Lots of doctors recommend not weighing for the first month because your weight can be so volatile and disheartening in the beginning. You'll be OK, just try to relax.

    1st purée meal

I'm Aussie so my chilli recipe will be heretical but that's ok. Get this, I put a carrot, a zuchinni, a capsicum in the blender and chop it up. That goes in the chili after browning the onions. I use mince/ground beef, and the spices I use are cumin, Paprika, cayenne pepper, chilli, cinnamon, oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and seasoning salt. Oh and definitely a can of chopped tomatoes, mushrooms, and two cans of kidney beans. Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app

I don't even have luck with a blender. They always clump for me.

PRE OP Weight loss Mind Games

I thought the same thing! But honestly I'd be starving without the restriction of my sleeve. I'm lucky in that I have no physical hunger. Just head hunger and in the mornings I feel empty. Or hollow. Best I can describe it. I think we all wonder "what if...?" Sent from my Pixel 3 using BariatricPal mobile app

It's a big decision to have surgery. I think most of us second guessed and questioned our decision. If I could do it on my own and keep it off I would have. I have lost and regained many times. I needed something long term.

    Dreams

although I don't think I had such dreams (I usually don't remember my dreams, so I don't know for sure), I suppose that's not uncommon when people have upcoming surgeries. Just rest assured that WLS is one one of the safest surgeries there is - safer than a hip replacement surgery. Mortality rate is something like 0.3% on the bypass, even lower for the sleeve. That means there's a 99.7% chance you're going to pull through just fine. Complications aren't common and, when they exist, are usually minor. I had a stricture, which happens to about 5% of bypass patients (making it one of the more common complications). It was an easy fix. Try not to worry about it - this is a very low-risk surgery and I'm sure you'll do just fine. You're at more risk staying overweight than you are having WLS.

    Jealousy?

Admittedly I'm jealous that she seems to be putting very little effort in and seems to be doing well. I am not undermining my own progress, I've lost 120 pounds so far, and 90 alone from surgery. I have completely overhauled my diet and life. But I am still jealous of her ability to eat whatever and still lose weight. You are working hard and seem to being doing things the right way for long term success...You've lost over 100 lbs and that speaks volume. Please don't feel jealous of her but feel sorry for her because like the other posters said, her weight will come back unfortunately and guess what...those same people trying to get you to eat junk will be talking bad about her and saying that she should have been like you and turned down the junk food. yada, yada, yada...It's her life though. I know people as well who's had wls and did the same thing, never changed their eating habits or lifestyle and the weight has returned. Keep doing you, we are proud of you and here to support you. PS: You may want to distance yourself from her so as to not pick up her bad habits, be around positive people that are going to motivate and encourage you. 😉

Hi bypass lady it does get better - this is the toughest patch by a country mile! The stitch is likely to be the gas they pump 8nto your abdominal cavity to separate your organs so they can do the surgery more easily. It does get absorbed, but it helps if you are up and about walking around, moving that gas. Are you drinking water? Way more important than food just now. Your best mantra just now - sip sip sip, walk walk walk. And dont forget, a general anaesthetic messes with your emotions. It will pass! And then the good stuff happens! Just stick to your programme...

    Post your progress pics!

Going into 6 months post VSG and I fluctuate between 55 lbs and 53 lbs lost. I should be farther on in the process but to be honest I am not being as disciplined as I should be. here is me on my birthday a few days ago as compared to me just before I did VSG. I was SO thrilled to go into a regular store (not a plus size store) and buy this flower dress which is a size 16. I wore a size 22/24 dress at the date of surgery
