  1. Hey everyone! Sorry I don't check in very often. Starzz, I had a very easy time with my insurance. No problem getting approved. I had surgery on May 17, 2011 and have lost 60 pounds so far. I wish you all luck!
  2. I am back at home now from surgery. It went very smoothly, but I have hernias that have probably been there since I had my twins. My dr said it was no big deal and he would repair them in 4-6 months. The pain really has not been bas at all. I wih all of you luck and hope that your surgery goes as well as mine did.
  3. Thank You!! I check in at 10:30am and surgery is scheduled for noon!
  4. Tomorrow is the day!! I was a little nervous before, but I think I am ready for the change!! I have lost a little over 20 pounds on the liquid diet I think. My scale at home is not that accurate. Wish me luck!!
  5. I am glad that I am not the only one.
  6. Hey, thanks for the replys! I was hoping that I still got to eat them. My kids love them too. We made about 5 batches of pickles from our garden cuccumbers last summer, and I would like to do even more this summer.
  7. My surgery has officially been scheduled for May 17th. I start my pre-op diet on May 3rd. I am very excited. Did any of you have a "last Meal"? My dietician told me that she didn't reccomend it because I will be getting food back, but I feel I want to have one last really good meal before I start the liquid diet. Thanks, Michelle
  8. I think this may be a crazy question, but here it goes. I love dill pickles. I buy them from the store, and in the summer I plant a garden and grow my own cuccumbers to pickle. I have heard that after surgery, fruit and vegetable skins are had to get down. Do you guys think I will be able to eat pickles? They are a lot softer once they are pickled. Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts. Thanks, Michelle PS I am being banded May 17th. I start my liquid diet May 3rd.
  9. I am so happy to read your post. I have BCBS Empire and I am hoping to have surgery the second week in May. My weight loss surgery office has everything they need now to send it off to the insurance. I called them today and the insurance nurse said that I was second in line for her to complete my stuff and send it off. I hope this means that it will be sent off this week and maybe I can hear back next week or the week after. I am just so anxious to know that I am approved and that I can schedule surgery. I have hit a little bit of snag. My insurance did not require a sleep study, but my weight loss center did. I was sure that I did not have sleep apnea, but of course the sleep center called me today and they say that I do. I don't want to wear a CPAP, but I will have to, in order to get clearance for surgery. I was really upset about it at first, but Idecide to try and make the best of it and move forward. Thanks for sharing about Empire, it makes me feel very hopeful.

  11. I am hoping to get banded the second week in May. My husband has taken that week off so he can help out with everything. Everything should be submitted to the insurance company this week and I hope to be able to schedule soon.
  12. I know this question will not pertain to most of you, but does any one out there have Blue Cross Blue Shield Empire insurace? I am just starting my journey. I have made an appt. with a dietician because the insurace nurse that is helping me told me I would need one. I can't call Empire and talk to them because I won't be switching to Empire until after Jan. 1st. I guess I am just worried about how long the process will take. I guess if it takes 6+ months I will just have to wait. I have been obese most of my life anyway. Thanks in advance for any replies. (this is my first post.)
