:) Girl I am the same way. I don't feel a restriction. I am on my 3 week pureed food diet. But feel like I could eat whatever.....but I don't.

And they are SO right about retaining water weight after surgery.....I put 7 lbs back on when I got on the scale from thehospital. I SAID CHICA CHICA...WHAT? lol Then the hubby reminded me and my 2 year old son promptly broke the scale for me. LOL So I haven't been able to weigh myself and I'm okay with that. :o) I go to the Dr. tomorrow for my 2 week. Just like to see where I'm at.

You are doing great though so don't push it. I met a guy that pushed everything and he is a classic case of everything that can go wrong with the lap band has with him....I think it's been his doing though.

Anyway....keep pushing...Glad to hear that you are doing so well <cyber hugs>:D

Your not alone!!! Im 1 week post op too and have no real "restriction"...Im on the pureed diet and the pureed chili is the only thing that really satisfies me...I also put on a little of the weight back on after surgery. Hang in there! You have people here who can relate :D Good Luck!!

I have no retriction, had my surgery on 9/20 and Ive adapted to that "hunger" feeling....protein shakes have become my best friend and the light cheeses (also high in protein). ...and to date I have lost 34 pounds....but more than that I seem to be losing inches.... Good Luck to all, we are all in this together :Dancing_shocked:

You are not alone. I had my surgery 8/19/11 and have had 2 fills. Still no restriction. I had doubts after about 2 weeks after I started solids because I could not figure out the eating thing. Fiinally, it dawned on me...stick to what the dr tells me, and be sure to pick healthy foods. I also found that I needed to exercise (if I had picked healthy foods and exercised in the past, I would not have needed to be banded probably) so I ride a bike.

I start out with water in the morning, then have a protein drink for breakfast, was doing yogurt mid morning with salad and grilled chicken for lunch. String cheese for mid afternoon snack and a sensible dinner. As time has moved on, I realize I was not listening to my body, but insread listening to my former eating habits. I kept thinking that I needed to eat because it was mid morning, or lunch, or mid afternoon or dinner time. When I realized I was not really hungry, I felt a lot better. So, I only eat 3 times a day now and my portions are getting smaller, believe it or not. and I don't have restriction yet.

The one thing the band has done for me, is to make me more conscious of my eating and food choices. I was a big carbohydrate and sweets person, but I am proud to say I have not had sweets (cake, pie, candy, etc) or carbs since 7/26/11. Never thought I could go without bread, potatoes, chips, pasta, etc. but I have done it. Now when I think about sweets and carbs, I am like "Yuck", give me protein or maybe a little fruit.

WYP, you can do this. It will take some mental adjustment but you can succeed. We are all pulling for you.

BEST OF LUCK.

I'm so glad my husband isn't the only one feeling like he can eat anything. He is so hungry all the time and has gotten really disillutioned a few times and hoping he did the right thing. He will be 3- weeks post-op on Tues. and can start on the solid food. He's hoping it will stick with him longer. He has lost 17 lbs. so far, but feels like he would have lost that anyway just eating the soft stuff. I have my work cut out for me now...what to pack in his lunch? He's very picky.

Anyway, glad you all are hear...I love to read your posts.

You have a tool, and that is all it is. You do have to work with it and have a lot of self-control. I can eat all kinds of bad things if I want to and not use my tool. I do eat 6 times a day and keep my cals between 800-1000. Push the protein and start walking and you will feel better and stay full longer. When you get the hunger pains try a big glass of water first and if they still keep coming eat a healthy protein meal.
