    First Day of Pre-Op Diet

Im brand new to this page but felt it would be great to get some support from those sharing the experience. Ive been overweight most of my adult life but its been in the past few years that things have gotten bad. Ive tried every diet there is 3 times over with little success. Ive been hypnotised, had diets prepared based on my blood type, seen dietians, seen psycologists and nothing works long term. Ive come to my own conclusion that I need to be physically stopped eating. And this seems like my best option. Im booked for my sleeve surgery on the 26th of July. Until today Ive felt nervous, unsure and a bit scared. But Ive started on Optislim today and I now feel like my journey has final started and Im ready to get this done! Having said that, today has sucked! I was fine this morning but once I got past lunch time, I started to feel heady and yuck. My worst time to eat is night time when my kids and husband are in bed, so Im nervous about how Im going to go tonight. Im also a bit fearful of those first few weeks post surgery. And I spend a lot of time wondering what the long term impacts of this surgery will be - like 10 years +. My surgeon said there isn't much scientific data beyond 5 years so I do wonder what the impact could be on my 30 years from now. Having said that, I realise that if I continue to put on weight there is a good chance I wont be here in 30 years! Anyway, thanks for reading my first post. Ill look forward to any thoughts/suggestions/tips anyone may like to share!

    Just a little vent!

I have two nutritional consults left out of 6 that my insurance requires. One is next week and the last is the last week of August. I called my doctor's office today because I need to go out of town the week of my last visit (for work) and was basically told I couldn't move it to the week before or the week after because I can't have a visit with less than 30 days between it and my last visit and can't go past 30 days because I WILL HAVE TO START OVER!!!! I just kept my appointment and will have to try to juggle the work thing. This is my last visit and have kept every other appointment religiously!! The doctor's office said the insurance will deny me otherwise and I only have 1 appeal. I just don't think she has good info IMO. Ok, rant over!

    A good problem, but . . .

As someone above mentioned some cleaners may take in items inexpensively. Just a thought for some of your less expensive items. Good luck- yes it's a great problem to have! Thankfully I have a lot of items I couldn't part with front he last time I lost weight so I have clothes from size 12-16. I have a great friend who had a lot of professional high end clothing that she gave me size 16-18- I was a large 16, 2xl tops when I started and I'm already giving away the larger clothing and moving into some of my regular 16's. Today I am wearing a blouse that I loved but only had worn a couple of times because the arms were too tight. It feels very good I can't wait until I can pull out my 14's! 25 pounds down today! Sleeping

I could sleep on my right side but not the left in the hospital. As of yesterday I could sleep on both so that would be 4 days post op.

    A good problem, but . . .

Would it work to buy 1-2 pants/skirts/jackets in a color that goes with many things? Then a few shirts to mix & match? Until your loss stabilizes. $800 in 4 months, holy cow!!! Hope that job pays well, lol!

I started this journey 5/9/17 after years of denial. This year I made the realistic decision to walk in the Dr. Office asking for help with now a possible death sentence. After the traumatic fire lost after a new marriage, I realized that I could have dead in the fire. I am expecting a longer healthy life. My son got married this year and couldn't imagine not being able to enjoy my grandkids. I'm excited about my NEW BEGINNING! My Dr. Office scheduled my surgery before approval so I am not on pre op diet. My clearance came to my husband phone while in the chest xray 🙇 what is the required days of pre op diet? Greetings to ALL!

    Pre-op goals!!

So, I've been trying to lose weight for years and it was always a rollercoaster for me. So now that I've been taking it serious I'm over 45 lbs down since December !! Yay me! I'm now month 5 into my 6th month preop period and I think despite my food I've done pretty damn good. I weigh in with my dietician tomorrow so I'm pretty nervous to see how much I've lost. I didn't start to see a surgeon until February, so August is my last appointment. I think the thing I'm more anxious to see change is my dating life after I drop a ton of weight. Im pretty confident but in the back of my mind I'm like I'm still the fat girl that you're ashamed of. And that's an insecurity in itself. But anyway, my main question is what are some of your goals your working towards in the pre-op and look forward to accomplish in the post op journey?

    NEED A BUDDY/MENTOR

nice to see there are still folks being banded. I know it gets a bad rap but I've been extremely successful with it and at least I didn't do a more aggressive surgery...which I preferred not to do. Good luck ladies!

You probably have traded one addiction for another. Seek a counselor.
