Mine is a clear liquid diet for three days + milk. I'm in my second day and honestly I'm so hungry. I was losing weight prior to surgery but with the amount of milk I'm drinking I've been stuck on the same weight these 3 days. I prefer to eat a tuna salad that actually fills me up at lunch, than a carton of milk that does nothing for my appetite. But I know I have to stick with doctors' orders. But it sucks.

Issues with solids. Plz help me!!!

You have to retrain your tum just as someone said, like an infant. So you can't easily go from liquids (yogurt is considered a liquid in my program) to dense solids without issues. Use meat lube (broths, gravy, braising liquid, and sauces) to lubricate your bites. Make EACH bite the size of a pencil eraser. Chew to kingdom come. Add a little lube. And swallow. Then wait a minute or two to see how it settles and repeat the next bite. If you feel discomfort, stop. My progression was: Foil wrapped fish (white fish litely poached in broth and seasoning in foil). tuna and salmon mixed with tons of Greek yogurt and dijon mustard, hb egg, and 2% cottage cheese and blended until almost smooth. It was VERY wet and loose. soft scrambled eggs mixed with Greek yogurt of light sour cream to make them very loose and creamy. soft boiled eggs with butter. over easy fried eggs. egg white puffs (my fave!!) sugar free and savory egg custards. roasted smashed cauliflower (like mashed potatoes but low carb). refried pumpkin soups/stewps/chili made with turkey chicken (canned) green bean casserole made baristyle chicken pot pie casserole (no crust) made baristyle lasagna bake no pasta made baristyle and then I progressed to things like salmon, ground meats, then chicken, pork, beef dense and lean. I could not do burgers for months--way too dense and heavy feeling and too much fat.

I had to take tiny bites and wait 30 seconds between bites so you may want to try that. I was cleared for all meats by 6 weeks but did have a few weeks between full liquids and meats with some soft foods so maybe try that next? I do also have issues if the meat is to dry. It didn’t agree with me either.

like someone else said, chicken is hard for a lot of people at first. Try something softer and moister - like shrimp or tuna.

Chicken is a NO go for most people, Also there is not set time on eating again, I am 7 months post and still really do not eat alot. My advice is slow down let your body decide - Start with a Shrimp or Crab or soft white fish like halibut No oils no fats good quaility and eat it slow - It will pass and eventually you will be good to go. I agree also puree it Nothing better then a lobster tail pureed into a paste and eaten slowly. Have fun its a journey and it will all come with time

    Calories and macronutrients

I agree with @AZhiker Years out, things look different. Best advice is from your dietician. Only my two cents, Finding personal weight loss calories and macros: to start, I set my calories in my food log app to 1200 - 1300. After two weeks, I dialed my calories down by 100. My body started losing weight. Find a range that works for you (Dial calories up or down by 100)

I’m on day 6 of my preop liquid diet. Things I have learned. Liquid in means liquid out. Be aware. Chicken broth makes this even worse! Don’t trust farts You’ll be tempted to cheat. Don’t do it. Find something else to distract you. Plan on hiding from people. It’s too hard to be around food. Stock up before your diet starts. It’s too are to be in the grocery store. Good luck!!!! You can do this!

I hope to hear from others too. Will you share this info? I'm looking at the least per week that we can afford to do and still pay for the payment processing each month and the fees to keep track of it all. I'm also looking at any sales tax implication, so hope to have some feedback for y'all soon!!! Wooohoooo a real LIVE online support group, accountability partners and book club dealing with the head work and behavior modification.
