The beginning of my journey....I'm supposed to drink THAT much protein!?

I was banded on Wednesday July 17th. I was supposed to somehow get in 3 protein shakes yesterday but failed miserably. I am not hungry and the protein shakes make me nauseated just smelling them. I am trying to stay hydrated as I see this as possibly being a problem for me. I feel like I have a lump in my throat. I know this is part of the process....I just hope I am doing what I need to! Any suggestions for protein intake would be greatly appreciated!

Wow, I hear about this often. I was just banded on the 10th and I had no problem with fluids and started eating soft foods the third day. However, I did have medicine for nausea and a patch behind my ear for three days. Maybe that helped. Do you have anything to take for nausea? If not ask the doctor about Phenergen, (may have spelled that wrong). I had to take it every six hours, for the first seven days,

Thanks for your response. I have Phenergan and Zofran....don't feel extremely nauseated...only when I smell those shakes. Had some broth and a sf pudding yesterday, and water. Tolerated those just fine. I still feel really bloated! I have every confidence this will pass....

There was no way I could possible drink the recommended number of protein drinks right after surgery or even a month later. It's just too much. You are so swollen on the inside right now. Do your best and don't worry it will come as you heal. I highly recommend a stool softener if your doctor has not already. The protein drinks are killer in that regard. Best of luck to you!

I love my protein shakes. They are chocolate (only), 8 oz. skim milk, a little decaf instant coffee, a little peppermint extract and tons of ice and they are as thick and as good as McDonald's. Hamilton Beach makes a small blender, under $20., that is also the drinking cup.

I buy Body Fortress, about $15-$17. at Walmart. I add Colace into the morning shake every day (stool softener). It is a prescription liquid. At night I take, prescription also, Miralax powder in my hot tea.
