    New and Scared

I feel you on the fear. I was there not too long ago. I have been making excuses to my primary care doctor for the last 5 years. Then the blood pressure meds got prescribed, the thyroid meds got prescribed and the glucose started to creep up. I went from saying "what if" something went wrong during the surgery to "what if" I don't address my obesity. In my case and in what appears to be your case as well... the what ifs for surgery greatly out weigh the what ifs against surgery. Most surgeons have monthly if not weekly informational seminars. That did it for me. He presented the success % numbers with vs without WLS.. also met people who have gone through the surgery. Maybe check out a seminar or a local support group to calm your fears. We are all here for you! Cheers, Rob

That’s awesome to hear. For me it’s not a hot topic issue but I don’t understand the mentality behind ‘ if he says no leave’ ... Seriously, I’m sure your vows was in sickness and in health, not ‘ when you don’t get what you want, I’m leaving’. Compromise is what you aim for in a marriage, and if everything has to be your way or his way, then it’s not really a marriage. Genuinely wishing you all the best!

    Work Lunch ideas?

You had surgery in November? So you should be on mainly regular food by now. Leftovers from dinner - protein and veg reheated. Hardboiled eggs, cheese, tuna salad, chicken sausage, some wings, broccoli chicken soup from home, chili, taco meat and refried beans, cottage cheese and half a tomato, etc.

    Help?(:

Are you familiar with the concept of head hunger? It's when your brain says, "Feed me!" even when your body doesn't need more fuel. It's a huge contributor to weight gain. MANY of us have experienced it. My suggestion is to really understand the concept & be prepared when it arrives. That will give you a huge advantage before & after your surgery. Good luck! You are not alone.

    1 week post op -19lbs

That's a lot of weight to lose in your first 10 days! Sounds like things are off to a really good start. Nah, you don't really want that cheesesteak, you just think you do. It's also good that you're working to establish a routine. That will be helpful later on.

I've been married for 15 years . . . and there is absolutely no way my husband would refuse to talk to me about something important to me. That would be a HUGE issue in my house. I think you should address that first. Ultimately, it's your body and your decision. I know it's a lot harder without support, but if this is something you really want, you may just have to do it. Maybe he doesn't fully understand the health risks at your current BMI? If that's the case, make sure he does. It's not a question of "if" you're going to have health issues - it's really a "when." I know it's not exactly the same thing, but my husband was not supportive when I first wanted to go back to school. He thought I was going to be wasting money and I wouldn't follow through (in fairness, I was young and a little flaky then). When I got my bachelor's degree, I got to say "told you so." When I got my master's, I got to say "SUCK IT, DH." So . . . I do understand that it's hard to make a decision without your husband's support, but I also know it can be done!
