Post- Op Day 3- Rashes And Revalations!

Feeling pretty good today. Learning to listen to my body and the cues it gives me. It is getting easier to rest so I can heal.Yesterday was a good day. I was able to pass gas( sorry for the tmi, but when you get to this side you will understand ;) I had 1/2 cup of egg drop soup, one protein shake, and a popsicle. I also had a vitamin water that I sipped on all day. Well actually I have been sipping it for two days. I was so stuffed. Today I added protein powder to my shake for a total of 40 grams of protein there and I am 1/2 way through it. I also broke out in a rash from head to toe. It turns out I am allergic to the pain meds. So no more for me. Lucky enough I really do not need them anymore but it has to work itself out of my system. Im going to try to walk more today, but still the simplest things tire me out. But I am happy to be on this side!

Great progress, I totally understand the "TMI", I have plenty of bodily noises that I make now that I just except and move on. Sounds like you are doing well with your proteins and liquids. I remeber thinking in the early days how would I ever get in all that protein, I was barely drinking or taking in 400 calories a day but it gets easier over time. Good Luck.

I also can not feel my port. I have five incisions, and there is a large one but even when I poke it a bit, I can's feel it. I guess that is a good thing! :)

i have a bump on my stomach, I walk around rubbing it like a baby, (it could still be stomach fat) but its comforting for me right now...heheh

Hi there,

thanks for posting. The rash is no fun for sure but not feeling the port is great! Mine I can feel which is quite awkward as I feel the need to protect the area all the time, I am hoping that the swelling will go away soon now that I am 8 days post op.

Calling the doctor in the morning. The rash is out of control. Feels like a burn and I am using benadryl and calomine lotion round the clock.

Are you sure the rash is from the pain meds and NOT the Steri Strips???

I had a MAJOR allergic reaction on each of my 5 incisions where the tape was. I am red with welts and it burns and itches bad.

They are large red patches around each incision. It's a pain!!

I had the same reaction to the steri strips!! I am 2 weeks out and still have redness and itching.

Around the ster-strips is looks normal. It is a real fine, raised rashed all over. I talked with my patient advocate and she thinks it may be from the pain meds or something I was given in the OR. It is better this morning
