    Halo ice cream

I eat it pretty often but I am 2 years out. I wouldn't eat it the first month, or 6 months post-op. It is a waste of calories for the protein at that point.

Almost all surgeons require you to be tobacco free, sometimes up to 6 months pre op. Nicotine hinders healing and causes stomach ulcers after WLS. I quit in September 2016 and my surgery was 6/21/17. I quit cold turkey and have not touched one since, but I understand where you are coming from. It's hard to break. My surgeon had me do a nicotine urine test 2 days prior to surgery and if it was positive my surgery would have been cancelled. Some surgeons do a test at the beginning of your journey and prior to surgery to be safe. Good luck quitting! It's for the best! You can do this!

    When does hunger return?

I am almost 3 weeks post-op and was just curious when actual hunger returns? I haven't felt it at all since surgery. I drink my protein shakes when I am suppose to even if i don't feel hungry to make sure I get the recommended amount of protein. And I try to get in 64 oz of water but most days its tough. Thanks in advance!

Ask the dietician attached to the surgical team for a meal plan. and stick to the level she suggests. so free fluids first, then the next level. then soft food - I had low calorie jellies ready and pureed fruit (baby puree level). For me she suggested that I get in plain yoghurt as she knew I liked it. and eat protein first. my protein was mainly chicken, fish, eggs, and cottage cheese. But my greatest help was fresh unsweetened pineapple juice, to sip. It helped rid me of all the foamy mucous phlegm that was making life a misery for the first three weeks at home. Fresh pineapple juice really saved the day. My Doctor suggested it and it worked a treat after three hours of sipping it , a little at a time, I finally gained relief from all the vomiting of foamy phlegm. Here is why - fresh pineapples contain digestive a digestive enzyme in them called, "Bromelain". Bromelain helps break down hard to digest proteins in our digestive tract naturally so we do not end up with gas, bloating, nausea, upset stomach, diarrhea, burping or constipation. - enzyme bromelain is known to reduce phlegm and mucus in throat

    Would appreciate advice

I am in your exact situation. Highest weight 217. Surgery day weight 200. I had surgery a week ago and have lost about a pound a day so far. I had high blood pressure. I have been having dizzy spell's and checked my blood pressure yesterday and it was very very low. So it's helping already and I need to call my doctor today to adjust my medicine! So far I am ecstatic that I went through with this. I have a long way to go. I need to focus on soft foods which I have not done yet.

    Halo ice cream

My friend eats it out the carton and I am like what? How? Why? I put my bowl on the scale, tare it out, add my halo top, and put the rest back in the freezer. I get 4 to 5 servings per container. When I first started eating it I was getting 8 servings per container because I just used it to add a little flavor and moisture to my protein brownies/cakes. If someone is just eating it out the carton, sigh...

    Headache post-op?

I had a headache, too. About a week out. I think it was because calories were too low - 300 about.

    July sleevers liquid diet

Day 5 of high protein liquid diet. 9 days to go, then surgery. I miss solid food. Even a salad. A bit of fish. Anything! Very much trying to focus on the fact that this is temporary. I will chew again some day. Sent from my Nexus 5X using BariatricPal mobile app
