Liquid diet today...my orders, not the surgeon's!

So...today I am starting my liquid diet. According to surgeon's orders, I am supposed to start 1 week from surgery (i.e., surgery on Aug. 22, start liquids on Aug. 15). I'm starting now because I'm so exhausted by all my food drama. I have been eating like I'm preparing for a frickin' electric chair. Literally eating into a food coma some days. It feels horrible. I know that discipline is going to be part of this new, healthier life so I might as well start this week. If nothing else, it will allow me to break this carb-bender/crazy maker. Also, this is the week of making some pre-surgery changes. I wish I would have done all of this a lot sooner, but I didn't..... So - Monday starts liquid diet. Thursday is my stop smoking date (2 weeks pre-surgery). I CAN DO THIS!

God help me.

Don't forget to give up caffeine if you currently partake. Caffeine withdrawal while recovering from surgery is an unnecessary complication.

Just focus on what you CAN have. I had a 2 week pre surgery liquid diet but on the first week I was allowed up to 4 oz of meat once a day if needed. I only did it 3 times but if it gets too rough in the first few days you might want to try that.

I really didn't mind the liquid diet. I too went a little crazy eating the month before surgery so I was ready for the change.

good for you, the first 3 days are the hardest. i cut caffine cold turkey and had terrible headaches, i added half of a cup of coffee back for a couple days and when i quit again, no headache... also i didn't sleep well the first week, so hungry at bed time. i found a ts of peanut butter and a sip of skim milk helped me alot. now it's all liquids and only clear liquids tomorrow.. surgery monday morning!!
