Fill question
It's nice because they can see the saline going through the band and can tell exactly how it's flowing and whether it's too tight or not tight enough.

only 6 days with a band, should I do VSG
I really don't see how a band could slip so quickly. that just does not sound right to me.

Sublingual B12
Thank you! I just looked up causes of hair loss and it said 4 months after major surgery, people experience hair loss. That is right when mine started with banding. I hope it's not just a fact for me that if I have surgery, I lose hair. I stocked up today on all the necessary vitamins and supplements, but then again, I did that with banding and lost it anyway.

Sublingual B12
What symptoms would you have if you needed B12?

it's always better to do it under fluroscope. If you don't have to pay extra for it, that's the way to go.

Am I damaging my esophogus?
That is perfect advise. Throwing up frequently is not normal.Throwing up in the middle of the night, coughing and choking is definitely a sign of problem and one needs to get to the doctor. Yes, the esophagus is being damaged.

*Susan* revision from band to sleeve
It is possible that you are not losing because you are too tight. The band is meant to work with hard protein. People that are too tight tend to eat soft high calorie foods that don't stick with them and they are hungry again soon. If you're sure you're chewing until liquid that first bite that you said you get stuck on, and still throwing up, you need to get a slight unfill. I would try that before anothe surgery. Are you exercising?

Insurance in Mexico
I didn't know there was an airport in Calixico. I had to be picked up in San Diego.

Band Out, Sleeve In! It's done.
Thanks. Dr. Aceves also told me to take Zinc. He said hair loss was related to not enough zinc. I need to pick some of that up too.

Band Out, Sleeve In! It's done.
Right, but that would fall under my thousand $$$ deductible. I can go to the dr. and pay a co pay but any tests come under that deductible.

Insomnia
You could very well be in what is caused perimenopause, although that would be early. It goes on for 10 years before actual menopause. Insomnia can start in perimenopuase. Sometimes doctors will prescribe anti depressants for people who can't sleep. some of them cause people to feel drowsy but you have to be careful cause the side effect for a lot of them is weight gain. if he offers you any antidepressant, look it up online.

Band Out, Sleeve In! It's done.
Elizabeth, on another thread you told me to get my blood checked. Didn't Dr. A check everything with all the bloodwork they did? I have 1,000.00 deductible on my insurance, and after spending all that money getting my sleeve, I don't want to run up a big dr. bill

Don't get another fill if you're getting food stuck now. Being too tight is not good and not the road to weight loss. In fact, you may consider getting a slight untill. People don't eat right when they are too tight.

*Susan* revision from band to sleeve
I forgot it was hot there. It's 50 degrees here. I bought some tomato soup from my dr.'s office today. it's 80 calories and has 15 grams of protein and only 4 carbs. I am concerned about keeping my protein up because I was told protein is necessary for healing as well as I don't want my hair falling out again. It's been over 2 years since banding and it's still not recovered.

I am glad I like them. I like them a lot in fact. I thought you said you like the whey gourmet pb and chocolate? There are also some recipes on the food section of good ways to jazz them up. Susan, did you ever get any of the hot chocolate? Cottage cheese is also pretty high in protein.

Why You Shouldn't Eat Salad
Salads are one of the only ways I get my veggies. I use spinach instead of lettuce and put in broccoli and cauliflower, carrots, etc. That article is nutty.

A whole new world of shopping
Ross is a great store. It's so much fun to find good deals. I have also enjoyed Old Navy. I never used to be able to fit into their clothes.

Is my doctor qualified?
You're lucky you have a support group. There are so many people who don't have a support group because they leave the area to have surgery. My surgeon that did my band does not care where you had surgery. If you have had WLS, you are welcome at support group. I love support group. It's really nice to watch everyone's progress, and lend support to those who are struggling. He insists that he sees better weight loss long term from the people who come to support group. He always has a great guest speaker. I look forward to it every month. I am on the way there now! I also like being able to buy some of the stuff he sells. It's yummy. It's not any more expensive, when you consider the price of shipping from stuff you buy online.

It's Time...
Do you have a particular reason that you don't want to go to Mexico? I absolutely love Dr. Aceves. He is a fabulous surgeon and they treat people like royalty in that hospital. The only cost to you besides surgery is the cost of plane fare to San Diego. Everything else is included in the price.

It's Time...
Glad to have another sleeve member coming on board to our little neck of the woods so to speak. I see from your signature you have to wait until August. I hope the time flys for you. Dr. Pleatman has been on this board answering questions from time to time, and I think that's nice of him to take the time to do that.

Insomnia
How old are you? My insomnia started after I went through menopause. I didn't know there were long term effects of Ambien. I take it all the time. Another thing that works well but this you can't take all the time is Kava Kava. I also will take Valerian with over the counter Unisom. It has to be unisom in the orange box. There is another unisom which has the same ingredient as benadryl or any of the other sleep aids such as sominex. This is a different ingredient. I usually change off with these things because Ambien will not work for me if I take it every night. Oh and one more thing my dr. prescribed for me for sleep is Neurontin. It's actually for seizures but it's being used for all sorts of things now such as nerve pain and insomnia. I would not sleep at all if I didn't take something. I am often up until about 3 am on the weekends just because I am wide awake, have things to do, and don't feel drowsy. Eventually, I force myself to settle down and take my medication for sleep. It's very common in menopausal women, but I don't know your age.

Skinny time!!!!!
Yeah, I really don't get it. Yesterday I had tomato soup I had gotten from my band doctor. I was so full after that I could not even drink water until about 4 pm. I felt like I had eaten a turkey dinner and went back for 2nds. I really don't get it. The tomato soup was not thick. It's just about the same consistency as all the protein drinks I have been drinking, and has the same amount of protein grams. I finally got to feel like what a sleeve is supposed to feel like.
-
*Susan* revision from band to sleeve
I am not having any trouble getting all the protein in. I was drinking 4 drinks with 20 grams each when I was so hungry. Yesterday I had only 2 but then I remembered I needed more, so in the evening I had some protein hot chocolate.

Oregondaisy's turn for sleeve surgery
I have been drinking muscle milk which is a RTD. It says no lactoce on the container. Before that, I was mixing unflavored whey prtein into crystal lite. I have also been drinking that soy slender that Elizabeth told us about . it's good.
