Thanks everyone! That sharp pain went away on the right my second day after surgery. I am still feeling the tightness in my stomach but that's just normal. Today I got up and went with my family to Sam's club to walk around some. I got tired really quickly and came right home. I guess I just need to build up my stamina again. I'm so happy to be on the other side of the surgery. I don't regret this decision at all!! Sleeved 10/10/17 • HW 280 (3/1/17) • SW 259 (10/10) • GW 180 (TBD)

Items to have on hand post-op

For post-op at the hospital, has anyone mentioned lip balm? Wet wipes? A sleeping mask?

Just ate a lot - scared

No, you haven't lost restriction. Unless your stomach has stretched to the preoperative 40+ ounce capacity and you can easily accommodate 10 bacon/egg sandwiches at one sitting, your restriction is still there. People seem to be under the impression that the immediate post-op phase in which their tight, swollen sleeves allow them to become full off 3 to 5 bites of food lasts forever. Nope...the stomach continually relaxes and accommodates more food over the years. Per bariatric surgeon Dr. Matthew Weiner's videos, this is a normal phenomenon. By 3 to 5 years out you can expect to accommodate three-fourths to 1 entire plate of food (8 to 12 ounces). But just because you can eat this much doesn't mean you should. Good luck to you.

Did doctor office call to check on you?

One week and a day post surgery. Find it odd that my doctor's office nor the hospital has called to check on me. Isn't that the norm that someone calls to see how you are doing?maybe it's not.

My doctor called me about 48 hours after I got my lap band plus had given me his number in case I had any issues and said to call. That was several years ago. When my lap band was removed in February 2017, my current doctors office called me the following day to check on me. I appreciate the follow up and think it is very thoughtful of them to do this as I know it can be time consuming. But let's face it, there might be little things going on that we don't think anything about and by asking you a couple questions and giving you an opportunity to tell them how you feel you very well could proactively catch any post op complications before they get worse rather than wait a few days until you are miserable enough for feel justified to call them to ask if XYZ is normal. Better to be proactive rather than just reactive. 🤗 Sent from my XT1635-01 using BariatricPal mobile app

When I got my surgery date I went on a food farewell tour. Went to all my favorite restaurants and ate my favorite foods. I felt that I probably wouldnt be going back to those restaurants or eating those foods. Six weeks post op I’m feeling good about the surgery and best of all I dont miss the restaurants or food. From what I’m reading food funerals or farewell tours aren’t unusual.

    Aetna Insurance denied & Appeal

Have u or ur daughter called Aetna customer service to speak with someone personally to find out what the reason for denial was? Or are u getting the info second hand from the doc? I would suggest calling Aetna if u havent already. I wish u and ur daughter luck whichever route u need to take.
