Hi Sweetalie,

I haven't been banded yet so what I have to say is merely an observation not of much help but something to think about nontheless.

1. Are following a low carb diet?

2. Are getting enough excercise?

3. Are you helping yourself to lose the weight or are you depending soely on the band?

4. Are you happy?

Being a newbie, the answers to these questions sure will help me more than you can ever imagine.

Thanks,

Ms.Ann

Ms Ann I am not doing 2 orf the 3 things you listed. What I am doing is not grazing or thinking of food all day. I eat low carb nad what helps is that I can't eat that much any more it is amazing. So I eat my protien 1st. BUT the 3 you mentioned need to be done and I am getting close to where I will need to do them all. I believe that God the Father gave us the lap band to help fight the world of food that is thrown against us. Any way Good Luck And God Bless.

I've been banded since March 26, 2008 and have lost only 35 pounds. I complain to my surgeon every time and he reassures me that I'm doing fine. Everyone loses differently and he said the slower it comes off the less loose skin I will have. Congrats on the 51 pounds lost!! That's a significant amount in 6 months!!

Hello Sweetalie!

That is an awesome weightloss, and you are absolutely NOT losing too slowly. What is that, an average of about 2lbs. per week? That is so great and you look amazing! Slower is better. My doctor monitors his patients closely, and his nurse told me that if the weight is coming off too fast, he'll adjust you so that it won't; that's how important slow and steady weight loss is. And you know, just the comment you made about not grazing and thinking about food all day makes this all worthwhile. I've always thought on the rare times that I did lose weight, that the weight loss was secondary; it was the return of my "sanity" during those times that meant the most to me. I loved waking up and not immediately think, "when do I get to eat, how much, what, and when will I eat again?" You'll get to where you want to be, and in the meantime, never forget where you came from and celebrate every lost ounce!

i was banded june the 23rd and have lost 35lbs i thought it would be more by now, but i feel so much better i can wear nicer clothes, feel more confident and if i hadnt had the band i could be so much heavier than i was on day of operation, so i look at it as a life long process as long as i lose slowly feel happy and healthy thats good enough for me x

I was banded Oct. 16th and lost 7 lbs initially. By the time I had my first fill, I had maintained that loss. Then came Thanksgiving and Christmas. I have GAINED back 4 pounds! I went back for another fill after 2 weeks, and still have not lost. I started exercising at "Curves" 3 times a week and thought that would help start the weight loss again. It hasn't. I am getting very discouraged. Need advice!

Hi Sweetalie: I too was banded in June of 08 and i'm down 50 lbs. Now I don't know about you but I am thrilled with my weight loss. I think 50 lbs is well within the normal weight loss range. Now, if I can lose another 50, I'll lookin good.

God Bless,

Susan

I'm right on target with you guys. I was banded in July 08 and have lost 50 pounds. Dr. seems pleased with that loss. Now, I'm ready for another 50!

I was banded June 17th & have lost about 47lbs. I too feel that I should have lost more by now, but I had a fill yesterday & the Dr. was very encouraging & said I have done a great job.

I am happy that I no longer carry around that 47lbs. And in truth I have come down 65lbs since my very highest..... so that is the number I track.

Keep up the good work & remember every pound lost is a step in the right direction to a happier, healthier you!!!
