    Coffee

I believe if memory serves me well (previous avid coffee drinker here) coffee is too acidic and will irritate the new stomach. It also may cause acid reflux.. I follow a few sleevers on insta( they're about a year out) and drink coffee from Starbucks Peet's etc mix coffee in their premiere protein which I tried on the preop diet and bleh.. chat with your dr see what they recommend! Good luck![emoji256] Lapband placed: 8/2011 Lapband removed: 3/2017 VSG: 8/2/2017

    Self control

One of the things I am fascinated by, is how little I'm eating/and still FUNCTIONING. I'd expected to be exhausted at the lower calorie count, but guess what, my body still runs when I'm not having gazillions of calories. Hmm, imagine that! I'm trying to drill that into my head during this honeymoon phase.

    VENT MOMENT

Oh Lord have mercy. What a huge emotional state you must be in, so sorry. I am glad you came on here to ask for support. Can you lean on a close family member? Or a minister? My first granddaughter, Alexis died at 18mos at the babysitter's. Funeral was the coldest iciest day in February and the blackest day of my life. Then 5 months later there was a murder-suicide in my family. I was shaken to my core and had to talk to my priest several times as I could not reconcile the anger and disbelief - it was my brother and his illicit girlfriend, they were both married. He had three grown daughters and she had two little girls that were left motherless. I cried and prayed and cried and prayed, it was not the brother that I had known. That was 20 years ago and I still have no answers to it. Turning to food will not really provide any fix for your anger and grief, as soon as the food is consumed it will be there just as big as before. There is no going back. Don't be too strong, go ahead and feel the grief. I wish I could hug you right now.

    Orange juice

I drink my protein in the morning only when I walk. I have unflavored and I mix 2 scoops for 50 grams of protein because I just don't like to drink it all day. My meals vary like yesterday I had 12 Cajun steamed shrimp from Captain D's and today I had a 8oz Michelina's dinner I split up for breakfast and dinner....and it's 9g protein.... I've had people think I don't eat but I just follow the rules I eat 4 oz per meal and I drink anything but carbonated drinks.... I like a sweet tea every few days but I drink lots of water

    GAINED 4LBs....8 weeks post.

Ok, so you are right about getting full. I do too, and so I don't combine my food, I eat one thing at a time for the most part. Since the scale is a problem for you, it IS a good idea to get rid of it for daily use. Taking a day to do some reorganizing prep work will pay off. My main dish I use all the time is an 8oz bowl. See if you have a container that size. Use your scale for this. You want the container to hold 8oz of water comfortably; full, but not right up to the brim. You can practice putting 4oz of various foods into this container to learn what 4oz looks like. Then put the scale away. If you usually eat out of this container, then you will always know how much to eat. If it is a little less or more than 4oz, it doesn't matter. Your stomach will tell you when you are done. If you want help creating a meal plan, PM me and I'll be happy to go over some ideas.

    Hot and Cold Flashes

I got a bad case of chills and related shaking in the hospital on the second day. I think it was a combination of lack of sleep, stress, anesthesia side effects, and stress. I experienced twice more in the subsequent days, but less and less. The Docs checked me for infection and there was none. I do agree, this is something you should contact your doctor for so they can check it out. But just to say, I had some rough cold chills and trembles during those first few days and now it appears to have receded. Good luck!

    Saying it outloud

I think the exercise/eating dilemma is at play here. Exercise makes you hungry, you don't have the same restriction you once had, so you tend to eat more than you need. Even just a couple hundred extra calories a day is enough to put that kind of weight on in no time. The oft-quoted sentiment applies here: "You can't outrun your fork". Time to make a plan. Count your calories, weigh/measure, etc. It's not fun. It's not simple. But ultimately, we all have to do it, one way or another.. and not just for a year or two. It's forever.

    Energy level

Hi I am 2 weeks post op and I am walking 2 miles but afterwards I am so exhausted. So today I only walked 35 minutes instead of 48 and I am still totally exhausted. My Dr. said to walk 1/2 hour in the a.m and 1/2 hour in the p.m. Does anyone else have this issue with energy?
