Snacks On Pre-Op Diet?
My pro op was a 2 week liquid diet so snacking was not exactly very exciting,.... But I had sugar free Popsicles which saved me from going out of my mind. I think it was the hardest thing I ever had done..... But it prepared me for the three week post op liquid so it was pretty manageable Good luck!

What Is Your One Main Motivation?
My health was the biggest motivator. I didnt want to die of a heart attack of carrying an extra 200 lbs around. I didnt want to get high blood pressure, diabities and all the other problems which were borderline....I watched my mother die from problems compounded by obesity in 2009 and in 2010 the light went off and I made the decision to make some changes in my life. It was the best decision I have ever made.

Sodas
My Dr forbids it. That said... I asked why... since Diet Coke and I had a very special relationship. He told me that its the carbonation. When you drink it your stomach expands because it passes thru the pouch. When it moves on... the stomach contracts. If you do this numerous times a day...your band is at a bigger risk to move and break away from the stitches causing possible slipage. That said... In the 21 months since being banded I confess I have craved a DC a few times... so I opened one up...let it sit for 20 minutes then sipped very slowly. And to be honest... I didnt much care for it so really can take it or leave it now.

I Call My Band "big Ang"".....what Nickname Do U Call Ur Band
I call my band my "permanent reminder of a temporary feeling". I can't take credit for the words I give that to Jimmy Buffett. is the name of one of his songs from years ago... but it fits perfectly. if you listen to the song it is a good fit for so many things but for me is the perfect name.

August 8, 2012 Bandster
it took me about 2 weeks before I was feeling back to my old self. the body must have time to repair it self. However consider yourself lucky .... I wasnt able to eat anything but liquids for the 3 weeks after surgery! My Dr was very strict.

I have 17 to goal but quite frankly if I don't lose any more I am happier with my weight than I could have ever imagined Stick with it..it is worth every sacrifice when your butt fits into a size 10!

Taking Big Bites
I did the exact same thing. I use a baby spoon when ever possible and also used a small plate which I still do when I am at home. I cut absolutely everything up in small pieces.... Still do that as well 20 months later!

How Soon After Surgery Did You Add Things Like Liquid Grits, And Watery Soft Foods?
You are describing mushie foods which I was allowed at day 21. My first were mashed potatoes. I ate 2 tblsp and was so full! I had 2 weeks of mushies which were normal mushie things Like tuna, applesauce, sugar free pudding, peaches, pears, hummus and v 8 juice because there was no way I could eat mushie veggies! I never at grits tho....

Self-Pay How Soon Can I Have The Surgery?
I was a self pay in Tampa. My first consult was October 20 and my surgery was December 9. During those 7 weeks I had a psych eval, met with the NUT, had blood work and preop cardio testing and my 2 week liquid diet which started the day before thanksgiving. My hubby was so supportive we took a few dAys off prior to beginning my 2 weeks of liquid hell and took a 5 day road trip up the coast eating all my favorite foods and drinking lots of adult beverages. It was a ball but I was SO ready To get banded after all that fun! Fun y but just a few weeks ago we took a road trip up the coast and visited some of the same places as I did that weekend... I didn't over indulge and managed to lose a pound! I love my band.... Hope you do too!

How many bags of sugar have you lost
39.4 bags of sugar.... Funny hubby was rolling his quarters the other day and he tossed me the bag and said...how much do you think it weighs... It was pretty heavy but I had no idea of the actual weight... So I got on the scale... With and without the $$$. It weighed 14 lbs and I couldn't help but thinking I have lost 14 of those bags!! In case you are interested 14 lbs of quarters in about $300! LOL

Has Anyone Had Lapband Surgery With A Heavier Weight/bmi?
- Port Placement
I am answering this on my mobile so cant read your profile to see how long you have been banded but I can tell you mine seems to have moved... whether is actually moved or the fat around it shrunk and it moved it I can't answer however I know it was uncomfortable in the beginning and now not so much ... nothing that bothers me in anyway- The Psychology Of Size
I keep wondering when my head is going to catch up! I do not see myself as thin yet. I am wondering if I ever will ...which may not be a bad thing because I am so deathly afraid of gaining any weight back I will always keep it on the forefront of my mind. but I can completely relate to you with regards to shopping I spent 20 + years buying 3 x 4 x 5 x ...and now I am buying 10/12!! it is completely mind boggling to think that this is actually me I am shopping for and not someone else.- I Feel Bad I Had A Drink!!!
- How Do You Buy Clothes?
If you are going on a cruise in Sept... you could buy a swimsuit in late July... if your area doesnt sell them in the stores hit up Old Navy online.... they usually have some really good sales about then.... Ihave been an old Navy shopper throughout my journey..,.. its disposable clothing because its inexpensive- Losing Weight.
I have averaged 11 lbs per month.... for 17 months. In the begininning it came off faster but now that I have 30 more to go its about 1-2 lbs per week....- What To Expect???
I was self pay as my insurance didnt cover the band (Aetna PPO) so I dont know how long your process will take but mine was 2 months from the time I went to my first appointment... did the Dr required evaluations, scheduled the surgery and did the 2 week liquid diet. I can promise you... if you are committed... its worth every step! Just remember... the band will do 70% of the work. you have to do 30%. Good luck!- Is There A Connection?
I was just 50 when I was banded... but was having regular cycles... including the month of and 1st month after surgery. But then I skipped the 2nd month after surgery...went into utter panic since there should have been no way I could have been pregnant.....and havent had a monthly visit since. I have no idea why... my dr cannot explain it... although I am scheduled for my yearly soon where he will test my levels and determine if I am post menapausal.... either way.... I do not miss the cycles or the weight. ....- Am I Normal?
I went back to work 5 days after surgery but It was 2 weeks before I felt 100%.... Be patient... and drink as much water as you can. - Port Placement
