hostage

2nd entry in an hour.

i am just SO FRUSTATED. i feel like i am being held hostage by my weight. i need to find a new job, but know that i will go on a million interviews, be totally qualified, be charming and have an amazing interview and not be offered anything.

my job now is (or was) one of my favorite i have ever had. BUT my boss is just piling stuff on me. when i told him i needed more money, he said absolutely sure, then said 'never mind, i won't add more responsibility'. THEN 2 months later changes his mind about the responsibility but won't give me more money. i am TIRED of being taken advantage of because i can't find a new job.

I am not the best person to offer advice on weight, but I can offer some advice on finding a better and more rewarding job. I think you gave me a clue when you said that you were "totally qualified" - could you be overly qualified for the jobs you have been applying to? Finally one of my interviewers said, "I think you are overly qualified and would find this job boring and mundane." Wow! It made me realize that I needed to demand more...more of a challenge and more money! Sure enough I ended up applying for what I considered "a stretch" position as a Marketing Director and ended up getting the position. Sometimes things like your boss taking advantage of you force you into leaving and doing something completely different. I am so much happier I didn't settle for what I thought was "acceptable" and instead reached for "exceptional". Wow, I suprised myself with that last statement. I think that is my new motto!
