a heavy woman comes into my job today,a reg customer who hasnt seen me in awhile. she starts telling me how great i look and how i lost so much weight and asking what i did,so i tell her i had lapband surgery in october.she then tells me how she had lapband 2 yrs ago!

my first thought after she tells me that is....that'll never be me...until i stop to think for a minute and i realize...that can very easily be me!

like everyone says...until you have a fill, this is just another diet.

the woman was telling me that she hasnt had a fill in over a year and prob ended up stretching her band by eating unhealthy and overeating.

what she said had me so worried....i have not had a fill yet,not for lack of trying but due to nyu still not up and running after the hurricane.

and ive noticed that while i have restriction all day and can barely swallow anything for breakfast and lunch...by dinnertime all my restriction is gone and i have to remind myself not to overeat!!

i work 40 hrs a week and have been very active in work...so active that i dont have the energy to exersise when i get home...which is prob why im not losing much.

im still losing,but very slowly....

i know that eventually everything will click into place and i'll find my sweet spot...but until then, its very frustrating!!

I agree it is scary and a good message for all of us. Even though I am at goal, I realize every day that I must eat right in order to maintain this. I have not had a fill since Jan of this year. One because I was losing and two because I always seem to go through such a hard time after each fill. I do have days I am hungrier than others and that is why I am obsessive about counting calories and measuring my one cup of food. I know for me the fat girl still lives inside and I still have days as the old saying goes "my eyes are bigger than my stomach". As destynee said we can't allow this to happen to us and hopefully we can keep our goals and our lessons learned to the forefront of our thoughts. Good luck to you, sending strength your way, you can be successful, you have done very well to date and be aware and knowledgeable about your actions is a big part of the battle.

thank you guys! i got on the scale this morn and am down 4 lbs from last sunday,so im happy about that!! its just scary because after everything we go through before the surgery, then the surgery and the recovery...it seems unfair that we still have to struggle so much to lose a lb or 2!!

Honestly it sounds like this lady dropped the ball and just gave up. If you think you are stretched and/or have not gone in for a fill for that long, then go to the doc and figure out how to resolve the issue(s), she may have just needed a fill. Maybe I'm more motivated since I was self paid, but if I have issues, you bet your a** I'm going back to the doc. And see, 4lbs down, you are well on your way! It's difficult in the beginning, we are learning a bunch of new habits all at once so it takes time, but you'll get the hang of it. And if you are not tracking, I suggest it, it's very helpful, myfitnesspal is awesome (and free), I'm 2012ALM if you want to be friends.
