Calories And Food Choices

I have been following my diet with myfitnesspal.com; however, I am not getting enough calories from my actual breakfast/lunch/dinner meals. I do have some restrictions (eat from 3/4 to 1 cup of food) and my band appears to be wide open after 8:00 pm at which time I usually crave and eat junk food (in moderation). I do eat my protein first. Please give me examples of what you all eat to reach 1200 calories per day? It does not appear to be possible to me with eating meat, fruit and vegys. I have eliminated cheese because of the calories and I eat very little bread if any. My calorie intake is usually around 1000-1100 calories with me eating snacks at night and the scale is not moving either way. Please help me with my diet? I have 1cc in band.

I have the same problem and some nights I have bad snacks too (but the York peppermint patties from the holidays are almost gone so I will stop soon!). I only eat about 1/2 cup at meals- that's all it takes before I get my satisfied feeling- and that just isn't enough calories. I try to get around 800 calories each day (my weight is low enough that it's an acceptable amount). I've had a big fill and I just don't feel hungry most of the time. I know that we're supposed to avoid liquid calories, but I sometimes have milk or hot cocoa to push my calorie count higher for the day if it's too low. Hot cocoa is a nice treat! I also will eat a snack like almonds because they're pretty calorie dense, but healthy.

What about greek yogurt or low fat frozen yogurt if you are having snack attacks?? I hate the late night snacking monster which I get often and is frankly my worst part of the day. I am hoping the band eliminates some of it but I am worried it won't as I hear a lot of people still have the issue. Then I hear some people say they can't eat at night before bed.

I have yet to reach 1200 calories since surgery. I usually have a SF Carnation Instant Breakfast (150 calories), FF Refried Beans mixed with Low Skim ricotta cheese for lunch (170 calories), a snack (100 calories or less), and maybe a lean cuisine or lean pocket (270 calories) for dinner. That's my menu for today. Every other day I try to eat a little more. For instance, yesterday I had a smoothie as my snack and that was 280 calories. I seem to be losing weight well like this, but it's not the best suggestion. Why did you cut out cheese? Cheese is really good for protein...you can find low fat cheese. Why are you worried about the calories since you are obviously not getting enough? I'd say cheese is GOOD calories. I usually do not eat past 8PM, but if you feel the need, definitely only keep healthy snacks available. I have SF pudding and No sugar added applesauce. Good luck!

Oh and by the way, you don't HAVE to eat the 1200. I think if you can reach 1000, you are doing real good!

Thanks for the responses. I am concerned about my calories because I don't think I am getting in enough. My scale is not moving. Today, I have eaten a lot more than usual - no restrictions. I am going in next week for a fill.
