Wow you are soooo lucky. I had to sleep in a recliner until day 5 post op. Laying flat in my bed just wasnt an option. I am now 7 days post op and finally sleeping in my bed. I feel lots better now and have even lost 5.5 pounds since surgery (not including the 4 pounds of air they put inside me, lol) Good Luck on your journey!
Wow i didn't even know anything about telling the doc to take out the air or I sure would have. you would think they would all know by now to just do it!!! less pain for the patient! but yah i think that is the worst part post op. it seems to take forever to get rid of it. wow you are doing great with the wt. loss. i heard you sometimes gain at first post op instead of lose because of the swelling and healing process going on in your belly and the increased fluid. so i wasnt expecting to lose much right away. but good for you that is really great!!!! keep up the good work!!

My surgeon gave me copies of pictures they took from my surgery. They were gross!! But then again, I don't like any surgery pics. I did email to my sister (who lives several states away), who wanted to see them.
I am really glad I got the band. I've done pretty well, since being banded on 09/08/10 and no problems w/food, but everyone is different.
Good luck to you.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!

First of all congratulations. I was banded 12/30. I can tell you there are more good days than bad. I was on a 2 week pre op diet and had 2 bad days, i am 10 days post op and have had a couple "bad" days where i thought i just had to eat. Keep busy, i dont think you have the problem, keep your mouth busy if you are allowed to chew gum or hard candy etc. Follow the doctors orders. I havent cheated one time and the weight loss will show that. I did catch myself yesterday when i was cooking i stuck my finger in it to see if it was warm and then licked it off, i caught myself and spit it out, it was only a grain of rice but its not on the diet! lol You CAN do this, you HAVE to do this, and you WILL do this. I wis you the best of luck and keep us informed.
YES GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR JOURNEY - YOU WILL BE SUCCESSFUL BECAUSE YOU HAVE DETERMINATION! I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN - I WORKED AS AN LPN FOR 17 YRS. RETIRED NOW. I AM ON DAY 7 OF 2 WK. PRE OP DIET. IT IS ROUGH BUT EACH DAY GETS A LIL EASIER. KEEP US POSTED ON YOUR PROGRESS!

YOU'RE RIGHT - I DO WANT IT BAD ENOUGH - SO I AM DOING IT EVEN THOUGH I HATE IT! IT DOES GET EASIER WITH EACH PASSING DAY THOUGH. THANKS AND CONGRATS TO YOU TOO ON YOUR JOURNEY!
-

YAH - IT IS RUFF FOR SURE! CONGRATS TO YOU ON YOUR WT. LOSS. YOU ARE PROOF THAT IT WORKS!

Is there any way you can select a different drink? I drink EAS Myoplex Lite and have been for 13 months and still love it. I am not a breakfast person so that is why I still drink one a day! I had a two week pre-op that was 3 shakes a day with nothing else. No cheating. I agree with Amy..if you want it bad enough you CAN do it! You have to find a drink because you have to do the drinks whenever you get a fill. I know Bklynike (one of the supporters on here) she disliked all of the drinks as well...she came up something similar that worked. You might want to touch base with her and suggest it to your doctor?? Just a thought. Good luck with your journey!!!
Oh one last thought..are these premixed or are you mixing them?? Do you keep them in the frig or are you drinking them room temp?? Mine are premixed and I keep them in the frig..they have to be super cold but you cant freeze them.
YES - I HAVE TO MIX THE PROTEIN SHAKE WITH 8 OZ. SIM MILK. I ADD ICE TOO. I THINK I AM FINALLY GETTING USED TO THEM. THANKS FOR YOUR INSIGHT!

you can do it. They warned me about the bad mood, mine happen to hit on Christmas day, it was day 9 of my pre op diet and i found myself snapping at my family, there will be a few rough days before and after, but it is WORTH it. I had a bad day yesterday (8 day post op) but it passed. Keep following the diet and you will be ok. We are learing a new lifestyle.
YOU ARE RIGHT! IT DID PASS. TODAY IS A MUCH BETTER DAY - THANKS!

Congratulations to you on deciding to take control of your life once again. I made the same choice. You will see each day gets easier. You have to have will power though and never give in to temptation. I am on day 7 of my pro op diet. I am to be banded on 1/17. keep us posted on your progress. Good luck - you can do it!!!
-
Thank you
-
Good luck to you both! I am also getting banded soon - Jan. 17. I am also overwelmed at times by all the info you have to take in. I guess my best advise to you is just take it one day at a time. That is what I plan on doing.

oh boy - you're going through the liquid diet phase. good luck with that! that was rough for me. but the time does go by quickly. before you know it - it is surgery day! yah - def remind the doc about the air removal. i didn't know anything about that or believe me i sure would have spoke up about it. why don't they just automatically remove all of it for the patient's relief I wonder? well good luck and i will be thinking about you on your surgery day. keep us posted post op!!!
