    Somehow still not fast enough...

Oh yeah. Hang around and browse the stall?! or frustrated! threads and you'll see you're not alone. It's unfortunate but you'll never be able to control how you lose. When it's getting you down and ruining your day, stay off the scale. Most of us experience stops and starts and stalls (sometimes several long ones!) before getting goal. But we all lose. So yes, the frustration you're feeling is completely normal. But you already know in your head that it's illogical, too. You certainly didn't gain the weight overnight. And I find it highly unlikely you ever put on 48 pounds in just four months, either, but you've taken them off in that time nonetheless. It is natural for your body to need to recover and it is natural for loss to be harder the closer you get to goal. Hang in there and try to stay positive. Don't play mind games with the scale - just put it away and weigh once a week if you need to see a larger drop to feel successful. Best of luck!

    Weight loss Clinic Orientation...Disappointment

Thank you all for your kind words! It truly is wonderful to have support in this (my family isn't very supportive, and they don't think I should be doing this at all). My mother and sister are both really overweight, and can't come to grips with the fact that they should be making a positive change in their lives as well. I'm hoping this journey will light a fire under them. I actually have a meeting with the weight loss surgeon on 7/2, so I am excited to see what lies ahead. Congrats Jim on your AMAZING weight loss!!!!!!

dont feel bad. i know exactly how you feel! Im six months post op and have lost 70 pounds but have seen the scale move up a total 7 pounds and am like is this really it?! super frustrating especially when you go into the surgery have high expectations. but just so you know.. you are doing fine. my doctor actually told me i was losing too fast and to try and intake more. 8-10 pounds a month is more than enough. Gives your body a chance to catch up to itself. dont worry. just know, as long as the scale is moving down, no matter how slow, its moving in the right direction!

It will all work out and this headache will be a thing of the past before you know it. Keep your head up and keep chugging forward. You will get your surgery and be glad you did. I know right now all this seems crazy but it will all be worth it! Good luck! And don't for get to take a deep breath... breathe in, breathe out, repeat over and over again!!!

    Secrets

I told only my husband, 2 very close friends & only the human resource person at work. I too didn't want to be judged or watched. When folks ask me how I lost, if i choose to tell them anything, i just tell them I'm on a journey to get & stay healthy through Exercise & healthier eating.

    Secrets

I to have kept it quiet. I have only told two people I work with and that is all other than my family. I guess I have all the same worries of what if it doesn't work and some that would say if you just tried harder. I am 52 and was put on my first diet at 6. I have lost and gained everything many times over. People that don't have a weight problem just don't understand. I hope this is the tool I need to be very successful. Good luck and hope we both reach our goals.
