Preparing for Surgery and scared ...

Hello Everyone....

I am preparing for surgery next month. I am really scared about it. Not so much the surgery itself. But that it wont work and I will have wasted $10K that It took me forever to get. If I cant follow Weight Watchers how will I be able to follow all the rules about eating with the Lap Band? Do you need absolute self control?

I guess I am in need of some reassurance and advice from others who are just starting their journey and the veterans who I can really learn from.

Your band will help you in regards to self control. I am speaking from my own experience. It only takes once to have an unplesant feeling then you remember it and are not apt to repeat it. (giggle)

You can do this. Your fear is a normal one. I was banded May 21, 2009 and I am 98lbs down. I have about 10-15 to go. Have not decided if I should stop at 170 or 165 so that's why the indecision on how much more.

My band is a tool. Yes, you hear it all the time but it's true. It tells me when to stop, it tells me when she does not like something and she assists me daily. I have named her Lilith (giggle)

I have faith in you. Just take it slow, it's a learning process and enjoy your journey.

I am also self pay.. I payed 16000.00.. I have the same fears because I am making monthly payments and I dont want to take anything away from my family.... So I feel that adds the pressure to making it want to work... I am 2 weeks post op.. I also have had some thoughts like it is not going to work and so on... Then I go on here and I get the support to keep me going...
