  1. I think I am going to cut off all eating at 8 pm . That leaves me an after dinner snack and hopefully, I can try to convince myself that I am not allowed to eat past 8 pm. I really want to do that pouch diet but the first two days are killers. The first two days are just like being on the post op diet.
  2. Yes, I can totally support you. You need to cut up your meat into itty bitty sliver sized bites before you start eating. It's too easy to take too big of a bite and start eating like you don't have a band. Take a sliver of meat and chew it until you can't possibly chew anymore. If you do that, I don't think you'll have a problem.
  3. Congratulations CC! It feels so good! What is this show damages? I have never heard of it. What channel is it on? I am so glad to see Chickie back posting here again!
  4. Wow! I am glad you got that checked out and made sure you saw a doctor!
  5. Brandy, Be glad you are in Eugene. We have Walmart, JC Penny and Fred Meyer and that is about it. It was in the 60's again today! yay! You get fog in the winter and we get it in the summer.
  6. I think we should start a new one for 2009!
  7. I was never sick or nauseous. I really could not tell I had a band until I got a few fills. Just keep sipping and follow your doctor's orders for your post op diet. It will get easier. You can read the board and do a search up on the right side of the board . Search for bandster hell.
  8. Hopefully the swelling will go down and things will get easier. If you aren't able to sleep and the sliming continues, you may need the er. I had a patch behind my ear that helped with nausea.
  9. When I was in the hospital for 5 weeks on bed rest, my friend brought me one of those cross stitch things. It had nothing printed on it and you have to stitch according to counting the little blocks on the fabric. I never finished it, but it was very time consuming and took my mind off how badly I hated being in there. I was not allowed out of bed for any reason. They brought me so much food I had to sneak into the bathroom and flush some of it down the toilet. I would no sooner finish Breakfast, and they would be bringing me a big sandwich. That was way before banding though. My son was very healthy when I had my C section as soon as his lungs were developed, so it paid off, as miserable as it was. We are all thinking of you!
  10. I agree with Jacqui. Being too tight only leads to problems. Having an itty bitty unfill makes all the difference in the world. People actually lose better when they eat better, even though it seems like we would lose better when we can hardly eat at all.
  11. Stomach growling hunger is nothing compared to head hunger. You can feed stomach growling hunger with good Protein like chicken and get rid of it. It's those nasty cravings in the evenings that get to me. come 7-8 pm, I am not physically hungry, but my brain starts with the "what can I eat?" If I eat a sf pudding, then I want something else right after. Sometimes I think it's better not to eat anything in the evenings, because once I start, I want to eat all evening long. Head hunger is the pits.
  12. It's the carbs of any sense. Once they are in your system, all they do is make us crave more carbs. Carbs are evil. It doesn't even matter if it rice or noodles, they make us crave sugar.
  13. Brandy you're not far from me at all. I go to Eugene a lot because shopping on the coast really stinks. I just made plane reservations and I am flying out of Eugene to go to Phoenix. That Alligiant air has some great rates. Why are there so many poo threads. Some people can't poo and everyone wants to talk about their bathroom habits once banded. I guess at least we are better than that DS thread Bubble posted about where they talk about how much they stink.
  14. Brandy, I am sorry if you told me this at some point in the past. My only excuse is that I am old with a bad memory. Where are you in Oregon? We have been having summer like weather. It's supposed to last another week. I knew there was a good reason I moved away from Chicago. LJM, congratulations on your date! We will all be waiting in anticipation on that day, if you don't go into labor sooner.
  15. My grandmother used to hit me with her cane. Brandy, where do you live in Oregon?
  16. Your IP address 71.94.243.88 Our database shows the following information for this IP: Country: US State: OR City: COOS BAY Zip: 97420 IP address shows Coos Bay OR which is just down the road from me, but I actually live in North Bend OR 97459
  17. I went to they gym and exercised my brains out for 3 years and never lost an ounce. I thought I was dieting, but my portions must have been too big. I was never successful without the band. If that were true, all the people on LBT would not have gotten the band. Those that could lose the weight, gained it back plus more. I don't get why Policeman does not go out of town. My dr. is charging 10,000 for the band now. Even with plane fare, it would be way less. His complication rate is the lowest in the entire Pacific Northwest. He is a center of excellence, which is almost unheard of for a town this small. They went over his records and stats with a fine tooth comb. There are probably a lot of great surgeons closer, who are doing this for a much better price that what you have been quoted. You can find someone cheaper. The recovery rate is going to be the same no matter where you go. It just depends on your body. It's getting fills that you need to figure out if you go out of town. Why finance a huge amount if you can get the surgery for a good price by another excellent surgeon?
  18. Yes, I started the exercise way before I got the band. I started going to the gym regularly trying to lose weight. I never lost an ounce in the 3 years I was going before banded. So, exercise was just a part of my routine. I was a slow loser. I lost 22 lbs on the post op diet then did not lose anything for 4 months. I always plateaued, for about 3-4 weeks, then would suddenly drop 5 lbs. I never lost the 2 lbs per week like people say.
  19. That's what I was talking about when I said it's what they call a soft stop. If you don't stop when you get a hicup, it's going to be a problem. Mary said her hicups are not related to eating though, so it may not be band related. Some people just get them and I am not sure why.
  20. Are you cutting things up into very tiny eraser sized bites? If you do that and chew until it's liquid in your mouth, and it still comes back up, you need to have a slight defill.
  21. My doctor says he can tell by the pressure against the needle how much to add or take out. He waits a long time for the saline that is in there to come out to make sure of what I already have. Sometimes, it seems like it's not all in there, but eventually, more trickles back out. It would seem if you explained to your doctor that .50 or 1 cc isn't working for you, that you need something in between, he should listen to you.
  22. No, they have not. I don't know why they get them and can't get rid of them. I do get a hic ups when I am eating and I am getting full. They call this a soft stop. If you're not getting them while you're eating or when you're getting full, it may not be band related. I would try calling either your surgeon or your regular doctor.
  23. I really don't see why you can't go out of town. I had my surgery on a friday and went back to work on monday. I know you're in a different line of work, but recovery is going to be the same, no matter where you have it.
  24. I take all sorts of pills. Some I break in half. I take them with warm Water. Warm opens the band.
