Ok I am almost 2 weeks out and I want to eat everything in sight I know I should be so careful and watch this and that and well the shakes I am ready to toss out although mixing things with them they seem to be getting better but please tell me that I am not the only one that feels they can eat whatever they want, and why do I have to wait 6 whole weeks before a fill!!!! I don’t think I can handle this I just want to start working out and feel that restriction to control my portions that is why I went threw all this in the first place! I need portion control help and does everyone have to wait 6 weeks??? How can I convince my dr that I want to be filled now!!!! Please don’t judge me and yes I know that this is a tool to help me loose weight with but I want to start working it and don’t really like waiting!

I am right there with you!!!!! I know what you are going through. I had surgery 9/22. and I don't get a fill until 11/2. I feel like i am starving to death. And I can eat what ever I want. two weeks after surgery I started a little mashed potatoes and oatmeal. It did me good until about a week ago. now i feel hungery all the time. I had lost a total of 22lbs since surgery now I have gained a few back but not all. I am also having issue with being constipated. and now I have my lovely time of the month. So with both of those I am hoping that is why I have gained a little. My doctor told me not to gain any weight before my fill. but it is really hard not to eat when you are sooo hungery.

They won't do the fill until the six weeks because you are still healing is what my doctor told me.

I am here for you if you need to vent. I understand and going through the same thing. I am just glad I am not alone in this battle.

Good luck and everything is going to be fine.

It's that period called bandster-hell. Your head tells you that you are healed and can eat, but of course you don't want to eat too much because that was why you had WLS in the first place. On the other hand, your body truly is still healing and eating, filling too soon will work against you in the long run.

My blender was my best friend during this period - I had two weeks of liquids followed by four weeks of mushies afte surgery so I learned to blend lots of foods - chicken, fish, vegies and then thin them with water, milk or yoghurts. The big thing for me was flavor - I used various sauces etc to give my foods flavor to help me through.

Good luck and stick with it. Your dr has put rules in place based on experience so it's best if you can work with him/her on these.

I just recently had my first fill and I am still having the same issues that you guys have mentioned with wanting to eat any and everything in sight. All we can do is try and follow the doc's orders and just have hope that it will get better with each fill. And it will. You are not in this alone what you are feeling.

This phase is Bandster Hell and its the worst part. Let yourself off the hook a bit here, your band just isnt doing anything yet! Even if you gain a few...you'll be laughing about it a year from now. This is the long haul and even though everyone is so anxious to get going and lose some weight right away its just not realistic without some brutal dieting and no darn help from your band! Be careful of dieting I think its what got a lot of us to become obese! Be patient...try to think long term and BELIEVE me when I say at a good restriction even a slacker like me lost all my weight!

I have ate some cream of crab soup which is bad full of calories and i did try some bake chicken for extra protein but I full so damn quilty. I'm 4 weeks out and I've been in the same shape as you since my 2nd week. I did indeed speak to my doctor who told me exactly what everyone else has said...This is the worst part! I will be getting my first fill on 10/25...I'm praying that it works for the HUNGER!!! Everyone I've talked to says it will be much better after the fill. I've been doing better for the past few days because I've increased the amount of protein I've been consuming. Wishing you much better days ahead.
