GREAT Idea! I was wondering why I only had the option for positive feedback. Didn't have anything negative to say but didn't know why the option wasn't there. But now that you explain it I think that has got to be probably one of the best ideas I've ever heard of.

    Polygamy Sects

Jennie, we are going to have to agree to disagree on....a lot. (I was going to put a wink here to indicate tone, but it seemed so inappropriate for this topic.) Respectfully, could you indicate to me which of your posts was the one about the laws in Texas? The only one I thought relevant was the age of consent, and that covered a lot of states. In retrospect, of course everyone looks at the tank and the guns and says "oh!the children!". Well, here in Texas well look at a walled up religious sect and think- Waco. Personally, I think the FBI made the biggest fustercluck in history, and are responsible for the death of every individual that died, including their own men. But this is a state where the gun ranges have ladies' nights. Do I want them to take the pregnant girls away? Yes. I see the forced statuatory rape, with parental permission or not, as systemic child sex abuse on a community scale. None of the marriages these girls are entering into are legalling binding, so none of the men or the parents are protected by law. Of course, it's not feasible, so it's better for them all to stay together, where they can at least not feel like freaks in the world. I can honor a lot of things, and I can find faith in a lot of different religions. I cannot find honor, faith, or any kind of god in a religion that requires women to submit en masse to bullies who basically use them for baby and f'ing factories. Who run off any young men because they know if those young girls have any choice, they won't look twice at their daddy's friends. To me, that "church" is nothing but a pedophile's utopia. They breed their own.

    Where are you, Karen?

Thank you Lesly!!! Don't worry darlin, it will come off slowly but surely. There may even be a time when I stall and you catch up to me! I have been learning that weight loss is a funny thing. It's varies by individual and even varies for that individual. I have a tendency to loss about 10 lbs all at once and then will stall for two or three weeks before I suddenly cascade downward again. Others lose about a pound a week. So just keep at it. It will have. Maybe sooner, maybe later, but you WILL get there!

It doesn't matter when the port infection happened, you had a port infection. People, what he is saying is entirely possible. I have no clue if it is true or not, but I have a hunch it might be true. It would not be the same as a perf (for the EMT) the tubing/colon would sound more like an erosion type issue. That is not a matter of life threatening TODAY, that is like..."Really important, mega important and this has to be fixed ASAP." OP... I wouldn't be pushing the talk show circuit just yet. This is a potential complication of banding. We all know there are risks to banding including the unknown risks. There is no promise that you won't die of surgical/band issues. Not making light of your issue, just saying that you are talking big right now because your family thinks you should go on Oprah. I knew there were risks to banding and I'm living them right now. So I'll deal with it. But to go into this thinking it is 100% safe and no chance for bad things to happen is burying your head in the sand. I have a hunch that 85% of what you say is true and maybe 15% or so is frustration and ... well, a bit of drama. But maybe if I experienced the same I'd have some drama too. I don't know. Good luck to you.

Yes, Penny I know your opinion on this, but you see there are other opinions as well. There are all kinds of support, some of it is tough to hear, like when a Mother tells her kids not to do something they want to because she fears it will hurt them. I have said this journey is hard and I have said many times that until we get restriction it's very hard. But for people that are five weeks or less post op, I would think that even if they can't control their hunger and might eat a little more than they should, couldn;t they at least make good/healthier choices. Since the band will not prevent certain foods from going down easily, wouldn't it help our long term efforts to practice some of those eating habits, even without good restriction. I'm not talking about losing weight during this time, I'm just talking about those people that might not be making healthy choices, so soon after being cut open. I do not try to ridicule people, just suggest that they get back on a track so they will be successful in the short term and the long term. Tough love works for some and hand holding works for others.

Welcome Christy! I'm just starting my process and I'm also a low BMI person 5'7" and 255 with just barely 40 bmi, but with horrible degenerative lumbar disk disease and high blood pressure (which is totally controlled with medication). I'm still waiting for authorization to see the bariatric surgeon which hopefully will come today then it will be all of the tests before they will submit to Healthnet for final approval.
