Keep the "fat" comments coming.....
My Grandmother is the same way. She'll invite my family for dinner and when we arrive she'll say "how are you doing? It looks like you've gained some weight." she says this almost everytime, even if I've been losing weight. Recently, I started to confront her. When she makes her comments I respond with "wow gram, that really hurts my feelings. You shouldn't say things like that to your grandchildren." This usually stops her in her tracks. Also, my gram is not a very lovey dovey person. I dont remember her telling us grandkids she loved us as children, although i know she does love us. I've been making a point to tell her that i love her and encourage the other grandkids to do the same. She's not just negative with me, it's all of the grandkids, just with different things. I'm hoping that this will help her to be more positive with the others as well. So far, so good!

Lapband TALK, not labband SEARCH
Love it! Thanks for that!

Am I a whimp???
You're not a wimp! I work from home and found myself taking afternoon naps and going to bed earlier. I think anytime your body goes through a trauma, like surgery, you just have to sleep it off. I also think that as we age our bodies take longer to heal and it takes longer to get back to normal. Give yourself a little longer to recover!

night hunger
I'm so glad I'm not the only one! Great tips too. I'm gonna try a protein shake and an earlier bedtime too!

just banded
I didnt either for the first couple of weeks. Don't worry though, the hunger will come!

Fill frequency
My dr recommends every 2 weeks. I think you should follow what your dr is saying. I kind of wish my dr would let me come in weekly! Lol!

Had 3rd fill
I'm so glad you asked this and I hope someone responds! I just had my first fill of 4cc and I also have an 11cc band. I have very little restriction. I do need to eat less, but I can easily eat any type of food.

Head Hunger or Real Hunger
I had my first fill of 4cc last week and felt immediate restriction. Then, 2 days later it was gone! Ugh! I'm also struggling with being able to tell the difference between head hunger and actual hunger, so thanks for asking this question!! I'm scheduled for my 2nd fill on the 18th, so hopefully I will have some lasting restriction! Good luck!!

VENTING
Its almost like people consider WLS a form of lipo! I had a coworker tell me "oh, so you're taking the easy way out?" recently. After I got over the initial rage, I explained to her that WLS is not easy, in fact, this is one of the hardest things I've ever done. It's not lipo, you still have to work and damn hard too!!

Smoking tests?
I was a smoker and quit prior to surgery. I slipped up a few times, but still considered myself "quit". I didn't tell my surgeon and he didn't test my blood or even talk to me about smoking on the day of surgery. I have slipped up a few times since surgery as well, but I'm determined to quit. Good luck!

Weight Watchers help
I guess that's what I'll keep doing. I love thier website. It's so user friendly. My dr didn't give me any guideline of how many calories to eat, just that I should be eating 3 meals a day with 3 ounces of protein in each meal, 1/2 cup of veggies and 1/4 cup of carbs.

Weight Watchers help
I guess I should've been more clear. I'm 3 weeks post op and my dr has cleared me to pretty much eat any wholesome foods. I like the weight watchers website for tracking my food and activity. I expressed this to my dr and he said it was an excellent program and as long as I'm getting my protein that I would be fine. I asked this question because I have been tracking since I started on solids and I'm only eating 8-10 points per day. I'm just curious if other people have done both and what they have experienced.

Weight Watchers help
I posted this in the lapband fills section, but figured I should've put it here. I was banded on 12/15/10. I have always loved weight watchers and would like to follow the program now and just adjust it to fit my new lifestyle. I signed up for the online program and took the quiz and it says that I should eat 31 points plus points per day. Obviously this is way more than I can eat now. Does anyone else do this with a band and if so, how many points do you eat and what is your weight? Thanks!!

My stomach itches
I have experienced this after my C section 5 years ago. I always thought it was my nerves "coming back to life" after the surgery. It lasted for several months and finally tapered off. I'm not experiencing the itching with this surgery except for my incision sites so far. The only advise I have is to keep it moisturized. I used (and still use) Burts Bees Baby Bee lotion. It's not greasy and works wonders. Good luck and happy new year!

It's official... I'm starving!!
I'm getting my first fill on Jan 6th. I can't wait! You're absolutely right, if I had will power I'd be thin and healthy without a band! I hope I get some restriction with my fill, but at the same time I'm trying not to bank on it. It seems like it takes some people a very long time to find thier sweet spot!

It's official... I'm starving!!
I was banded on 12/15. At first, I felt no hunger. I'm sure this was because of swelling. Somewhere around day 4-5 I got my appetite back, but after eating a small amount I was full. Now, I feel like a bottomless pit! I'm trying to stick to my drs plan, but I'm always hungry! I can not wait for my first fill and I'm hoping it will make a difference. Any tips to get through this "bandster hell"?
