I have to be real careful because I do love bread, especially morning bread products (bagels, muffins, biscuits, flavored breads), but at the same time I like that I can still enjoy these items on occasion. I try and limit my intake but I will have half a bagel or a sandwich from time to time. I have a good friend who is 4 years out from the sleeve and she cannot tolerate bread at all, like even the smallest amount makes her feel awful and she struggles with it.

    Help. In Pain.

Hmmm. I’m not allowed beef until four months post op and my surgery was 12/2. Anyways I started soft food this week. I noticed if I eat a bit too fast, or do not chew chew chew, I get a sharp pain behind my sternum. I don’t know if this is what you are experiencing or not but be mindful of the size of your bites, how fast you are eating, and make sure everything is chewed thouroughly. I likely would not try beef for awhile either. My biggest problem is slowing down. I have always been a fast eater.

I am 11 months Post-surgery and I am doing great. just hit 100 lbs lost and 5 lbs past my goal. feel great. the hair loss has been bad for me also. I get the same comments, "STOP LOSING" it is a bit irritating but oh well they mean well. just another way to say I look good. so this point in not really trying to lose weight but I'm still losing about 4 lbs a month. Opinions to stop losing weight

I've seen a number of posts on this subject, and it often seems that family and friends are reacting to the change rather than making a legitimate assessment. Another factor may be that loose skin or some other changes make you look different/older/whatever. But a lot of people say these things become less drastic over time, so I wouldn't worry about that at all. Otherwise, you have to take into account what your doctor recommends and, ultimately and finally, the weight at which YOU feel your best.

It's an adjustment for them. I understand that its bothers you to hear "don't lose more weight" It may be out of concern or it may be a compliment. Reassure them you are healthy. It will pass with time once you are maintaining. It's hard enough for us to wrap our heads around the weight loss. Some of the comments kind of mess with your head a bit. I went to a check up at my surgeon's office. The nurse comment "if you gained 10 more I would look less skeletal" I was at goal 140 and a healthy BMI.
