  1. I did not have to do a pre-op diet....and although I hate to admit it, I ate everything in sight up to midnight the night before my surgery (and guzzled about 4 cans of soda)...and everything went fine Don't beat yourself up, just get right back on track! Good luck!

  3. Hi Everyone, I was filled on Wednesday (7.2cc). I am now having trouble getting much of anything down. I must admit that I do have a BAD HABIT of eating fast. I am trying to chew more and eat slowly. The majority of what I have been eating is getting stuck, including eggs which are soft and I end up sick each time for well over an hour. I am able to eat chili and yogurt, but that is about it. * Is this what restriction is...getting food stuck so you physically cannot eat or is restriction feeling full quicker after you eat? * Can I attribute all of these episodes to eating too fast and not chewing enough? * Or is it possible I am overfilled and should have a little removed? I would greatly appreciate any advice...Thanks!
  4. I think you will be fine....just try to stick to what your doctor said. As for me, I did not have to do any pre-surgery diet so I am pretty sure you will be okay.
  5. Thanks everyone - all of the info is much appreciated
  6. I have been there. I was so hungry 2 days after surgery, I called my doctor. They basically said that I was probably a quick healer and that I had to tough it out so the band healed properly. I only had to wait 7 full days after surgery and was able to start eating on the 8th day. It was VERY difficult, but I just stuck through it. I was actually brought to tears at the time. I wasnt allowed to have Protein shakes either. I was only allowed broth, Jello, Clear liquids, etc. I hate broth and jello so I basically drank Water or watered down apple juice. I never thought I would be so happy to eat scrambled eggs...lol. There is not much else that I can say other than try your best not to think of it (although that is probably all you can think about) and you will eat soon enough. Good luck --- I know it is hard, but it will be well worth it! Oh, and I was able to have sugar free ice pops --- this really helped me get through it
  7. I am also 34 and have been overweight for years. I do not have PCOS, but getting the lapband was the best decision I ever made for myself. I am down 60 pounds in just about 4 months and feel so much better,. Good luck to you in whatever you decide to do!
  8. What is the point of liquids for 24 hours after being filled? I was able to have some mushy food and was just wondering if this was ok...hope so. Thanks
  9. After the initial week of surgery, I had lost about 18lbs and then for like 2-3 weeks, I was at a stand still, but all of a sudden, it started coming off pretty regularly at about 10 + pounds per month. Hang in there - If you are anything like me, I know you are anxious to lose, but it will happen! Good luck to you.
  10. Hi All, I had my fourth fill today and am at 7.2ccs ---- I have an 11cc band. What happens if I get to 11ccs and still dont feel the restriction I need? Would this ever realistically happen or am I being completely paranoid? I am not even 4 months out of surgery and my band is over half full so I am just a little concerned because I thought I would need to get fills for years to come and at this rate, there won't be any room left....lol. Or is it that after a certain point, you only get a little bit here and there and that does the job? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!!
  11. Thanks for the feedback - Yes, I make sure to take all of the toppings into consideration @EBUSA - I am only a little over 3 months out of surgery...I am not sure exactly, but probably about a month and a half or so was when I first ate at subway. Fortunately, I am able to handle most foods, but I am finding after a few fills, that I need to remember to take my time when eating and chew well. Sometimes I forget, take a bite and dont chew it well and it gets stuck. When I first came out of surgery, I thought I would never have bread, Pasta, pizza, etc. again.....I was a nervous wreck...lol. But I realized that I really can enjoy lots of those things in moderation so long as I eat slow, chew well and dont overdo it. Good luck to you!
  12. Sometimes for lunch, I get a 6 inch subway sandwich (280 calories and 4g of fat). I typically finish the whole thing feeling guilt free being I am having meals ranging about 300 calories each. Can anyone tell me if this amount is too much food? I hope I am not stretching my pouch. Thanks.
  13. Thanks everyone!!! WIll definitely heed all the advice
  14. Hi Everyone, I was just hoping to get some advice/opinions. I am a little over 3 months out of surgery and have had three fills to date (presently at 6cc). There are times when I still feel hungry after I eat, but I try my best to stick with the right portions. I am keeping my calories at about 1200 per day and my dr. said to stay at this level since I am consistently losing. The dr. also said that after the next couple of fills, I should really feel restriction and the hunger should subside. I am just wondering when others finally felt as though they were full after a small portion? Also, can you please share how many calories you take in per day? Just wondering if maybe I should attempt to decrease to 1000 calories per day. Thanks!!!
  15. It is basically a very uncomfortable feeling of tightness in my chest. I also experience foamy saliva in the form of throw-up...I try to walk around, remain calm and it passes after a few minutes. I tried to drink something the first time it happened and that only irritated it more. It is uncomfortable and scary the first time, but it made me aware to chew food well.
  16. I am female and initially had about 90 pounds to lose. I am down 45 pounds since my surgery on February 11, 2011. My first fill was on 3/10 (3cc) and my second fill was on 4/15 (5cc). There have been weeks in between where I have lost nothing or one pound and there are other weeks where I have lost 4 or more pounds. Here is my journey so far: Post Surgery: 2/11 - 2/18: I lost 16 pounds 2/19 - 3/10: I lost 11 pounds 3/10 - 4/15: I lost 14 pounds 4/15 - 4/20: I lost 4 pounds I am sure the weight loss will probably slow down a bit and I am usually the rush-rush type, but as long as that scale keeps going in one direction, I am happy. Good luck to you!
  17. I think what you are feeling is completely normal and you are not alone. I am a little more than 2 months out and there are a lot of things that I have been able to enjoy that I thought would be out of the question. I have had pizza (but instead of eating 3 or 4 slices, I have had one small slice), a small portion of pasta, a chicken wrap, and I've even been able to eat a subway sandwich. If I eat a tougher type of meat, i.e. steak or a pork chop, I just make sure I cut it small and chew well. I've managed to eat out quite a bit and just force myself to make smart decisions. Believe me...you will not be deprived once you become more comfortable with it. There are times when I think about what I used to eat and feel like I just want to take a huge bite of something and indulge myself (i.e. a bacon cheeseburger and mozz fried with gravy...lol), but then I reason with myself by saying that I can sample things in small amounts --- I just don't need to devour things like I used to in order to enjoy them....a small taste can be satisfactory without overdoing it. Eating for me has been a lot different than how I thought it would be....I was under the impression pre-surgery that I wouldn't be able to eat certain foods ever again, i.e. bread, pasta, etc. and this truly scared me, but fortunately I have been able to tolerate just about everything in small doses (while watching calories/fat, etc. of course). I think the payoff will be worth it! Food will still be enjoyable --- just in a normal way! Good luck to you
  18. I am a little more than 2 months out and there are times I could definitely go for a bacon cheeseburger and mozz fries...lol, but I try to think of the long term --- and to be honest, there are a lot of things that I have been able to enjoy that I thought would be out of the question. I have had pizza (but instead of eating 3 or 4 slices, I have had one small slice). I've been able to eat a subway sandwich (slowly). 19. I had my surgery in February and was petrified that I wasn't going to wake up --- to the point that I was actually crying on the way to the hospital and tearing on the operating table. My husband said the doctor came to see him and was done with the surgery in about a half hour! Before I knew it, I was in recovery and have been doing well ever since....I can honestly say no regrets! Good luck to you
  20. My friend uses a weighted hula hoop and she is in great shape....looks like a lot of fun and supposedly 10 minutes a day really helps tone your abs....just wondering if anyone has ever used one and if anyone knows if it is okay to use with the lapband??? Thanks
  21. I too came out of surgery weighing more than when I went in....it will come off...don't worry
  22. I just had my second fill this past Friday (5cc) and I am still feeling hungry after eating. I eat 5 times a day, 3 meals (1/2 cup) and 2 snacks (1/4 cup)...is it typical that I would still be hungry?
