Trying to Beat My DNA - 2 weeks post-op

UHHHH!!! I am so aggravated today. I wish I had never had this surgery. Or at least that is how I am feeling today. I have had heartburn for the past 4-5 days with a small amount of gastric acid reflux. Today my throat feels like it has a cotton ball stuck in it and it feels extremely dry. No matter how much water I drink, it still feels dry.

Went to the doctor for my 2 week check up. I let her know about my symptoms and she told me to start all over on my diet. Yes, I'm back on liquids. I was on liquids the first week, pureed the second week, and was supposed to start soft foods tomorrow, and now I'm back on crappy old liquids. I understand why, but that doesn't help matters any. She said my stomach must still be swollen and I'm not tolerating my diet being advanced yet. I am officially in Banster Hell!!!!! I have been starving to death. The restriction that I felt is gone and I find myself wanting to eat every couple of hours. I'm still only eating 1/2 of a cup of pureed food because I am scared of doing anything to harm my pouch.

I started on Pepcid so we will see. I'm just very discouraged tonight. I researched this alot and knew the problems that could arise, but I thought it wouldn't happen to me. That is what I get for thinking.

I'm so sorry! I hope it gets better soon! That must be hard, I remember how happy I was for the 2 week check up and to start mushies. It will get better, and you will love your band!!! PS how much have you lost in the first 2 weeks? Take care and keep us updated!

My surgeon prescribed pepcid twice a day the day I left the hospital. Hopefully, that will help a lot. I would definitely be bummed also! My protein shakes are so NOT appealing right now. I mean maybe one a day but not 3. I have lost interest in chicken broth.

We can do this. We can do this. We can do this.

Thanks guys for the support. I've lost 9.4 pounds since surgery. So I'm not doing bad, I just don't want to feel bad like this having to do it.

Nursesandy I know this is a bummer, but I do have to admit, I was thinking you were super woman! It seems we have all had a set back or two. But stay the course, our marathon has just begun!

I hope the pepcid works for you! How about sugar free jello or popsicles? And there is a good clear vegatable broth and beef broth too?

You are doing fantastic, and this is a temporary thing. Your stomach is telling you to slow down and it will get better.

I am still visibly swollen, and I'm almost 4 weeks out. I called this am again and they told me to make sure I'm not exercising too much and be patient. OK. Patience is not one of my virtues LOL.

Hang in there!

Just curious how you are doing now. Have you progressed to softs now? Any more problems?
