just wondering why my doc had to make 6 incisions. I was on morphine when he came to see me before I was discharged so I don't remember anything and my husband didn't know what to ask. I'm calling tomorrow to make my follow up appt so hopefully I'll get answers to my questions then. I'm not concerned about the scars. I've had 3 kids a c section, hysterectomy, abdominal tumor removed, exploratory and gallbladder removed so my stomach already looks like a road map.lol
  22. Yes, I'm still taking them,,I have to. This stabbing pain is very uncomfortable. I am calling in the morning to make my follow up appt so I'll ask then..unless I end up at the ER tonight. Thanks yall!
  23. I got 6,,seemed like alot to me? Maybe not?
  24. I'm 6 days out and kinda expecting to move around pretty well and not suffer as much pain. However, I have a softball size area to the right of my belly button that hurts every which way I move. It's a stinging..like burning and stabbing pain. It has never eased up and it takes my breath away sometimes. I was just wondering if this is normal?
