  1. That's so crazy Susan that they made such a big deal out of $5. That's just insane. Especially since you are an established patient. I have had ulcers a couple of times and never threw up. I just had terrible pain. They can do a blood test now for an ulcer. It's a test for H pylori which is a bacterial infection. They used to think ulcers are caused by stress but now realize most of them are bacterial infections. I hope you get your diagnosis soon. You've gone through so much with your band and it's time to start feeling good. I thought of you Elizabeth and WasA when I was talking to that lady from Texas. Her band wasn't slipped, but she has been miserable ever since she got a fill. I am beginning to think bands are worthless. Mine is in my purse. ten grand sitting in my purse.
  2. I am so happy Dr. campos loaned me his lap top. they are all such sweethearts here. I was in pain all night and really only slept from 5-7 am. I had that horrific left shoulder pain people talk about when getting banded but I never had it then. Dr. A told me when he came in that he forgot to tell me he fixed a hiatal hernia so he had to blow me up with extra gas. I've been walking all over the place, trying to get a signal on my phone. I walked a block from the hospital with my cotton house coat on. The anesthesiologist said "Hi " using my first name. What a good memory. Everyone here is so sweet, especially the nurses Lucy and Sergeo. I am not bothering with caps because I am not used to typing on a lap top. my daughter said mine arrived and she has it at her house nice and safe. My main pain is my back and neck because I can't take my celebrex. I am not having any trouble getting my liquids in. I have had 2 bottles of Water, 2 glasses of tea, the purple stuff they used to see if it came out in my drain ( and it didn't) a glass of apple juice and a glass of something orange that I am not even sure what it was. I am a little annoyed that all but 2 of the channels are in spanish and both channels are C.B.S.. I haven't felt like reading because my neck hurts. Tomorrow I get to drink that nasty stuff and get my drain out. I guess today starts as day one of my Clear Liquids? The people are great here and I highly recommend it to anyone thinking of getting a sleeve. I am so glad WasA found dr. A for all of us. He and his staff could not be more wonderful!
  3. Ha Ha what happened to my 20 minutes? that¨s ok I was awake and glad to talk to you . leaving for the hospital now! I´ll find a computer somewhere so I am able to check in over the next couple of days.
  4. The Lucerna Hotel has a business center with computers set up so I am able to check in. Ernesto has already lost 25 lbs! Dr. Campos looks like a baby. I asked him if he is old enough to be a dr. I lucked out and met up with a lady from Texas who is Hispanic. She wanted to go to the mall. I got a good tour of Mexicalli. The taxi drivers drive like maniacs. I feel so bad for her. She hasn´t been able to eat solid food for months. She came down here to see if her band slipped. She is moving to Greece. Dr. Aceves did her band so i told her i doubted if her band slipped. Dr. Campos completely unfilled her band as she has been sleeping sitting up for months. She´s had her band as long as me with only one fill and has had nothing but trouble. Makes me glad I am getting mine out! Dr. Campos gave her a prescription for Nexium and told her to stay on liquids another week. Dr. Campos completely unfilled my band and told me to eat whatever I wanted so I had burger king in the food court. luckily, the lady I met speaks Spanish because nobody in that mall spoke English. I had a lot of tests done and will be the first surgery in the A.m. I am enjoying Mexicalli but my phone doesn´t work here so that has been a problem. I´ll try to borrow a computer tomorrow at the hospital. Thank you everyone for your good wishes!
  5. Well I am leaving for the airport to go to San Diego. It's a 2 hour ride to get to the airport. I am excited and hope I didn't forget anything because I took care of my grand son this morning and he is a handful to watch and get anything done. I don't have a lap top but I am hoping somebody will let me use a computer so I can check in. Talk to everyone soon! Daisy
  6. Susan, I hope you are feeling better!
  7. Thank you Elizabeth. I am really excited and ready to get this journey started
  8. There are many people who have the band and it works fine for a period of time. Then, all of a sudden it does not anymore. Maybe the stomach just doesn't like having a big piece of silicone wrapped around it?
  9. The sleeve is where they just make you a tiny stomach. There are no fills or unfills. I am really sick of worrying about restriction.
  10. I will be getting my sleeve next week- 4-29. I leave for San Diego tomorrow and will spend the night there. I will be picked up tuesday morning for testing and having surgery Wed. I'm so afraid that Dr. Aceves will find something wrong in there and tell me I can't have the sleeve. I am a natural worrier though . I don't have any reason to believe that there is anything wrong in there, and I sure hope I don't! Nice to meet you Violet!
  11. Yes, you would be able to see a slip on the screen. Usually with a slip, you are throwing up all the time and can't even swallow Water. Are you paying for every fill? If you aren't , go back and get another one with the fluro. The test is called fluroscopy. I may be spelling it wrong. It's what you described though. they can still the liquid go through the band and how fast it's going through or not going through at all.
  12. yes, you need to see your doctor and have an esophagram done so they can see what's going on in there. Don't let it stay like this. You can damage your esophagus.
  13. You would think if they are doing your fill with fluro so they can see how much the band is causing restriction , you would only be able to eat a small amount. I don't have the answer but I am hoping somebody will be able to answer your question.

There are so many people that spell like something sounds. It's not even close to being spelled right. I take statements all the time from people at the attorney's office. It makes me wonder if any of these people went to school. Some of this is 4th grade grammar. My mother in law likes to say "I and dad went to the store" ggrrr
  15. Are you talking doggie style? I would have to say you'll be able to tell. If you're uncomfortable or in the least bit of pain, find another position. We like to both be on our sides facing each other and there is no stress to any body part. It's very comfortable.
  16. Way to go Elizabeth! I loved it when I had my trainer. Do you have a lot of trouble getting those pills you mention down in the morning? I take a lot of stuff. I have interstitial cystitis and there are a lot of herbs that really help with that. If I don't take them, I fee like somebody is shoving a red hot poker in my urethra. Sorry TMI but I just want to show how necessary it is that I take those. I figure I can dump most of them out and put them in Water, as they are capsules. I bought some chewable Calcium and Vitamins, but I am also worried about my hormones. Those I take at night. My estridol is a patch, but my progesterone is a capsule and it's some kind of oily stuff in there that I don't think I can get out. I'll have to get that capsule down somehow.
  17. It doesn't seem to matter how scrambled eggs are cooked but they seem to give everyone trouble. rice gets gummed up at the opening of the band where the food goes down into the stomach, causing a plug. It's just like a plug in a drain. Stay on liquids, runny oatmeal, yogurt, things like that for a few days. See if the swelling is going down. If you still feel like you're having trouble even with those foods, it's time to call the dr.
  18. okay, it's the weekend now so you can't get an unfill easily. Going on liquids for a couple of days is good advice. I forgot about that. My dr. always has us go on liquids for 24 hours then mushy for 24 hours after a fill. Scambled eggs and rice are 2 things that give most people trouble once they have restriction. If you want to try to stick it out, do the liquids (Protein shakes and soup) for 1-2 days then the mushies for a couple of days. You do sound swollen now if you're having trouble with liquids too. Call your doctor for sure Monday if liquids are giving you trouble over the weekend.
  19. That's funny Mac. I haven't really had ffs in over 2 years. I may have had one here or there, but I can't remember that I did. I don't eat out nearly as often as I did pre-band.
  20. I just found this thread. Remember I will be gone all next week getting my other surgery. After that, I will be in the chat room a lot as I will really need support. I have no problem now getting over 64 oz of Water in these days, but from what I have heard, it's not going to be all that easy after next week.
  21. I stopped getting them months ago. Alex doesn't understand it. He can email me and it goes through just fine, so he says I should get my email notifications. I just go to user cp now and it brings me to subscribed threads. I gave up wondering why I don't get emails anymore.
  22. This is what people refer to as pbing. It stands for productive burp, but it's really puking. The drooling is what we call sliming. It's the body's way of trying to produce liquid to make the food go through the band. You need to take itty bitty bites and chew until it's liquid in your mouth. If you do this and it continues to happen, you need a slight unfill.
  23. I would be a total nut case without exercise. It's a total stress reliever. I am going to go crazy when I am not released to exercise and probably will go back to the gym just like I did last time, before I was released to exercise.
  24. It took me 3 fills to feel any difference at all. Before that, I felt like I had no band at all. You need another fill.
  25. I wanted to tell people that vitacost.com has anything you could possibly need and at very good prices. Their shipping is 4.99 no matter how much you order. I ordered a bunch of stuff, plus the chewable calcium citrate and chewable vitamins.
